Horse thieves were hung by the neck until dead. I believe that would be an effective deterrent, but the thieves on Wall Street hide behind corporate structure and usually get little more than civil fines and light criminal sentences (if any). I'll believe people have finally had enough of the BS when the crooks on Wall Street and Pennsylvannia Ave get strung up.

Some government is behind this. Counterfeiting passable copies would require at least one original in each denomination, no? Who would have one of each laying around? These weren't two hundred dollar bills with George Bush's picture.

Sorry but for the denominations of $500 million (dated 1934 according to Bloomberg) or $1 billion (Kennedy bonds) there are no originals. They never existed. So these should be called forgeries.

wow, so all they'redoing is re-maiking it?? I guess they'd rather go through all that trouble, instead of doing the equal amount of work to make up a new series. Man, think about it, they have to find all the voice actors( if they're still alive and willing), re-edite the sound completely... I give up.

in “The wines were too various” on Another Wine Blog
Yes, it's a good article and if you're not really acquainted with or used to Italian food and Italian wine-food pairings it must be an eye-opener, I mean is it really that surprising that the best wine to digest the rich and heavy foods of Emilia-Romagna is Lambrusco...well it seems that people who read the LA Times have no idea. And the whites are good suggestions. But the social aspect of everybody bringing some food and/or wine is of course the best suggestion of the article.
Tnx for sharing, Joe.

I know that, Joe, and to each his own, long live freedom!
I just don't go for the "We do it like this over here, it's not really accurate, but we just do it like this over here. These are our conventions, leave us alone" attitude. That's the reason why some countries are still in the middle-ages.
Anywho, no need for a pointless discussion. You are absolutely right, Joe, have a nice day!

Sorry it wouldn't play for you, Bjorn. I have checked it on multiple computers and different browsers and it plays without a problem.

I know that in some countries you can call a wine by the name of the grape that is most prevalent, but my question is: is this a blend or a Merlot?
I mean, you say that it's "primarily Merlot," but to me a Merlot is 100% Merlot. Even Pétrus is not a Merlot, it's a Pomerol, and it contains 95% of Merlot most of the time.
And yes, I am sure that many, even in Europe, (think of the incompetence of "famous" jurymembers, soon to be seen in a movie) would mistake something containing Syrah for being a Bordeaux, but I don't buy that.
I mean, I could have understood it if it would have been Malbec, but that is originally a Bordelais grape.
I'm sure that the wine is wonderful and I will try it if I can find it over here, and keep this review in the back of my mind, so I thank you for the review!
Have a great day!

In the US we tend to call a wine by the variety of grape that makes up the majority of the juice. That is where I am from, where the wine is from, and where I drank it, so that's how it should be labeled. If I were drinking a French or Italian wine I would use their conventions. Pretty standard, actually.

Thank you so much, Joe! I WILL try it if I can find it here. I am really open to new things, but somewhere I have these stupid doubts of course since I only drank Alsace Pinot Gris when I lived in France...and I still do! Even the Italian offerings don't really do it for me. But I will try.

in Wine Spectator Scamers or Scammed? on Another Wine Blog
I think I know what you're trying to say, and yes, most people really rely on publications like these and will believe almost anything. I mean, look at wine jury's and I mean everywhere, US, France, Italy etc.. in my opinion a great number of those are not really trustworthy!
I mean use these things for what they are, simple information that has not been verified! The verification is really up to you..
When someone I respect says that a certain bottle is good, I will try it, but if I don't like it I will say so!! Absolutely and every single time!
If you are going to let people taste a certain wine, don't take the word of a so called wine critic that it's wonderful. Always try it yourself first!!!
Always!
