You should feel honored, Javier! Did you write him a mail? Maybe he's willing to change the design when he notice he got caught - or maybe he pays you for your hard work? You never know ;)
Douglas Riccardi let their work speak for themself. I think they've chosen a radical approach, but if it's working for them, why should they use a traditional website?
I agree with you (and Steve Jobs), there's no reason why you should follow another one when you have a better idea.
There are agencies out there who are using a plain design without CSS or HTML layout and say: "We don't have a design, because we spend all our time to create YOUR design."
I wouldn't do the same, but it's a creative approach which will probably attract (or at least impress) some potential clients.
I prefer last.fm, TheFeelGood.com doesn't have too many tracks I like. I rarely use last.fm, but right now I'm hearing exactly what I want by just specifying an artist.
