There is a slight line between what you say (or at least how you present that) and whats going on. The first is, John is NOT trying to trick the Google's algorithm (from what i see) what he is doing is, selling advertisement spaces. Now, people like the site and like to buy links from there, it could be because his high PR or because his HIGH traffic. Anyway, he could put a rel="nofollow" tag on the links, but he just might not want to do that. Making profit from your blog..there is nothing wrong on that. 80% of bloggers run blogs just to make money, so once you have achieved that why not to make the money? He's ranking it is true that are falling for his name and for make money online term, but have you notice his feed readers since two days? Jumped from 5k to 6k and his latest posts reach 4k+ reads from the site (we don't count the feed reads). This means, his stats did not fall down together with his rankings, actually they went up. The whole idea of his blog was and is to make money from the blog, sort of experiment how much he can earn from his blog, now, he earned 12k USD last month, so i think his experiment was successful..

We can blast and blum and blam and spit on him even if we feel like, but remains the fact that John deserves respect, not because he is a great guy (actually i dislike totally some of his comments) but because he achieved a goal that anyone interested at making money from nothing but writing dreams about. $12k last month...previous months were around 10-11 and 9k an average of 10k per month, thats 310.000 year income.

Glad to hear about the review of the book, hopefully someone will read your name and come by to your blog. Also, compliments for the new look (i love the logo with the hand on fire), even tho it has some errors (the related posts doesn't work) just follow the instruction and create the MySQL query and everything will work out fine ;)

Good news on the review, hopefully someone will see your name there and pass by at your blog. Compliments for the new design too ;) (i love the logo with the hand on fire) even tho it has some errors, the related posts plugin does not work. Just follow the instructions and create the MySQL query from phpMyAdmin and it will work perfectly.

I am not sure if you are using the same plugin as i am (the related posts by Wasabi) but in case you are, (i have cPanel as control panel) from cPanel go on MySQL > phpMyAdmin (at the bottom of the MySQL page, it should open a new page). On this new page (on the left sidebar) select the MySQL database you use for your blog, the page should refresh and you will see a top horizontal menu, click on Query and lower you will see a textarea form named: SQL query on database (your database name) paste there the next code

ALTER TABLE `wp_posts` ADD FULLTEXT `post_related` (
`post_name` ,
`post_content`
)

and click on submit query. This should be all, if even this will not fix the problem than hell if i have an idea without being able to see.

More or less Jim, some big companies like to keep their sales income accumulated and concentrated only in one merchant (unless they receive a high request from their clients to implement and add another payment feature). PayPal indeed is very common to be used by many today, but yet there is a huge number of people that do not use PayPal. I run a web hosting company and i have 90% of my clients paying with credit card, and only 5% by paypal, the rest is by wire money transfer. I could of course force the clients to use PayPal since paypal gives users the option to pay with credit card even tho they don't have a PayPal account, but that would be a hassle for me.

PayPal is good when people pay with paypal funds and you see the money right away in your account, while with paying with other funds it will take a while. Creditcard merchant processors will take only a day or two (some times even less than a day) to verify the card and fund the money in your account.

But i agree with you, for webmasters paypal payment option is just great, flexible and easy to use.

Works or not, once i clicked on the Stats and i saw We are working hard to provide you with blla blla blla the first thing that came in my mind was "Whaa?! This whole thing supposedly was build to create traffic buzz between bloggers and you can't provide me stats?" well, after that...i just rushed out my blog that ugly widget.

I have seen Israel on JohnChow.com and have even seen some of the posts in his blog, to be honest, maybe I had missed that kind of posts, but never saw him rude (well until I did not saw the screenshots).

Even tho us bloggers need commentators, it is true that we don't need bashers too that piss off the rest of the folks, you have made the best decision from your point of view, so everything sounds good.

As for monetizing WP plugins, I would suggest also WPAds (I am not the author, but the plugin really rocks). What the function is it creates zones on which you can place ads, and then rotates them. It works just great for adsense, banner or any other type of ads (i am actually using it for different purposes).

A nice compilation tho ;)
