First of all, awesome. So excited for you. Second, my wife said that the IV insertion was the worst part of the birthing process. And she's done it twice, so she knows.

in BatchBook is Great for Contact Management on Chris Brogan
Chris, I honestly thought you could, but I was wrong. If you go to a specific friends list, there's a link at the bottom of the page to Message This List. Unfortunately, you can't message a list with more than 20 members. So no, you really can't, which makes it not a very useful feature.

Interesting product there, but it's worth noting that Facebook has lists too. It's not exactly a tag-oriented implementation like this, but it accomplishes the same ability to message distinct sets of people within your friend list.

Thanks for joining the call last night. I hope it was fun enough to compel you to come back again soon.

in RSS to Email Suggestions on What I Learned Today...
Are they just trying to get email updates of your site? If so, then Kathryn's right and you should just offer the Feedburner Email Subscriptions functionality in your sidebar. It's just an embeddable chunk of code. Piece of cake to implement and simple as can be for readers. You can see what that looks like on my blog.
If they're trying to get email updates of all of their feeds, then David's suggestion is probably the way to go.

in twitter snobbery or basic info management? on eclectic librarian
I don't think so. I use a Tweet Scan feed on my username to pick those up, albeit later.

See, here's where I'm confused. I thought that if I sent an @ to someone who you didn't follow, that you wouldn't see that. Not true?

I use Gizmo Project, which you can use to make a SIP call into TalkShoe for free. They keep saying that eventually they'll start charging for SIP access, but it hasn't happened yet. SIP is the same protocol that the Shoephone uses, but I've rarely had a significant problem with Gizmo.

in Back to Bloglines on What I Learned Today...
I switched back to Bloglines the first two times I tried Google Reader, but the whole "accidentally marking an entire folder read" thing in Bloglines has totally become a dealbreaker for me. I'm only slightly annoyed by the two things you've pointed out, but I would become incensed whenever I lost hundreds of items with no easy way to isolate them again.
