in Apple Threatens to Shut Down iTunes on Marketing Pilgrim
I think Apple knows what they're doing. It probably has a lot to do with consumer perspective on the price, where $0.99 is "less than a dollar". Even though right now a $15 card buys you 14 songs, after $0.15 raise it will buy only 13 songs. Plus if they raise the price - there might be a shake up in consumer confidence, expectation for future price increase + opens room for competition with iTunes. I don't know what kind of loss there would be for Apple to shut down the iTunes, but it seems like the music industry would feel it pretty hard since iTunes is expected to hover 85% of the market share. Turn it off for a week and see what music makers will say - that would be an interesting exercise :)

in Has the Internet made you smarter or just more ADD? on Roost
I think you're right Derek. I'm spending probably 90% of my time working on the computer. I can't afford keeping track of all the blogging, twittering etc, but I noticed I learned how to tune out everything that surrounds me - all the noise, co-workers etc. I think I even mastered it, but now I'm finding it not always helping me especially home with the family... just because I have something on my mind I don't hear people asking me things 3 times in a row... they think I ignore them, but I don't just hear it... When I tuned out into my work, sometimes I'm trying to get back really quickly just to confirm that I heard someone and I usually say something like - "Ok. I'll do it in a minute." But then I never do it and I catch myself that I even don't know what I was supposed to do... I can drive in a car and never remember the rout that I chose to get to the office... what I've seen while driving etc.... I can drive with my wife and never say a word just because a thought about work can tune me completely out of a real world... this is crazy, it's pisses me off and a lot of people around me. I never had an ADD or anything like this in my life, but this line of work really made me comfortable as far as isolating myself from the real world and sometimes it's pretty hard to get back.

Glad to hear you got a good attorney. Good luck!

Sooo, which part of Ukraine you're from? Your Ukrainian name is pretty obvious, but I wasn't sure if you were born in Ukraine or you're 2nd or 3rd Ukrainian generation in the US.
Those double y's at the end of your last name kinda bothered me... since only in Ukraine they can spell my name as Maksym :)lol BTW, I'm from Lutsk, Volyn region in the Western Ukraine.

in Few Homebuyers Say the Internet Influenced their Purchase on Marketing Pilgrim
Great post Janet, thanks for the stats.
Working in real estate industry (marketing) for over 6 years, I never expected internet to influence a purchase of a property. At least not for an average Joe. Internet is a great informational source for potential home buyers and sellers. It helps to gather information and make and a decision to start the process of buying/selling a property. Real estate agents have an opportunity to show their knowledge and expertise via online medium. If correctly planned and implemented - Internet can be the least expensive and the best long term investment ever for generating prospective clients and looks like the numbers in your stats confirm that.

in Are All Lead Generating Companies Full Of It? on Go Beyond MLS
Vlad, in fact, some affiliate programs do pay per lead. In addition to that, they also pay per sale. I don't know, may be not many companies practice this business model, but those that I use - do.

Vlad, as far as real estate leads, I think it's a good idea to pay upon conversion/sale. But on the other hand, majority of sales depend on the real estate agent who handles them. Also, if you were to implement this kind of lead distribution model, let's say on national level, how would you monitor which leads converted and which haven't?

Thanks!

Vlad Zablotskyy Max,

It is really good to know that you, and maybe other agents understand how affiliate marketing works. In fact this is how I make my living.

Unlike other companies that pay me on pay per sale basis, as you mentioned, it can be difficult to track these transactions in real estate... At least until such time when the entire transaction will be possible online.

However as far as leads are concerned. It is possible even today to track these things. It think it is just the matter of defining what will qualify a lead. Let say a sign up to your monthly news letter can be qualified as lead. Or filling out certain form on your website.

It may be difficult for a smaller companies to be getting into the affiliate marketing model. But it is possible.

Also. In NJ and some other states, it is only licensed agents that ca receive the "referral fee". I am not sure how would affiliate marketing be looked at. But I guess it is up to the layers to figure that one out.

Thanks for stopping by. I will include both of your blogs for the next update to the list- Monday or Tuesday.
