in Fill Out Your Profile! on thattalldude
@Zack There definitely needs to be a balance, but a simple tool to identify inactive users would be great, and undoubtedly better for your servers.
I know when I signed up for Yahoo Mail many years ago, they killed your account if you didn't sign in for 6 months. Socialbrowse is a bit different, so maybe easy identification of users who haven't shared a link in the last 3 months.

@Dave I'm a fan of automatically doing things. I have noticed that more people seem to have more information in their profiles lately too, maybe that's why.
I love that you guys so actively listen to us users, Socialbrowse is a ton of fun!

@The Dour Salmon Excellent point about the fonts. I hadn't thought of #3 resembling Comic Sans, but once you pointed it out, I can definitely see the resemblance.
I think I'll be spending some more time at the proverbial drawing board.

Maybe I should just make all 3 of them. I could hand out one of each to everyone, and they could give the 2 they don't like as much to other people.

Thanks Brad.
I keep hearing good things about Back Type, I should really spend some quality time with it and get a better feel for all it can do.
Of course, it will have to get in line behind everything else on that list.

in Inc Magazine- A Video Review on Chris Brogan
I've had a subscription to both Inc and Fast Company for the last year, both are phenomenal, inspiring and informational. They are quite simply, the best entrepreneurial content I have found in print. I look forward to each issue.

For me, it has to be the still very new offering from Google Labs: Multiple Inboxes. It's absolutely decimated the time I spend in Gmail.

in When is it Time to Jump Into Yet Another Social Network? on Mashable - The Social Media Guide
I just love diving into things early on. It used to be less enjoyable, but since Twitter, it's much easier for me to find others to connect with in new services, making it easier for me to find out just what the new social network can (or can't) do for me.

Many of them I wind up using for a couple of months and not paying much attention to after that, but if somebody asks about them, I have first hand experience to share with them.

Did you intentionally leave Evernote off the list?

An intriguing idea, but before I'd do it, I'd need a greater frequency range for ads, I don't want 5% of my tweets to be an ad.

in Small Business is the Economic Bailout on Duct Tape Marketing
Actually, I discussed this a bit a couple weeks ago. http://www.thattalldude.com/main/2008/09/that-7...

Small business now faces a brighter future than it has in some time. With big biz faltering, having overextended themselves, the opportunity has presented itself for reliable, friendly, creative people to step in and fill the gap.

in That $700 BILLION Could Be Put To Better Use on thattalldude
My thoughts are primarily to have money for NEW businesses. From time to time you will find a business that is ready to expand, but needs a little funding, and this money could be used to help them. Overall though, the goal of this would be to help businesses get started. Not just handing the money out, they'll still need to prove they deserve it.

The album isn't dead, yet. There is still hope for it to survive, but we need to break out of a music culture thriving on one hit wonders.

Steven Hodson that culture has been around since probably the first vinyl record was sold and I don't see it going away any time soon

I finally received my copy of the book today, thanks Mashable! I haven't had time to dig into it yet, but I anticipate lots of free time to read it tomorrow. It sounds really good from everything I've heard, I'm excited to be part of the discussion.

in Tattoos, Right Or Wrong? on thattalldude
Great comments from all, but it doesn't matter if you have a 'holy' tattoo or not. It is scarring the body that was created in God's image. If God wanted us to have tattoos, he would have given them to us himself. That's a big reason why I focused on tattoos, it's like telling God that the way He made us wasn't good enough, and we know better than Him.
If you already have tattoos, there's nothing I can do about it, but you may be able to spread the Word of God to people I can't. But again, don't intentionally get a tattoo for that purpose. God will use those who he sees fit to reach who he wants, if he wants someone with tattoos to reach someone with tattoos, he'll find someone who already has them.

in Steve Jobs Still Hates North Dakota on berbs.us

Actually, for about 6 months now, AT&T; has had native coverage in ND, but only if you live in the likes of Fargo/Bismarck/Dickinson. There is still roaming available up and down the interstates, but anything in a rural area is still out of luck. So not all of North Dakota is out of luck, just those who don't live in a large city.

LTE can't get here fast enough.

in Rediscovering the Barbershop on Art of Manliness
You really make me want to visit a barber RIGHT NOW! I can remember visiting one on a rare occasion when I was a kid, but he soon retired. At college, the small town I was in had a barber who came to town twice a week, it really is a manlier place. I am now going to put forth the effort to find a barber who can cut my hair, and hopefully, pull out a straight blade too!

Nice post, I've heard rumblings about Media6 for awhile, wasn't sure exactly what it was they did. I'm curious what, if any, response Facebook has to this.

Do you hear that sound? That's the sound of hundreds, possibly thousands of people who can't stand Comcast, and they're abandoning Plaxo in droves.

in Debating Disqus - Seems Stupid on David Risley
While I understand where you're coming from, and I haven't implemented it myself yet, I think Disqus is a step away from comment fragmentation. They are making a comment service with enough leverage to integrate into sites like friendfeed and social thing, thus making it easier to find some comments. Currently, if somebody comments on one of my posts outside of my blog, I have to hunt it down. With Disqus integration into other services, it makes it much easier for me. They're still young though, so I am highly curious what their next steps will be.

in The really interesting FriendFeed page to watch on Scobleizer
Great post, thanks for the heads up on this. I'm sorry to say I don't utilize friendfeed as much as I should. I mostly just scan it for interesting stuff I didn't see on Twitter. I'm still in the mode of 'sharing' things from my feed readers.
