I don't agree with your post for the following reasons which I thought you'd understand:

1. You're looking at pre DEMO sites where the creators of the sites might be scrambling to get things together and working.
2. With all the work required in getting things running sometimes PR is pushed back for technology or infrastructure.
3. Video doesn't work for everyone. They can be long and boring. For websites a pictoral display of a site might be much better then video. Video also takes time to edit and produce. Time that might need to be spent on programming or infrastructure for the actual product.

Regardless I do find there is something to learn with the way you handle backlash by reposting all the comments made about you. As a blogger/Journalist you're a success online because you stir conversation even when it's harsh to you. And that's pretty cool. Thanks for the PR lesson.

What would be interesting is if the companies that you bashed reply on their company blogs addressing the issues. I know to do that now if a blogger takes a shot at my startup.

The random button should be somewhere near the top so you can just keep jumping from one random video to another.

in Where’s the Social Network Money? on Social Times
While the problem of monetizing engagement persists it's interesting to note that Social MMORPG games are making tons of money on virtual goods and subscription basis. A few of the low key MMO games such as Habbo Hotel are rolling it in and their interface isn't much beyond facebook or myspace. Looking at how myspace has a Games section; I don't think it's far off to think that these social spaces will move towards a more virtual area where individuals can pay for goods or experience. Even if a subset of the total users on these networks were to get involved it would mean a large inflow of revenue.

What are you trying to do? I have a problem that any picture I'm working on in photoshop I must put a party hat in it. I once got a job as a multimedia guy for a wedding. They wanted a slideshow of happy times... they didn't seem to approve of the festive flair I added. Fez hats are not considered party hats btw... but I like them too.

Hi,

I'm Mo Kakwan the cofounder of Blabberize. Thanks so much, Kristin, for blogging us. *smile* The site is for laughs, and making your friends laugh with something simple and personal.

And we are doing a promotional tour with Me.dium. They've got a pretty slick technology that lets people travel websites together. I'm really pumped about it. I'll get to show everyone all the new features we're rolling out first hand!

Thanks again Kristin!

Hey,

My name is Mo and I've been on gamedev(under the name wavewash) for awhile and just noticed recently that you too live in the ann arbor area. I go to eastern michigan but live in ann arbor. As it turns out, eastern does not seem to have many people who are into graphics programming. Actually I met one guy, and while he is really intelligent, he has awful body odor. Anywho I thought it'd be fun to meet someone from gamedev and just talk games and graphics. Email me back if you think it's cool. Wavewash_at_yahoo. Laters!
