Haha-good ol' Renton! - Anyway, on topic - dont we get this 'Germans hate Brits' story at the start of every summer?-its so boring now man!-Ive made some great friends with Germans over the years, indeed whilst staying here: http://www.ramadajarvis.co.uk/gatwick a couple of years ago, i met a German Youth Football team on a tour of the UK and had one of the best nights ever! Ive actually found your blog post too late - i had an excellent tale of my experiences on my first trip to Wales last year. oh well, maybe the competition will run again next year - plenty of time to refine my piece!

BART sounds like a very efficient transport system - we in Scotland could learn alot from it. Our system has pretences of integration but fails at almost every hurdle. Our boat and ferry operators are excellent though-this is becoming a very popular mode of transport. Unfortunately, it would take about 3 days for a ferry to get to San Fran from here!

Things were 'exploding' into some quite stunning plants - sadly though, most of my parents lovely Veg Patch was subsequently wiped out by torrential rain up here in Glasgow over the last few days. Im really going to miss that Lettuce. Oh well, just have to start again! :/

Hi-yep, i agree it will be almost impossible to reach the targets. However, it was good to see something from the government on this issue-hopefully they will really attack this and get our renewable energy production levels up-weve got a long way to go still to catch up with the Germans and we will never touch the Scandanavians (if memory serves, norway are already on 108%!)-however uk green energy supply is becoming more popular amongst consumers-quite an encouraging trend.

The $100 lap top has the potential to revolutionise the third world-a slightly more basic EEE PC is hopefully not too far off.
