Jim: I told @Jesse a couple of weeks ago that he really ought to add a script for mass unfollowing to socialtoo.com - he was considering it, but given that it was only me suggesting it, I don't know that it held all that much weight. But now that Loic and Jason have taken the plunge, I suspect that script will be available there soon. if you can't get someone at twitter to do it timely.

in Twitter Robots Killed Me (And Why I Apologize I May Not Be Following You Anymore) on Loic Le Meur
Loic I'm with you 100%! Just last week my mom fell and broke her hip. She was in the hospital and a lot of folks were sending me public and direct messages wishing my mom well. To then see a "free marketing gift" DM amidst all of the kind thoughts was just a complete turn off. Twitter still has value, but it's fast becoming the realm of multi level marketing.

in 2009/01/07/is-wallstrip%e2%80%99s-cancellation-an-omen-for-original-online-video/ on Mashable - The Social Media Guide
No one would've predicted the death of traditional TV when shows were cancelled in the past. How is this any different? At CraftyNation.com we're producing niche market VIDEOS that we hope will encourage viewers to join our community. As we distribute the videos beyond our social network, we hope viewers will be inspired to join our community.

in What does Wallstrip Cancelletion Mean for Internet TV? on Pravda on Media and Technology
No one ever asked if traditional television was dead when a show got cancelled. Show cancellations are a simple fact of the medium. Audiences are fickle, the stock market is depressing, and people are expecting more from web TV than the typical chroma key host(ess) or street interview format.

in Qik’s from SXSW on Scobleizer
Robert, What a BLAST meeting you Rocky, Shel and EVERYONE else at SXSW. Thanks for the shout out! As you can imagine, I've been spending my evenings adding new Twitter friends. ;-)
I've found that audio is sort of the weak link on the N95, so we've both learned to work the camera mic pretty close. Noisy environments obviously make that tougher. To me, the game changer of the Qik platform is that it lets the audience participate via chat. That is beyond evolutionary.
Oh and that little spy camera that Ivan Pope was talking about is called a minox.

I'm passing this link on to my boss(es). Ze has a unique flair for distilling the atrrophy of my industry into something easily consumed. Am I missing somthing or can we not embed this video?

Huh??????? never saw and add request from you! Just added you now though. ;-)
"Jim does, however, post a little too much as he tries to keep the conversation on a very personal level."
duly noted LOL
"The problem with this it that you need to be able to contact them through some other means, as it’s not possible through the Twitter interface)"
of course it's possible via the Twitter interface. On my "About" page you'll find a link to my blog which has my email contact right on the front page.
Glad we connected on Twitter!

I think you're spot on here (again) Chris. Seems like kind of a no- brainer. I guess old habits die hard.
Just by way of observation here, I saw this video a few weeks ago, and aside from the expected young hipster skew of this company, there appears to be not a single person of color working there.
Again, just an observation, but I find it weird.

in New Media Types- Pay Attention to PodTech on Chris Brogan
chris, you've been telling people to up their game on the video side for some time now. I think Pod-Tech's problems are emblematic of this "anyone can do video" mindset that has driven a lot of emerging media.
True, anyone can do video. That is truly energizing and, in fact, revolutionary. But, just because anyone can to video, doesn't mean they deserve an audience. Here's my comment on Arrington's blog.
"Mike Arrington, at the spring VON conference, at your session with Robert Scoble, you said doing video was “hard”. You were half right. It’s hard when you do it RIGHT. By “right”, I mean having a working knowledge of the language of film.
I’ve got to echo the comments of Mike Butcher here. Video is nice “icing on the cake”, and when syndicated, can drive people to your site. I never really quite understood then need to SEE a 20 minute talking head. I think you can use video to tell business stories in a human compelling way. To do that though you need to have an understanding of the “grammar” or narrative style of visual storytelling.
If PodTech hopes to capitalize on producing their own content, they need to reach out to people who combine a traditional media skill set with a passion for emerging media. I’m just sayin’."

in James Robertson asks “where’s the social networking value?” on Scobleizer
Firstly, thanks for linking to my post! Deb Schultz' tagline on her blog says it best. "Technology changes, humans don't" We want to connect, we want to have a voice and have impact. Some tools allow us to do that better than others. Somtimes it's useful to connect to groups with common interests, other times it's good to get out of the echo chambers.
A Twitter friend @BlondeByDesign asked me to find her a soldier she could "take care of" on trip i recently made to Afghanistan. I met Sgt. Danny Allman in Kandahar and asked him to write down his email. Simple... done. I passed on the info. to @BlondeByDesign and she's whipped up a huge campaign to send Sgt. Allman and his comrades "care packages" The outpouring has been tremendous.
THAT, to me, is a real, measurable demonstration of the value of social networking. And Jonathan, Kandahar, I assure you is about as real world as it gets my friend!

in 3 Ideas on How to Use Internet Live Broadcasting on Pravda on Media and Technology
Kfir, all three of your ideas are very cool. The one that jumps out of me is this:
"Join forces with 3 other video Bloggers and do a multi-location online event, covering one common topic"
I like that Blog.tv allows you to do this. Then you have the synergy of the different locations and all of their communities' chat questions.
Live just for the sake of live is something that gets old. Live tv with purpose, centered around an event of immediacy, driven by networked communities is the real magic.

in Pownce, the new social networking phenomenon - Bull3t's Blog on Bull3t's Blog
I'm not sure if it's a Twitter vs. Pownce proposition. Maybe, both can serve different roles. For me, Twitter is where I have made real human connections. Pownce is highly functional, I just haven't fallen in love with it yet.

in Declaring Your Indepdendence on Chris Brogan
Chris, I'm declaring independence from my role as simply "cameraman" for NBC News. And I've been shouting from the mountain top, to anyone who'll listen, REINVENT YOURSELF. Pioneers (like you) of new media, video blogging and other forms of online storytelling have proven that they can go out there and DO it - produce content, inspire and aggregate audience, and in some cases leverage the viewership for ad revenue.
Just being a skilled craftsperson in the media field is fast becoming a commodity. So I say to old media people - build that social media, community building skill set. To new media pioneers, ease up on the pitchfork and torch, scorched earth screeds that at times dominate the new media discourse. Take a few notes from old media dogs like me. ;-)
These type of collaborations will produce promising value propositions for content consumers and the marketers trying to reach them.
