As creepy as it is, I entered SL after getting a little tired of game modding. It scratched the itch of "making stuff and sharing it." If a service emerges that allows obj import withe the same social potential I think people will switch over.
As a 3D artist I'm impressed by Vastpark and Blink3D. Vastpark has a friendfeed room to show off it's lovely capabilities. Blink3D is web-based if you want it to be, and has a really easy workflow for getting assets out of your 3D package and into a scene. There is a small but growing community hoping that one of these can be adapted to serve as a 3D client for Metaplace, which is capable of sooo much. -
I think it's pretty cool. My first instinct is to say that the angel needs a pose that might read a bit better, in terms of the silhouette. That way we can see what he's holding in his hand more clearly. The bright center of the vortex is a good opportunity to play with the contrast and get him into a cool action pose. Just my opinion, I like it. :)
cedorsett Thank you for your feedback. The image is from a scene near the end of the book. He is holding a Shakujo (religious staff) in his hand, and it is producing the light.
I used MakeHuman to set up the pose as it is described in the book... I want ot say more but I don't want to give any spoilers.
