in Django and Relativity Updated on Rob's Cogitations
Why is eliminating symlinks good? If I symlink your app into my project, wouldn't it be bad if it still uses it's real location?

Rob Hudson Define "bad".

As it's stated in the post, this is just my personal preference. My intention with the blog post was to explain the differences and you can choose the best option for you. I like realpath myself. You can pick the best option for your use cases.

in The Problem With Django on metajack
James, I think you still have the perception that Django needs to be ready for a release.
What many people are saying now is, that Django will never be really ready for a release. It's a young project and in heavy development. That 90% of Django world is running on trunk which should be a development version with the latest features, that might not work fully, is surely not a good thing.
Always talking about 1.0 does not help. It just distracts from the real problem. And what happens after 1.0? Do you keep telling us that 2.0 is not ready?
Django has a problem and it doesn't seem to be admitted by the core people.

in Lighttpd with Apache on Inércia Sensorial
That's why I made it port 8080 now ;)
Works like a charm with lighty, and now one looks at the URLs anyways.

Why don't just use lighty directly, I mean specifying all links with port 81? Would that be bad?

in It’s Time to Drop the “www” on danielmiessler.com | grep understanding
I think www is still useful, for example in google you can look for pages in www.example.com. But when there's just example.com it will search forums.example.com, too.
And the hierarchy thing is important, too. If you seperate traffic to lets say www.example.com, media.example.com and so on you can speed up your site.

in Make Feedburner Work for you: A How-to and mini-review on Elliott Back's Blog
In my opinion, Feedburner is just crap. It takes ages to load if i read a blog through feedburner.. and i don't really see advantages except that people with stats checking addiction are satisfied..
