I don't discount what you are saying, I've heard many complaints of over the years about the level of access from many groups in multiple areas from multiple demographic groups. I was just asking for specific areas you are concern with. I can look into Lawndale and Ford Heights.
I will say advanced services such as Broadband are generally deployed under the "NFL City" strategy and out from there. So it doesn't matter if you are rich or poor the affect is the same based on how far you are from the target market.
I can't speak to independent companies but i can say, from my experience, price gauging, at least in recent years, is rare. But like I said, I am interested in specific examples and companies.

First of all there really IS a deep digital divide. Corporate America, most notably the telecom companies and Big Media have every reasons to deny this, but it is a fact. Here in GA where I live I can take you to small and medium sized towns --- even to spots in the burbs of Atlanta where once you cross the line into the areas inhabited by African Americans, the price of broadband doubles or triples because the cable companies are permitted to redline our communities.
I have to disagree with this and encourage you to give more information. I work with these big companies, ATT, Verizon, Comcast, and while there are areas that aren't served with basic plans they do not divide across racial lines. Mostly it is based on proximity to major areas and I have found the people most affected by this are the Western, non Pacific states which are mostly white. Worst case the Wireless Internet cards work almost everywhere (and I've been to some random places) and the price is standard. But if you have specifics please let me know as I have access to execs at all three companies.

Barack Obama's Cover on Rolling Stone.
Thank God he is wearing his flag pin otherwise that would be the story not the fact that he graced the cover without words typed across his picture. I am sure however the happiness he shows will be interpreted as "smug" or "uppity".

Nevertheless the "talking white" thing doesn't sit well with me. Can white people stop saying that!
Thank you! But black, brown and everyone else needs to stop saying it as well.

Um...is there some great tradition of Phillippino cooking that I don't know about at The White House?
Uhhmm Lumpia. The anticipation of those crispy little meat filled delights can make anyone fumble their words.

I hope the pendulum has gained momentum and will swing all the way around so that real progress can be made this time.
Well truthseeker, we can agree on this.

truthseeker, I am not looking for a fight, the dress part, maybe. My only point was conservatives have no more power over liberals then liberals have over conservatives. And each extreme faction of either side may look down on the other but it is an equal extreme disrespect. I don't think the general view from conservatives is that liberals are weak minded or easily swayed. In fact in my experience as of late liberals are more vocal, influential and more quickly accepted then conservatives. This may be a complete tangent to what you were saying. But it is what came to mind when I read your post.

truthseeker, just to clarify, is this your feeling of how conservatives view liberals?
That social justice is weak. That those who seek social justice are weak-minded and weak-bodied. That the liberal-minded need to be protected by the "grown ups". That those who seek to use government as an instrument of social justice are impetuous children who can be easily swayed by argument, criticism, innuendo... That the unwashed masses will submit to their own destruction in support of the neo-conservative mythology.

And of Conservatives are so happy why are they hanging out at JJP?
Because JJP is a site that focuses on politics from the perspectives of African Americans (at least I think it is). I have yet to read, or seen, that conservative opinions are not welcome.

Those who manipulate social justice are weak, those who act irresponsible do need protection, but those "weak people" and those that are "irresponsible" do not define liberals. If they did then yes your original post is true. However this and a lot other blogs have shown "that those who seek to use government as an instrument of social justice are impetuous children who can be easily swayed by argument, criticism, innuendo..." to be untrue. If anything liberals have a loud voice, louder and more accepted then the voice of the conservative. I don't believe that there are any more conservatives that look down or have influence over liberals then liberals look down on or have influence over conservatives.

The problem with many conservatives is they believe their own bullshit. They really do believe the liberal-minded are weak-minded and easily led. Repubs believe they have special persuasive powers where they can engage in psy-ops type manipulations on message boards. They should take care their fellow citizens do not turn on them in the ugliest of ways.
Out of curiosity, how do liberal-minded people feel about conservatives? I get that liberals and conservatives view the issues differently, but if it can be said that conservatives believe their own bullshit, can it also be said liberal believe their own bullshit? If you come from a position that all conservatives are wrong and all liberals are right or vice-versa will we ever get to an understanding of both positions or is that not a goal?

Charlie Black of McCain's campaign is almost an afterthought.
This has been the lead political story on all the broadcasts I have seen today which has mostly been on MSNBC and Fox. I don't think this story is getting lost in the suffle.

in Pat Buchanan Award on Jack and Jill Politics
Jonathon Weisman like comments are so frustrating. I've heard them all my life, when I do something "socially acceptable" I'm not black when I get mad and go off "I'm showing my blackness." Nevermind I am the same person in both situations. The nations general feeling that black/brown is bad, white is good is so tired, but as this article points out it is far from being a thing of the past. I am not, nor is anyone I know striving to be "white". Success is not measured by how aligned you are with "whiteness" but is measured by things such as getting the best education, doing well in your chosen profession, taking care of your family, living a good, clean, happy life. These aren't "white" traits, these are American, hell, human traits.
And it makes me even more annoyed to read articles like this because my nieces are bi-racial and love and know about each side equally. I hate to think that they will be taught that one side is better then the other.

From yesterday:
"Even if you never met him, you know this guy," Rove said, per Christianne Klein. "He's the guy at the country club with the beautiful date, holding a martini and a cigarette that stands against the wall and makes snide comments about everyone who passes by."
Combined with Donnatella Versace dedicating her Spring 2009 collection to her inspiration, Obama, makes Barack the most fabulous gay man in America. Another voting block won!

in Saturday Open Thread - Come on in! on Jack and Jill Politics
From the Washington Post:
In a Post-ABC News poll last month, nearly nine in 10 whites said they would be comfortable with a black president. While fewer whites, about two-thirds, said they would be "entirely comfortable" with it, that was more than double the percentage of all adults who said they would be so at ease with someone entering office for the first time at age 72, which McCain (R-Ariz.) would do should he prevail in November.

Oh God my stomach turns just looking at the SWOT analysis. Too many evenings trapped in a room doing account strategy sessions.
However it is an effective tool and the Angry Independent did an excellent job putting this together.
It's very thorough and touches on all the key points.
Now the for the Project Plan.

Question: WHat do you think Condi Rice will be doing post-Bush Administration?
I think she will be back at Stanford eventually returning to her role as Provost or lobbying for her dream job as NFL commissioner.
