in What is something completely luxurious that you dream of owning? on Carrie and Danielle
Carrie, it sounds like you should be on one of my La Dolce Vita Retreats. You just described them -"Travel, massages, fabulous restaurants, yoga retreats." Plus, we have great faculty!

As for me, I'd probably like to own a private jet so I could get to all of the places in a more serene way.

Warm regards,
Janice

in What is your favorite fiction book? on Carrie and Danielle
Does anyone remember "The Celestine Prophecy"? That's one I really enjoyed.

On a different note, Hemingway's "A Moveable Feast" is definitely one of my alltime favorites.

in What do you need to move your vision forward? on Carrie and Danielle
Courage and confidence are the mantras for La Dolce Vita Retreats. Courage to pursue your dreams during difficult times and confidence in yourselves that you will succeed. One of the most important things women need to do, and often don't, is ask for what they need and/or want. We often shy away from asking for help but it is truly amazing what can happen just by verbalizing it, by making your needs known. I bet many of you who have listed your needs today will hear from someone who can help! Women enjoy helping each other. We are collaborative and nurturing by nature.

in Natural Healing: Acupuncture better than Plastic Surgery! on Carrie and Danielle
There are other therapies as well that are extremely effective, namely The Feldenkrais Method of Movement Education. I have information on my blog or you can access info.from the internet. There's a lot of ifo available. Again, it's not just physical but mind-body-spirit. It's really life altering once you understand the concept and practice it. Good luck!

in Natural Healing: Acupuncture better than Plastic Surgery! on Carrie and Danielle
After years of working in health care, I became a strong supporter of integrative medicine and treating the whole person. My company, La Dolce Vita Retreats, bases its programs on the concept of mind-body-spirit wellness as all are very related to the final outcome of wellness. Yoga, tai-chi,etc. Overwhelmingly, though, throughout my exploration of various integrative modalities, I have discovered the MANY benefits of acupuncture. Research at UC Irvine, where I was employed, has established a direct correlation of the use of acupuncture to the significant reduction of hypertension. It also reduces inflammation, as you have experienced, but is extremely efficient in reducing inflammation from auto-immune disorders as well. At UCI and the Samueli Center for Integrative Medicine we use it to treat oncology patients before and after treatments to reduce pain, nausea, anxiety and depression. It is such a marvelous treatment and has been used for over 2000 years. Too bad more people aren't aware.

in Sacred Time Management: Gettings Things Done With Structured Flow on Carrie and Danielle
Numbers 6 & 7 have been my tools and habits for years and because of them, I live a peaceful life in what could be a chaotic nightmare.
It's really such a simple system but it works like no other!

in What’s the best relationship advice you’ve ever given or received? on Carrie and Danielle
I concur. But it took a while for me to reach the conclusion...19 years! But now I am the happiest I have ever been and married to a positive and fabulous man who is terrific with my daughters.

My father told me to find someone who truly shared my values and then be sure to tell each other, in a deliberate manner, that you love each other each day. My husband and I hold each other for a few minutes each morning before getting up to start the day. Once we brush our teeth, we enjoy a real kiss and and take a moment to relect and tell each other how much we appreciate the life we share. It only takes a few moments but we never make the mistake of taking each other for granted. After years of marriage, we still court each other. We send each other random, spontaneous email love notes purchase "just because" cards. We celebrate every day. I buy him flowers.

in What is your big, audacious dream for yourself? on Carrie and Danielle
That is my dream too and I'm actually doing it! Ten years in the planning and I have finally launched La Dolce Vita Retreats. I envisioned all of the things I love to do and all of the things I so wanted to do but, for various reasons was unable to do. I saw my life passing me by, almost like riding on a TGV and seeing all of my aspirations left on the platform. My retreats have given me the freedom to enjoy it all - learn the languages, paint my soul, ride my horses, celebrate the camaraderie of women. The last part of my dream will be to write my book about the wonderful women I meet, their incredible stories and to grace the book with beautiful portrait photography that captures the essence of their souls.

in What is your big, audacious dream for yourself? on Carrie and Danielle
I would like to write a book recounting the stories of the great women I have met in my life and continue to meet. Their stories are beautiful journeys to be shared. I would like to establish an international sorority called "La Dolce Vita Women" that celebrates the camaraderie of women and encourages compassionate, nurturing and empowering relationships.
