The real irony is hw someone like Barack Obama who promised to reduce abortions ais putting the most hardcore aboftion advocates in his adminsitration. And how he is supposed ot be pro-choice but will force Americans to pay for abortions and for doctors to do them.

The review failed to include three new studies all showing abortion leads to significant mental health problems for women.

Last week, Dr. Priscilla Coleman, a professor of Human Development and Family Studies at Bowling Green State University, and her colleagues published a study in the Journal of Psychiatric Research showing the link exists. http://www.lifenews.com/nat4617.html

The research team found induced abortions result in increased risks for a myriad of mental health problems ranging from anxiety to depression to substance abuse disorders.

The number of cases of mental health issues rose by as much as 17 percent in women having abortions compared to those who didn't have one and the risks of each particular mental health problem rose as much as 145% for post-abortive women.

For 12 out of 15 of the mental health outcomes examined, a decision to have an abortion resulted in an elevated risk for women.

"What is most notable in this study is that abortion contributed significant independent effects to numerous mental health problems above and beyond a variety of other traumatizing and stressful life experiences," they concluded.

Earlier this week, researchers at Otago University in New Zealand reported their findings in the British Journal of Psychiatry and found that women who have abortions have an increased risk of developing mental health problems. http://www.lifenews.com/int1008.html

The study found that women who had abortions had rates of mental health problems about 30% higher than other women. The conditions most associated with abortion included anxiety disorders and substance abuse disorders.

Abortions increased the risk of severe depression and anxiety by one-third and as many as 5.5 percent of all mental health disorders seen in New Zealand result from women having abortions.

A third study, from a team at the University of Queensland and published in the December issue of the British Journal of Psychiatry, found women who have an abortion are three times more likely to experience a drug or alcohol problem during their lifetime. http://www.lifenews.com/int1012.html

The study showed that women who had experienced an abortion were at increased risk of illicit drug and alcohol use compared with women who had never been pregnant or who gave birth.

Actually, Palin's record is very strong on supporting special needs children.

During her speech Palin said, "as governor, I've succeeded in securing additional funding and assistance for students with special needs. By 2011, I will have tripled the funding available to these students."

That appears to be the case.

Overall funding for special needs students has increased every year since Sarah Palin entered office as governor. Palin increased the amount from $219 million in 2007 to a projected $276 million in 2009.

In March, Palin signed a bill that will nearly triple per-pupil funding over three years for special needs students with high-cost requirements.

The per-pupil funding grew in Alaska under Palin's administration from $26,900 in fiscal year 2008 to $73,840 devoted to fiscal year 2011.

Palin has also directed state funds to other special needs programs.This funding includes $500,000 for diagnostic services for autistic children and $250,000 for training in early autism intervention in her fiscal year 2009 budget.

In an April interview with Education Week the executive director of the Association of Alaska School Boards called the new funding a "historic event."

Carl Rose "praised the changes in funding for rural schools and students with special needs as a 'historic event,' and said the finance overhaul would bring more stability to district budgets," the publication reported.

Bishop Won't Attend Notre Dame Commencement Over Pro-Abortion
Obama Invite

South Bend, IN -- Bishop John M. D'Arcy who oversees the part of
Indiana that includes the University of Notre Dame says he will
not attend the Catholic college's commencement because it invited
pro-abortion President Barack Obama. The president will be
receiving an honorary doctorate and speaking to graduates.

The decision by Notre Dame to invite Obama and UNF president John
Jenkins decision to defend the invitation has sparked national
outrage within the pro-life Catholic community.

It has also produced fallout -- with Bishop D'Arcy not attending
the ceremony.

Notre Dame Students Condemn U Prez for Allowing Obama Speech

South Bend, IN -- While much of the condemnation of the speech pro-abortion President Barack Obama will be allowed to give at Notre Dame's graduation ceremony has come from outside the university, an ad hoc assembly of student groups representing thousands of students is opposing the decision.

The statement criticizes the president’s position on abortion, embryonic stem cell research, and other life issues, and chastises University administration for apparently looking over what they termed "fundamental moral principles."
