Poor white Republicans are an astonishingly simple minded bunch. Their basis for continued support of the GOP agenda is purely racist and fear of being marginalized. All in the name of Jesus.

in Speaker Pelosi Remarks About Briefing On Enhanced Interrogation Techniques - Nancy Pelosi | News from Presidential Candidates, the House of Representatives, the Senate, and the White House on GovNews
The responisble CIA operatives involved in torture must be brought to justice; unlike what President Obama and his Administration wishes would happen, he and they are not the law of the land. Laws have been broken and justice must be pursued. It is apparent that the CIA is threatening Speaker Pelosi; the Obama Administration and especially Leon Penetta must do right by America.

Obama may have stated his intent not to pursue the fairness doctrine; but, Congress can spearhead a resurrection of a new form of it. American's own the airwaves and there is an overwhelming displeasure at the rants and histrionics of Hannity, O'Rielly, Rick Santelli, Rush, Savage.....
Congress needs to not only take a lead with the GOP pundit podium of the news shows; the Christian pulpits need to be revisited regarding their tax exempt status. Barney Frank should spearhead the initiative.
And one more thing:
Wouldn't it be great if advertisers took the intitiative to quit the NY Post, and if American's quit buying it; and if the congress took a second look at the wavier it gave NYP owner Murdoch. It's time for CHANGE.

in The debate continues over homophobia in the black community on AMERICAblog
Finally this debate is beginning to get some wings. The furor even in conversation with my black religious conservative friends, co workers, accquainances; when discussing gay issues has always surprised me. It is an inherent knee jerk well engrained bias on the part of the majority of black religious conservatives to dismiss with disdain and vigor the rights of the gay community.
I have encountered countless confrontational stances and incalcintrant intolearance on gay right discussions; when otherwise cordial conversations with said friends and co workers are equally surprisingly not fought with their heels completely entrenched in their religious teachings.
When one argues that it is not a black issue, I am reminded of the countless of articles I frequently read of even more draconian laws, concepts, attitudes and actions against the gay communities in African countries.
To deny that there is an overwhelming embedded homophobia in the American conservative black community is simply a denial of an obvious reality.
What the gay community should do is acknowledge that there is work to be done; educational and political. The gay community can no longer afford as a voting group to disenfranchise it's political goals by voting for black candidates that are equally as homophobic and bigotted on gay right issues as are white conservative religious Republicans and Democrats.
Gay Democrats have blindly voted for fellow black Democrats in local, state and federal campaigns, without regard to the inherent religious conservative consequences.
This unquestioned support of fellow black Democrat candidates to school boards, or commissions, or judgships, or political offices must cease. The gay community must solicit candidates not the basis of political party or race or religion; but, the gay community must inquire into the stance on gay issues and support that any candidate will offer towards gay rights goals.
To ignore that the conservative religious black community is prejudice against gay issues is ignorance and a folly that cannot be any longer tolerated.
Vote smart.

in Who cares about Rick Warren? on AMERICAblog
I am an American, my rights are intact in my heart and soul. That a weak president like Obama does not have the fortitude to overcome his political haribingers is of no consequence to me. Obama is a non issue, false prophets from any religious tradition are of no consequence, hate speech and racism are mere words.
I will not spend the next four years capitulating to a president that is far from being a statesman on gay issues.Eight disgusting years have been witnessed full of cowards in the press, in politics and in the churches capitulating to a president that brought a war with lies, that outed a CIA agent, that made torture synonymous with America, that brought our economy to our knees. I made the mistake of voting for Obama, this will not happen ever again; further my energies my sweat will not support any of his goals. He is not a friend of the gay community and we must not waste the next four years bowing to a leader that has no spine, capitulating to a leader that sees our community as a political chess piece. This selection of Rick Warren either is rescinded or Warren apologies and instructs his flock likewise and additionally Obama must demonstrate some semblance of understanding that the selection was insensitive and wrong.
We have supported and voted in a man that is giving a spotlight to a gay racist spokesperson, a man that has not asked of him to backtract his hate speech; as such he is condoning his actions. We have made a tremendous mistake. No amount of double talk about reaching out and unity disqualifies this mans hate speech. This is totally unacceptable. Obama is as digusting a politician as Bush and we must not sit silently and allow these actions to go unnoticed and forgotten. This may divide the gay community to those that are Ethridge like appeasers to the cause; but, more many the honeymoon is over and no bribe, words, or measured actions will ever replace the apologies that should have already been offered.

