Goats are quite timid I've found. Mind you, I've only been around female ones, maybe that is key. They will definitely eat anything with no ill effects. Don't have your laundry hanging out to dry when they're in your back yard!
One of my favourite fantasies is to have bog backyard with some pygmy goats, and lots for them to climb.

Yes I wonder if the shipping "carbon footprint" outweighs the "carbon credit" of reusing the material...my mom grew up in postwar Germany, and remembers taking the same glass bottle back time and time again to the factory itself for refilling (on foot of course!) I know we can;t turn back time, but I think the 100-mile radius food trend that's becoming more in vogue would serve as a good model for a lot enviornmental works. But it doesn't jibe with being a Global Village of course...and trade has always existed between continents, it's really nothing new...
