Great news. I don't think Starbucks will become any more or less crowded. They will be stealing business back from Panera Bread though. I know of a few places where panera bread and starbucks are down the street from each other and people choose panera bread just to use the free wifi. So if anything, Panera Bread will become less crowded. Both places at lunch time (in the DC area) have lines out the door, so I don't think that will change much.

The list idea is a great starting point. What I am really eager to see is some sort of data visualization via geolocation or tags of interest... which would of course be selectable and configurable via a combo box drop down... possibly written using action script w/flex or flare. I don't have the know-how or the time to create this user map, but I think it would be exponentially more useful than the ordinary list or table output.

I can't wait to see one year of data on downloads aggregated for itunes vs amazon... I really think itunes is still going to beat amazon no matter what because starbucks is going to start offering instant downloads via free wifi connections in store on songs currently playing... do you know how many starbucks there are and how many continue to be birthed daily (over 20 new stores per day around the world and that is a conservative estimate)

how about the sony reader that has been out for awhile? (duh)

it appears your readers haven't heard of the new revolution taking place where you can replace most of your library of crappy paperbacks that are rotting on the shelves and giving them a new electronic life that live forever as an 'ebook'. The sony reader is by far the best bet, I am getting one for christmas, the amazon one is not there yet. I highly recommend you at least check out the sony reader:

There is some awesome footage of CMU's vehicle navigating the course, as well as a few crash scenes of other vehicles. I posted some on my blog as well. I say this will see widespread use in a military role used as a cargo transport vehicle or a refueling vehicle in extreme/dangerous arenas.

Any a-lists or top ten lists do two things, they bring people to your site, and then generate lots of debate. Also, they usually require less effort than typing an actual full length blog post. So the only negative is really for those who don't join in the debate, whether included in the list or not. Either gripe that you aren't on it, or praise yourself that you have been included, but please do something. Actionable intelligible useful content generated by long tail users will be the basis for web 3.0, that and streaming live HDTV over broadband. CNN is finally listening to bloggers, look for other media outlets to do the same. They actually linked one of my posts.
