What if they let people kiss but stated up front that they would not stop the train from pulling away and possibly dragging your beloved for a mile or two?

It must have been like putting in a Sesame Street DVD for your kids and seeing a message warning that "the following movie contains adult language and some nudity". Most people were probably too shocked to move.

in Gary Vaynerchuk - In the Trenches Bitches Gary Vaynerchuk gets... on Gary Vaynerchuk
I've noticed that most self help books and business books tend to sell the illusion of quick and easy victories. "How to build a Fortune 500 company in just 10 minutes!" As a result, they tend to have the quality and insight of something scratched into the wall of a public restroom. I like that Gary does not sugarcoat things. If he wrote a business book, it would probably be called something like "The Long, Painful Road to Success". The title alone would scare most people off. But it would be worth reading.

It's funny when you compare presentations like this to the ones the auto industry executives are making before the government. Compared to Gary, those guys have the vision and communication skills of a toilet plunger.

I'm guessing this means that GM is now looking for budget celebrities, like someone who was an extra in "Law & Order" or some sort of trained animal. "General Motors: Now accepting less than the best."

I think there are also hybrids out there. For instance, Mike Myers once described himself as a site-specific extrovert. Offstage he is quiet and reserved. Onstage he lets loose. Again, though, whatever works for you.

It reminds me of what I read about how the Dave Matthews Band and Hootie & the Blowfish initially got the attention of the big labels. Basically their independent albums started outselling the major label albums in the local music stores. I can see how grabbing some audience here and some advertisers there on your own could lead to larger audiences and larger advertising deals.

Amazing hypocrisy from Howard Stern. If he continues like this, topics for future shows will be:

> Talking pictures: A fad.

> The Edsel: A car with staying power

> Any day now kids will give up on rock and pop music and just want to listen to accordion solos.

in Gary Vaynerchuk - Why do we only make smart business decisions when... on Gary Vaynerchuk
I think the line "Whether the economy is good or bad, make smart decisions" has a Warren Buffet quality about it. I recall reading a line from him where he said one of his advantages over his competition was that they believed you weren't supposed to think about things.

Acting without thinking leads to:
> Enron
> Merrill Lynch
> Eating any kind of meat that comes in a can
