in Nokia N97: The Definitive Verdict (maybe) on The Really Mobile Project
That's exactly what I've been doing. I have a N95 as my mobile and tether it to my iPod touch through Joiku spot. Works brilliant. BUT, now that the new iPhone does video, there's going to be a lot of really cool things you can do with it. The 12 Seconds app for instance will let you easily record and post videos and do video replies. Probably just the tip of the iceberg as more video apps come out through the apps store. Nokia's are clearly better as phones and for media creation but there's so much you can do with iPhone apps. In a perfect world? A totally touch-screen Nokia N series and an OVI store full of awesome apps.

in Nokia N97: The Definitive Verdict (maybe) on The Really Mobile Project
Played around with the n97 last Friday at Tuttle LA, not really my bag. Qwerty keyboard was a nice touch but the touch screen was
Really difficult to use. Awaiting @msjen's verdict of the N86 after she gets done playing with it. Like that it has an 8 mp camera and the white version looks good enough to tongue ;) gonna weigh my option carefully before replacing my N95.

in Does your mobile speak volumes about who you are? on The Really Mobile Project
Yes and no. No to the people who just think " a phone's a phone". To the rest of us, people who choose handsets that can help us create, a resounding yes! I'm a nokia N95. I create video content. It's, in my opinion, the best video phone on the market. Therefor, my mobile DOES speak volumes about me :)

in Would you pay £12,000 to read a blog? on 14sandwiches
wow, ballsy move. It's certainly worth a go and I hope it works out for them but can't help but feel a little bitter that this effectively ends my love affair with MIR. Will they not have a "lite" version for schlubs like us who've helped build the site through our participation and comments? I understand the need to try and make money from it, it's got to be time intensive, but to cut off the majority of it's readership?

in Why 12 seconds of video is all you need on 14sandwiches
Jeez Martin, you're quickly becoming one of my favorite blogs to read (and not just because you feature me :) ) and truth be told, I've stopped reading most blogs. I've tried so many different video platforms, each have their own merits. If I want to do a longer video post, i'll head over to Phreadz. But my heart belongs to 12 Seconds. Like Twitter, it's brevity is it's power. You can digest so many great videos in such a short amount of time so It's not a time suck. And 12 seconds is plenty time to get creative and let your friends see a different dimension of your personality. Check out @fidlr on here, he makes some great 12 second videos. Cheers!

in A testament to the emotional power of Social Media on 14sandwiches
Martin, I'm absolutely honored that you'd re post this video. It really is at the heart of social media and networking. People have schemed for a long time now to figure out how to sell and market through these networks. None of them have cracked it. Reason? They don't understand that it's all about human interaction. It's about people connecting with other people with common interests, and hopefully, through these connections, we can interact and do cool things together online and in the real world.
The numbers, worrying about your follower count, trying to appear bigger and more popular than you really are is just ridiculous. Quality friends, that's ALL anyone should worry about.

in Can Twitter be used for music promotion? on 14sandwiches
Fantastic post Martin. Musicians who are trying new things fascinate me to no end. Really like the examples above of who's doing it right and who's not. Gives a lot of insight.
Personally, I see Twitter as an extremely efficient way to connect to fans. There just isn't a huge number of people using the service yet to make a huge difference.(They still have only less that 4mm people using it). When the mainstream catches up, and hope they do, Twitter will be invaluable to bands everywhere.

in Which URL shortener is best? on 14sandwiches
hiya martin,
I've used snurl for a while, no complaints. when I was using twirl, they had a great built in url shortener that offered stats as to how many people clicked on a link you posted.... pretty cool if you care about that sort of thing.

in Why we’re so far behind Japan’s mobile technology on 14sandwiches
as a mobile phone junkie, I applaud you. interesting post martin. what about the fins? I'm sure they're right up there with the japanese with innovative uses on their mobiles. I smell a fact finding mission in your future :)

I'm not sure about the Fins, Geoff. I would've thought they'd be only as advanced as the current best Nokia phone. In that case they'd be similar the UK, technology-wise. As for actual usage levels - maybe I can find an excuse to visit Finland to find out! :)
