in Exploring SEO Case Study on Flop Idle, Internet Marketing Blog
I ditched all those MyBlogLog (and similar) widgets ages ago off my blog. They were slowing things down and taking up valuable sidebar and footer real estate! It was nice to see my visitors faces, but I'd much rather see their comments ;)

Elliotw That's true about the widgets slowing things down!, I only noticed that once I removed them all, now this site seems to load allot faster than it did.

Did you notice any changes in your search engine rankings after?.

This is completely brilliant! Two of my favorite things, forums and Twitter all rolled into one. ;) Looking forward to trying it out.

in Going a bit squid crazy... on Angela Bradley
I think one of the attractions of Squidoo pages is that you're not committed to a whole site... it's just one page, no pressure, it's quick and easy. There's no registering a domain, hosting it, and all that jazz so its kind of fun to throw up a page about any old thing.

(let's see how your comments work out LOL)

in Kindle In The Wind on Flop Idle, Internet Marketing Blog
I find the process of getting published on Kindle fascinating. I think it's definitely a great choice for anyone putting an ebook or report out there right now. I noticed you can also set it up for people to be able to subscribe to your blog via Kindle, and I love that because it lets you take your favorite blog feeds with you where you might not have been able to before.

in The Tweet to Beat: Paying $3 Per Twitter Follower on The Blog of Author Tim Ferriss
This is fantastic. I followed you on Twitter of course, then sent out a tweet to my followers (@retta719)

I posted the link on my Facebook page as well.

I'll definitely blog about later on as well. I'm opting out of the contests, just happy to help the spread the word for a good cause. :-)

in A Plea for Help: Can You Help Me Help a WAHM? on Work at Home Moms Talk Radio
I totally feel the pain of this story. My husband has been off work since November, about a week before thanksgiving. Fortunately, the company he works for offers disability so he get's half his salary even while he is out of work and recovering from his surgeries that he's had. (Just had his second surgery yesterday.) We've been very lucky that he hasn't been let go from his job during this time (which they can do... scary thought there)

Hopefully Alaina's hubby can get social security disability after his back surgery. I reviewed the application because it was suggested for my husband, but because he gets disability through work we don't qualify. Major surgeries like the one he's having and not being able to return to his job, especially if it's the type of job he's had for a length of time, he should be able to get at least a temp social security disability. Defintiely something to look into to help out with things. I think there's a waiting period for it though, so hopefully your efforts will pull together at least enough that they can handle their rent on the 1st of the month without having to go without something else, like groceries!

I cannot help much, but I pitched in $5 via paypal. I know that every little tiny bit helps in times like these. $5 is five steps closer to that rent payment on March 1st .... $5 could buy a gallon of milk and a loaf of bread one day, you know? So, if you're out there reading this frustrated and thinking "I don't have enough to help," remember every single dollar is something, it does help, and all those little dollars add up in the end.

Will definitely be thinking of Alaina and her family. Kudos to you for helping her in this trying time/

Free is my favorite price ;) I love OpenOffice.org, totally awesome and shows people that Microsoft and Adobe don't own the word processing world! So, any plans for the second report?

in Michelle MacPhearson’s 30 Minute Backlinks on The Friday Traffic Report
I have been using the 30 minute backlinks method for quite some time now and have been really happy with everything that I've learned from Michelle.

I did the method for awhile before I bought any of the additional software, and it worked just fine. The additional purchases aren't necessary, but they do make things faster and easier! The major point is learning to use resources out there that are free in a way that helps you build and grow your website.

It sounds like you made a great change for yourself. Leaving a great group of people like that is very difficult. I hope things work out the way you want them to and that you find the balance again.

If the bag is canvas you can wash it ... if it's leather and the baking soda doesn't work you'll probably be visiting the dry cleaners.

What do you mean calling all mommies? JBoys can do laundry too! :-p

I was really bummed when I saw the previews for this. I usually find Tina Fey really funny and lighthearted... this was just ... ugh. I was annoyed and I didn't even see the whole movie, just previews and clips LOL
