Note the consistent, disingenuous emphasis on the safety of the "techniques", as if the moral argument had anything to do with danger. (Why not amputate limbs? After all, under proper medical care, this would be perfectly safe.)

As to your PS -- it's a traditional joke dating back, in various forms, to the 19th century. (See Benjamin Zimmer in Language Log.)

Your idea that English isn't English unless the proper names are themselves English is easy to reduce to absurdity -- only a small fraction of placenames in England would pass muster.
