Things were 'exploding' into some quite stunning plants - sadly though, most of my parents lovely Veg Patch was subsequently wiped out by torrential rain up here in Glasgow over the last few days. Im really going to miss that Lettuce. Oh well, just have to start again! :/
BART sounds like a very efficient transport system - we in Scotland could learn alot from it. Our system has pretences of integration but fails at almost every hurdle. Our boat and ferry operators are excellent though-this is becoming a very popular mode of transport. Unfortunately, it would take about 3 days for a ferry to get to San Fran from here!
Offbeatmammal I remember getting a bus from London to Stirling many years ago, and regular commutes LHR to Glasgow then drive to Endinburgh and fly back to Heathrow ... never really found a good public transit solution in the UK outside of the Tube (when it was working!) Big fan of ferries though. I lived in Manly and worked in Sydney for a couple of years so the Ferry or JetCat to/from work was a great way to relax
