Ah, Wilco. Well done. Sunken Treasure, Via Chicago, and I Am Trying To Break Your Heart could be three of the greatest songs ever written.
I was changed by rock and roll... ;)

I'm wondering if the karmic wheels were just off the wagon last week, because last week could not have sucked more for me, too, and I'm not dealing with half of the stuff you guys are.
The week is over. A new one's in place. We gotta start it off with positive jam... :)

I often tell people that To Kill A Mockingbird chose me. There has never been another book that has spoken to me as deeply as that one did.

Oh, that conversation continued with MJ, to include the funniest lunch combo ever--the Brian Johnson soup and sandwich combo, complete with complimentary thermos.
I'll give you a minute... :)

in 10 Blogging Tips on Chris Brogan
I wish more bloggers followed that advice, particularly not being mean. This culture of meanness on the internet is really starting to make me hate some of the blogs I've read for a long time.

in Tattoo! on Smoke Rings and Coffee Stains
I have a single version of that same knot on my left ankle, which I also chose for the meaning and its connection with my sisters. I'm thinking about my next tattoo to spread across my shoulders, and am looking at designs now. Pat Fish has beautiful art.

I used to be one of your rockstars, but now I just have a lowly little personal blog.

"The greatest tragedy of 9/11 is the fallout on America, our abandonment of rational thought and acquiescence to the doctrine of an administration that does not seem to have our best interests at heart."
Thank you.
Thank you.

Happy Birthday to Chris's mom, and remember Chris, really COOL people have tattoos. ;)
They get them during really cool geek weekends where they meet great people and learn a lot.

Hey, thanks for the shout out! The list has caused some great debate among my readers about the definition of underappreciated.

Special education bitch session. Bring beer and your worst parent story, and it'll all be ok.
In all seriousness, though, a special education roundtable would be an interesting experience. We all have different levels of expertise to share. I found myself playing department head at a training a few weeks ago, in lieu of the training I was actually supposed to be delivering. This educator just needed advice in another area I happen to be good in. Teachers need to network more, I think.

in Thinking Blogger or Writing Blogger on Chris Brogan
Writing blogger, definitely.
Which doesn't mean I haven't gone back and edited the ramblings after I've hit publish and seen them on the screen, but I have always been a writing writer, a talking talker, whatever. Even my few forays into podcasting, with the exception of a song list mapped out, I dove right in without a net. Usually, when I blog something, I've hit an inspirational moment and I just HAVE TO GET IT OUT OF MY HEAD, grammar, syntax, semantics be dammned. Sort of like this comment. ;)

in Cat blogging spaghetti sauce on Christopher S. Penn's Awaken Your Superhero
Ok, I made a big batch of sauce today too, and there were a total of SIX cloves of garlic in mine. Two rough chopped, the other four minced. One onion, NO butter, and NO meat. I think I probably made twice as much sauce as you, because I opened four cans of tomato products, diced, sauce, and paste.
I have yet to cook the meat with the sauce, largely because I don't like the greasy film at the top. I'll add meat to taste after the sauce is cooked. I'm freezing most of it, to have on hand. My mother is half Italian, and my recipe is a mutation of hers, Mario Batali's, and my own ideas about sauce. Last night, I made my first puttanesca sauce as well, and THAT kicked ass.
And, you're absolutely right. Riesling is for drinking, not for sauce. ;)