in You have Rick Warren officially spooked on AMERICAblog
Mike Rogers on Hard ball was brilliant. Melissa Ethridge, Obama and Biden are a traitors. The difference is in capitulating without qualifying past indiscretions. Warren must be made to retract his statements or decline the invitation. Obama apparently is too proud to admit a mistake as much as Bush is. The Rev. Rivers, and Sharpton and most of the black religious leadership are just pathetic clones of the same cloth. Christian conservatives be they black or white are not voting for the interests of the gay community; indeed, they inherently and regligiously vote against our interests.
It is becoming more evident that while the gay community has been an ardent support of black Democrats in local, state and federal elections; this has to change. Gay support of black candidate must be more readily discerned; don't give your votes away to an enemy of your community. They will come back and do things like choose a gay racist unapologetic pastor to participate in their inaguration. Watch as more black preachers speak in the same voice as Warren. The black vote in California was primarily responsible for the success of Prop 8. They must be seen as much a detractor of gay community rights as are other conservative religious voters.
Talk about running around in circles; the gay community must organize against all factions of the conservative right; and no longer afford the black community a free ride with our votes.

Shut up. Your sweeping generalizations are pathetic. There are unenlightened people of every stripe. You bring up black politicians. Explain why it doesn't matter to you that Deval Patrick and David Patterson support marriage equality. Gee, how many black governors don't? How many white governors? Do you consider the fact that the NAACP fighting for us in front of the California Supreme Court insignificant? Pull your head out and knock off the generalizations.

Are you yet another Mormon, attempting (desperately) to change the subject?
Truth: More Mormons (from out of state) fought FOR Prop 8 than blacks, in state. And let's not forget the Catholic bigots. There is blame to go around to a lot of sides, but to single out the blacks is just RACIST.
Now, go preach your bigotry elsewhere.

President Elect Obama is an enemy of the gay community. Black Americans are not friends of the gay community. It is gutterly understood that right wing fundi White Christians are truely enemies of the gay community; but, political correctness, especially this past election year, gave the gay community pause in uttering the fact of the inherent Christian based gay racism in the Black community. Not some, not few, not here and there; but, most Black Americans are gay racists. Black Americans must be viewed for the enemy that they are of the gay community along side with their Christian White counterparts. The gay community must work to impede Black political interests and rights insofar as that is what Black Americans are doing unto gay interests. THEY ARE ALSO THE ENEMY.
Just as the gay community would do no less to obstruct the interests and rights of any conservative republican white or otherwise; the gay community must direct the same vigor to obstruct, and impede any political gains of the Black community. They have no qualms about doing as much to the gay community. The gay community must rise above the political correctness of aligning itself to a fellow Democratic Party faction and recognize Black America is as much an enemy as is as the Conservative right wing American. Let’s work to vote against any and all Black American political interests at every level; be it school board or the office of the presidency. Work as hard as possible to minimize their hateful bigotted gay racist influence.
There is no difference between a Black homophobe and a Conservative one.
Ask yourself would have Hillary Clinton invited such a vile gay racist to her inaguration. Obama not only threw the gay community under the bus; he condoned gay racist speech.
I regret voting for this man.

Barack Obama in the United States Senate:
Every two years the Human Rights Campaign, the largest national gay and lesbian organization, issues a scorecard for members of the Senate based on their sponsorship and voting on key issues of importance to gay and lesbian citizens. Barack Obama on Hate Crimes:
Barack Obama co-sponsored legislation to expand federal hate crimes laws to include crimes perpetrated because of sexual orientation and gender identity.
Employment Non-Discrimination:

If this was the Nazi era and I was of Jewish descent and a president elect chose a vocal anti Jewish Nazi sympathizer to participate in his inaguration; how should I feel. Obama's lack of sensitivity and outright pandering with overtures to conservative extremists only says to the gay community that Obama tolerates their claims of equating gay men and women with pedofiles and gay marriage rights as a slippery slope to beastiality. Quiet desperation, stunned into a rage of betrayal is how the gay community finds itself. First Obama's betrayal on FISA, then his Pelosi/Reid like capitulation to Lieberman coupled with his continuation of obvious right of center choices for his cabinet and the choice of this bigot homophobe to participate in his inaguration; only demonstrates what many in the gay community feared all along, Obama is showing his true Christian Black Homophobe roots.
This president is not a friend of the gay community. His selection of Rick Warren is tantamount to condoning racism.
