in Obama: The morning after and some last thoughts on The Inquisitr
Thanks for the link, Steven. As if last night wasn't amazing enough, this morning around Queen's I saw students in Obama t-shirts and "OBAMA" written in shaving or whipped cream along the sidewalk. Truly amazing. I didn't even see that much interest in the Canadian elections last month!

Daryl that is because the Canadian election was a bullshit sham :) In the end the government (and those running) spent $300 million over 6 weeks and nothing has changed and nothing will. As it is Ontario it was announced yesterday will be joining the ranks of the poorest provinces in the country. It is no wonder that we look upon what is happening in the US with a forlorn sense of "damn I wish that was us"

Loved this post! Community management is something I'm really into (though not something that I necessarily do). It's great to hear from it first hand.

Regular MoC listener here! I don't have tips per se, but I just took a photowalk here in Kingston and I put my camera right next to the floor to take a picture, which i then titled "fall"

in Whose stuff is it anyway? on Colin Walker
The issue you mentioned about duplicates on FriendFeed is exactly what I'm not liking about the service. It may be different in other parts of the world, but at least for me, most of the stuff gets shared via Twitter, Plurk or Google Shared Items anyway, that yet another shared item on FriendFeed is just needless and unncessary.

in Where Google Chrome Failed To Succeed: The Integration Of Google Services on SheGeeks
I'm going to agree with you! I thought it would at least have the Google Toolbar integrated, but I guess not. But yes, it's just launched, it's not going to be 100%, definitely worth keeping an eye on!

I have to agree with Felix as well. There're a lot of people saying they won't use Chrome, but it IS in beta which isn't MEANT to be "ready". I've downloaded it, found that there's stuff I still need from Firefox that I can't live without yet, but that doesn't mean I've uninstalled Chrome or announced "I'll never use it!". I'll just check by in a couple of months or when someone blogs about it!

Thanks for the kind mention, Colin. I've been feeling the same way as both you and Corvida have for awhile and was on a "break" myself. I'm sure all of us will be back even more passionate than before!

in Would You Prefer Your Articles To Be Dugg or Shared? on SheGeeks
Shared for me too. I don't know many people who use Digg, and here in Asia where community is emphasised (i don't mean online community, but traditional community), it works better when things are shared.

in Why put more money into Technorati? on The Last Podcast
I'm with you on this, Frederic. I don't understand why people look at Technorati rankings/authority anymore considering a blog can be un-pinged for days and scraping sites are counted too. What a waste of money.

Hi Louis,
Very sorry to hear about Molly. I just got a dog myself about three years ago and I can certainly imagine the pain of losing such a loyal friend and companion. It's especially rough when she's been suffering. I'm glad she had such loving owners

I have to say this issue is actually annoying me as well. I sometimes wonder if it would've been better staying as this nameless, faceless Wordpress blogger so that I won't have to be drawn into these issues and focus on what's important instead.

in Net Neutrality Video on Ridz.sg
I'm cynical about the video because it seems like there are videos taken out of context in the mashup. I don't know this for sure, but it watches that way to me.
Conceptually I don't agree with the idea of "control" of the internet and I really doubt it can happen without major, major backlash.

in What I want Social Media Breakfast: Singapore to be | Sui Generis on Sui Generis
But if it's just to be "social", what's the compelling reason to come for this? For eg if the Ping.sg community has an outing on friday night (which is "social"), and our brekkie is on sat morning, there has to be a differentiating factor other than "oh we can see the same ppl again".

I definitely exist in this state for most of the day. Sitting in the bus thinking of what to blog, blogging and watching soccer, listening to a podcast and organising pictures on Flickr. It never ends! However I do admit that when I do need to put 100% attention into something, I have to cut the other things that need attention, or I only absorb/put in 80%.

in What College Students Can’t Get From Blogging on SheGeeks
Hey Corvida, I'm going to disagree with jobs and long-term gratification. You and I both managed to get an internship via blogging (not actually a job, but work with me here). Do students not get blogs because they're blogging nonsense, not blogging at all, or is it truly not a viable option for employment? I just read and blogged about someone in the UK who got hired on Twitter! it's a crazy world of opportunities right now!
I don't know how long-term you're referring to, but my "proper" blog has only been up for about 5 months and I'm feeling very gratified. True my subscriber count is in the double digits, but I know there's a small community forming that's very supportive and encouraging, and that's all the gratification I need!

While we have had success, it all depends on so much. I had a great support foundation when I started, the topics I'm talking about also happen to be really popular even if the field is crowded. Plus, as a student who took the spring semester off, I had a lot more time to stay on top of these things.
Too man factors come into play when dealing with the job and long term part of the equation and those factors can become daunting to college students who are short on time and new to blogging.

in Man U Or Chelsea - Which One Is The Lesser Of The Two Evils? on They Might Be Curly Giants
I'm tempted to say Man U as well because they've really had a good season, but I don't want my Man U friends to be harping how they "won the double" until 2015. So maybe Chelsea should win to even things out.
