in Can a corporate blogger use the "F-word?" on Scobleizer
Paul's right about us Paddies. I read Tim's post and hadn't noticed the "fuck" until you mentioned it.
As we might say over here "you've little to be worrying about"

in Drinking Scotch while watching Diggnation on Scobleizer
I should really truly hate Diggnation. Someone in Ireland listening to two west coast geeks who say "doooood" every few minutes drinking beers talking about tech stories on a US web-site.
But god help me, they are two funny funny doooooods and I just can't help loving every minute. Top class entertainment. Humour and Tech both travel very well.

in I love Google Reader on Scobleizer
I've been a total Bloglines fanatic for a long time now. I used to just click the top level folder and read everything new using my scrollwheeel.
The first Google Reader was embarassingly bad, the new one is fantastic. I've been using it instead of Bloglines for two weeks now and the only two small problems are the delay whilst it loads up the next twenty posts (why isn't it pre-loading?) and the fact that you can't tag as you quick subscribe (Bloglines allows me to pick the folder during subscription).
Possibly their most impressive release since GMail.
Not sure yet if I'll be going back to Bloglines.

in Does Kiko predict more Web 2.0 failures? on Scobleizer
I spent about a week checking out all the web-based calendars a few months back when I was kicking off our start-up. Kiko wasn't bad but I ended up using Airset for a while as it had Symbian phone syncing.
For some reason they now seem to be only offering that to Verizon customers. Verizon's reach hasn't quite got to Cork yet!
So I'm back on Outlook for Desktop calendar, Nokia PC suite to sync that to my N70 and Yahoo Intellisync to sync to Yahoo calendar. Not exactly slick but at least I have a calendar, contact list and to-do list, no matter where I am. Now if only Yahoo would give some Ajax love to their calendar.
Without decent synchronisation to either a mobile devices or desktop, this flood of wannabe web-calendar apps are just nice toys so your family knows what you are up to. Kiko is just the first of many which will disappear as quickly as they appeared.

in Tom’s Feed management service RFP on Life is grand
Just on the point regarding retaining the feed URL, there is a plug-in for Wordpress which does this for Feedburner. I have it installed at argolon.com. If you try to load up http://argolon.com/?feed=rss , it'll automatically redirect you to http://feeds.feedburner.com/ArgolonSolutions?fe...
The plugin is called Feedburner Feed replacement and you can get it at http://www.orderedlist.com/articles/wordpress_f...

I think you are talking about ndiswrapper. Worked well for one wireless adapter but not for the built-in Dell one.

in The new “Apple is dying” meme on Scobleizer
Until recently, I did think phones were going to kick iPod's ass but my experience with my Nokia N70 proved that the phone makers have a looooong way to go.
The music player on the N70 is utter rubbish, it looks like it was slapped together in a few weeks by an intern. Any of the third party ones I have tried have a UI designed for non-humans.
I have to buy an adapter for the phone to use normal headphones and the cover on the MMC Card slot looks like it cost 0.005c to make and will be broken in no time.
These are simple simple things that Nokia just refuses to get right and until they do, they have no hope against Apple.
Having said that, I think Sony-Ericsson may be on the right track with the Walkman phones.

in Ubuntu Switch on Life is grand
I've tried a couple of different revisions of Ubuntu since it launched and it just gets better and better.
Most recently I did a Dapper Drake install on a fairly meaty Dell Laptop (D610). Worked well apart from wireless which I never sorted (ended up using an external USB adapter) and sound (none).
Easy Ubuntu (as mentioned by Mark Pilgrim) is excellent for installing all the non-GPL stuff.
Last week I installed Dapper Kubuntu on an ancient 7 year old Dell Inspiron 3800. 400Mhz and 192MB RAM. Posting this comment using it now. Worked like a charm including the no-name PCMCIA wireless adapter.
Seriously considering having a look at the server install. I've run Redhat/Fedora since 1997 on my servers so it would be almost as big a wrench as the Mac converts are feeling.

in Cool Web 2.0 image editor on Scobleizer
It's right back to the recent conversations about whether ideas are easy or not. If they were that easy to come up with, Flickr would have done this long ago.
This is a superb tool and I'm not just saying that because I live in the same county as Sxoop!
