How quickly they forget. Both George W. Bush and Dick Cheney supported civil unions.

It's still South High, no one's talking about changing the name. And they're still the Rebels. Only the mascot logo is changing.

Lincoln was a Marxist? Now there's some history you don't hear every day.

in LIVE BLOG: Obama signs economic stimulus bill in Denver on The Colorado Independent
That's probably another story, but it's also true that many companies plowing the same turf as Namasté operate on similar business models.
rbblum Granted, it IS another story. But it may be a significant business story of success that should be shared to expose the American people that the Management vs the Union story is not the only story for 'the workers' having a vested interest in the business they are dedicated to.

Patiently waiting to hear more of the story-in-progress.

Thanks E.L.

This is the stimulus bill, passed and signed within weeks of Obama's inauguration. No one claims this is the final word on taxes.

The amount reported last quarter by the LDS church was $170,000. Total spent on the campaign by the LDS church was 189,903.58. As noted, California officials are investigating whether the LDS church accurately reported its total contributions.

Nope, it's bottled in Fort Collins.

Wendy Norris That's a relief. Then Mr. Schaffer won't have to make any statements to the press about not witnessing any forced abortions by Fort Collins-based employers.

in Bennet, Udall part of group weighing cuts to Senate stimulus package on The Colorado Independent
Some economists, notably Paul Krugman, argue that half a loaf is considerably WORSE than none, Wildflower. If the stimulus bill's spending is insufficient to stimulate the economy out of a downward spiral, we've added massive debt without fixing the problem and forestalled future efforts to take another crack at it using the same methods -- because Republicans could, reasonably, say we spent all this money and it didn't work, so spending more money isn't the answer.

Those who back as much spending as possible in the stimulus bill argue that only federal spending can make up an anticipated $2 trillion shortfall in consumer and business spending over the next two years. The argument is to spread the spending throughout the economy -- providing money to hire construction workers and, yes, workers involved with movie production and dozens of other areas labeled "pork" by opponents.

in Pueblo manager for McCain campaign arrested on molestation charges on The Colorado Independent
It's not entirely clear, but the sequence of events suggests the woman asked her son if anything bad had happened the night he spent with Bartleson after she saw the report of his first arrest last week. There is no indication she knew about an alleged crime and failed to report it promptly.

in Colorado ACLU: Supermax move for Gitmo detainees would mock justice on The Colorado Independent
The ACLU of Colorado's point is clear -- Supermax is full of CONVICTED criminals, and most of the detainees at Gitmo are SUSPECTS. Detainees have been released over the years after determining they were improperly detained and had no connection to terrorism. There's a reason people across the world still look to the United States for inspiration -- because we have a Bill of Rights. We've got a ways to go before we're "best friends" to everyone in the world, but at least we can start living up to our own ideals.

BobWTX Suspects (prisoners or detainees of war) are not, not guilty either. NO ASSUMPTION of innocence should be bestowed on these foreign fighters.
These are not American gang bangers and should not be protected by our Constitution.
They should be treated humanly but not coddled.
They should NEVER have access to information on individuals in the US. Such as guard's names, witnesses, etc. It's not just your favorite episode of 24, these people have more anti American contacts in the US than the Mafia. And they live to reach out and find ways to kill anyone.
Unfortunately groups like the ACLU, and other lawyers trying to make a name for themselves, and lawyers that are on dubious payrolls, have done all they can to discredit G-mo and spread lies across the world, with the motive to win their cases or inflict problems on the US and previous administration. They are part of a playbook used to win wars like the one we are in now. And the media plays a role, although perhaps not intentionally in all cases.
We need to close G-mo because of the negative relations caused by the situation described above, but it is the best place to work with these people from foreign places captured in an ill-defined war. Get Mr. Obama onboard and witnessing the situation, keep it above reproach, but keep it as a location that is best suited to deal with the evil and yet to be convicted evil. And to keep them away from my kids and grandkids.

in Gannett to staff: Take weeklong unpaid furlough to save company on The Colorado Independent

in KBDI takes regular broadcast signal down to work on digital transmitter on The Colorado Independent
I've had the same experience with several Denver digital channels, both using a converter box on an old set and the digital receiver on a new set. The stations are apparently still working out some kinks with their digital transmitters. On the plus side, KBDI's digital signal has been solid, though nothing but snow shows up on its regular broadcast signal right now.

Second, I used "Senate Seat" to find this lousy written blog.
