Absolutely and completely amazing - this is a great roast of Atwood and I commend you for it; very well executed.

Amen, amen, amen. I had a conversation with a coworker about 4 months ago in which I told him that it behooves Jeff to write such polarizing posts for the sake of driving traffic to his blog (read: his brand). I don't know that he would admit to it, but it does the job. If he were trying to make everyone happy, no one would care too much about what he said/thought.

Great post, I appreciate your take and the balance it brings to the discussion; Jeff is a bit too extreme in some of the things he says time has shown that a balance is typically the ideal.

"It will be very interesting to see the response as all 100+ million of their users embrace the new design."

Yeah, the response from many will be WTF happened? Why do I have to learn the interface all over again?!?!

By the way, I don't know if it's just me, but your blog loads pathetically slow in FF3. Not to mention the right side is so busy that it is a bit of an eyesore.

You should be ashamed for offering it on your blog then! ;) I mean, "Hey - if you want an invite, let me know and I’ll send one your way" makes it sound pretty certain about the possibility of getting one. Now I am going to cry. :'(

Well, seems to me like the right thing to do would be to give it to me, since I posted first. But then, I am a bit biased. :P

Back in the day, when GMail was the new kid on the block and everyone and their mom were clamoring for invites, I just gave them out to the first people that wanted them, regardless of whether or not I knew them/liked them/etc. But this is your thing, do what you will.
