I agree. What happened to people accepting responsibility for their own mistakes? The economy is tough on us too and IMO has shown us where we were not careful enough in our investments and spending/saving habits. No one forced me to sign on the dotted line.
This HR3221 encourages an entitlement mindset. The government will always take care of us and bail us out.

I've used Dreamhost for about six years. They were outstanding, but they've had some growth issues that would put them at merely good. I don't use their new install of Gmail, but have used Gmail to access my Dreamhost e-mail box for about six months.

in ESPN Makes Smart Move With Andy Gray Hiring on EPL Talk
A no brainer , Andy`s an ex player, been a colour announcer for years and in general just knows the game.
He can also be a homer and at times a bit overbearing.
However Tommy Smythe, knows little about the game, in fact is annoyingly ignorant and tends to irritate the audience with his attempts to appear knowledgable.
Finally someone at ESPN wised up.

in Where "Get Out of the Marriage Business" is Correct on A Stitch in Haste
I was surprised doing research the last few weeks how many counties here either don't do civil marriages or have sharply limited the hours due to budget constraints.

in Linkfest: Even More Gay Rights Issues on A Stitch in Haste
While I agree with you on the big picture impact of the San Diego County Registrar allowing employees to opt-out of performing same-sex marriage, I gotta give props to the registrar himself for making plans to ensure that willing employees will be on hand to do these first marriages without incident or day-marring protest.
Actually, after looking at some of the options up and down the coast, I gotta give him props for even continuing to do marriages at all under the current budget climate. Several counties have stopped (unrelated to same-sex marriage) and simply give out the licenses and make the couple find a separate official and venue.
I suspect the reluctant employee problem will be sorted out pretty quickly once the unions get involved.

in Top 10 Contenders to Become Next Newcastle Manager on EPL Talk
It seems the toon faithfull are unanimous in their choice of former Chelsea man Jose M. Who knows he may accept ?and what about big Phil Scolari? both proven winners.
As far as homegrown managers possibly M. O`N. ,or Hughes, if none of the above are available, what about Shearer backed by Sir Bobby as an adviser.

in Richardson set to send Obama second-choice support on The Iowa Independent
From a New Mexican I hope that it isn't true that Bill Richardson is sending his followers to Barack Obama. As I stand here I am in favor of Richardson and his experience and if thats where it stands I won't even vote for him. Barack Obama has no foriegn experience and at this point in time I don't we believe to hand out the presidency as an on the training program.

i just want to thank you for the nice comments you said about the cosi rittenhouse squad. i have been commuting five days a week from new jersey for over a year now just to be a part of our great team, and it's nice to know it doesn't go unnoticed. i also agree with your logic pertaining to the "i gotcha" attitude compared to the resume. Someday, when i own my own restaurant, there is no doubt that i will be hiring a bunch of "i gotchas"

Someone (who hardly actually spoke) had a really bad case of the sniffles during this podcast. You guys should mute your mics if you're not going to speak for awhile. The sniffles outbursts made it very difficult to focus on the discussion.

in Chelsea v Man United, FA Cup Final: Live & Online on EPL Talk
Gaffer,
I currently subscribe to Setanta, FSC, and GolTV, but the PPV prices are becoming exorbitant - $25 for the FA Cup is too much and a $20 cover is over the top. Hopefully the trend will be arrested - and quickly. I would implore anyone thinking of plonking down $25 for PPV or $20 cover to resist and send a message that soccer cannot become the next Ultimate Fighting Championship in the US. Aren't the broadcasters making enough already??
Go ManU

in Chelsea v Man United, FA Cup Final: Live & Online on EPL Talk
I am sorely dissapointed that I will not be able to enjoy my team thrashing Chelsea in the FA Cup as Setanta has chosen not to show the game live except in pubs with a mandatory $20 cover!!! This is OUTRAGEOUS! I sincerely hope that every pub in the nation is deserted this Saturday just to show Setanta how stupid they are being!! I plan to avoid any news reports and watch the repeat broadcast at home for free.

This all a waste of time. No one is going to change their way of living in enough numbers to make any difference and even God will not be able to save the career of any politician who tries to make them.

in Veteran U.S. Soccer Writer Takes Aim At Premiership & Fox Soccer Channel on EPL Talk
Gardner is a dope. Would he rather watch Serie A? Talk about boring. Maybe the Ligue 1? Give me a break. Gardner is just taking the role of the contrarian to make column-inches. What a fraud.
And since when is the number of goals scored the sole indicator of good soccer? I've seen some awesome 0-0 matches and some totally worthless 3-3 goal-fests. For my money (and I do pay for FSC, Gol TV, and Setanta) the Premier Lg. is the best with the most exciting matches and top teams. The only team that comes close to playing as scintilating at Man U right now is Barcelona.
Gardner can continue to watch the Bulgarian 2nd division for all I care. Give me the EPL.

We are the OVERSEERS! "Overseers". What a downright scary notion, right out of the middle ages and the crusaders. Nonsense that only religion can provide.

in OhGizmo! » Archive » The Cork Catcher Prevents Champagne Related Injuries on OhGizmo!
You are not supposed to let the cork fly off a champagne bottle. The proper way is to hold it with a towel and twist the cork until it comes off with a soft pop, not even a pop really, just a slight release of air. You want to keep as much bubble in the champagne as possible.

It's cool. I've seen the effect with strobelights before (say with a fan) but never thought about pairing it with drops of water. Thanks for a fresh viewpoint.
