I have never understood the appeal of this cat. And don't blame the age, garbage is garbage regardless of age group. I liked two songs, that "duffle bag boy" song where he sang the hook -- and I only liked the hook for that song. The rest of the song was a hot mess. The other song was off a mix tape "Georgia...bush" a post katrina song where he rips president bush. Take a listen here. Other than that he's all bitches, guns, drugs and money to me. This is what passes for the best of hip-hop? I'll be listening to Stankonia...stank you very much.

Re: Old School Friday: Gospel/Praise/Worship/Inspirational

Good ones! This was a great song. We use to tease my brother that he looked like Michael Bivins,...he hated that! LOL! They were suppose to come to Charleston last year but had to cancel the show. You know how black folk like to wait til the last minute to buy a ticket.

When they had their reunion tour a few years back, I was living in Durham, NC. My best friend had bought us tickets to see the show along with a couple other chicks. We ended up missing most of the show (coming in at the last song) because we were driving all around Raleigh looking for this chick she was suppose to pick up to go with us. All my friend had was the girl's cell number and she wasn't answering. I was STEAMING!!! When we got to the show the usher laughed at us because we were so late. My girl felt so bad she didn't make me pay her back for the ticket. I seriously had to reassess our friendship LOL! She was Maid of Honor at my wedding but when I think about that night, I still get salty.

Re: Old School Friday - Old School Hip Hop

I loved MC Lyte! Those were the days when a sista could rhyme and not have to talk about sexing some dude or be half naked to sell or get respect! I love me some Freddy Mecury (RIP). And Freebird is a great song! And when you listen to the words and then what happened to most of the band, its gives you chills. I also love Sweet Home Alabama. That guitar riff is off the chain.

Great picks! Happy OSF!

Re: Old School Friday: Social/Political Songs

Is it unbelievably sad or frightening that what Stevie says in this song 30 years ago, applies today?????
