Well, since all the delivery dates have slipped a year+, the alarm bells are still softly chiming in the background. Delays are normal. Delays with no communication often mean supreme confidence, or desperate cover-up. Or that they have lotsa $$ to burn.

Nanowire silicon anodes and nanoparticle cathodes on LiIon look much "real-er" to me. At 10X existing energy density and up to 60X the charge rate, they make for a real contendah. That would, e.g., give the Tesla Roadster a 2200 mi. range with reduced weight (the nanowire batteries are lighter). Hmmmm.....

That active service recruitment comparison shows almost 3,000 over target. Mostly in the high-deployment services.

It's interesting to speculate about what the situation would be if the Ds hadn't folded like a house of cards under the MSM assault, beginning with the creation of the illusion that eliminating WMDs was not only the primary but the sole reason for taking out SH.

As for risk, I recently saw a comparison of American KIA/day figures for conflicts from WWI to OIF. It rose from hundreds to thousands WWI to WWII, declined to 20 in Vietnam, and stands at 2 in OIF.

We centrists have innumerable sources of amusement; one is the rightists' knee-jerk squealing when more taxes for infrastructure are suggested. Somehow the libertarian fantasy that needed transportation and sewage systems, etc., will spring into existence just when needed by rugged hand-waving individualists (aka wizards) seems to lurk in all their hearts. Heh, heh.
