in Email is not the social network - A Rebuttal on Alan
There is an interesting app that allows IM with all of your social networks friends. It's called 8hands, and it's not as known as you would expect, but it's a great tool.
there's media share by dragging items to the IM window which is very convenient, and you can update your status from its interface.

in MySpace and Facebook - We Can Co-Exist on Marketing Pilgrim
I simply use 8hands, the profile aggregator, which help me use both Facebook and Myspace i the easiest way- I get notifications for every little thing and I can access every profile- (my friends or mine) from a single entry point.

8hands is way better- it not only notifies me whenever a friend uploaded photos to Flickr, it also aggregates MY profiles and I get notifications for private content as well.

The add-in for Word is pretty groovy, I use it to publish and I use 8hands to get updates and real time notifications.

in The 19+ Social Network Aggregator List on The Fatty Talks
8hands is definitely the best one!
I'm gonna explain it by your criteria:
A) I use FB, Flickr, YouTube and Twitter, which are all supported by 8hands. I don't really care about others, but I think it supports a few more.
B) It has lots of functions that helps you organize your online activity- First off, the friends aggregation sums up to a top 8 list based on amount of communication. You can also IM and share media, which is nice.
C)It may not be the easiest one, but don't you underestimate these kids, They can handle more complexity than most of us grown ups.
D)I don't think that something like loosing passwords could happen in 8hands. and it not a site. that's the best thing about it- it's a desktop tool so all your notification are shown in the tool bar and you don't have to keep a browser open. as far as I know, It's the only desktop social aggregator.
E)Sexy? hell, yeah! It has the sweetest icon.

in mylivesearch beta goes live, doesn’t even support Firefox! on Final Tag
They have got to be kidding!
They were better off postponing the beta launch!
Did they actually expect someone to use IE? They lost me as a user, that's for sure.

It's not a bad idea.
I'm all for unifying social networks into one access point, and it seems like another step in that direction.
But still, the best way to organize social activity is by using 8hands.
With that cute desktop tool I get notifications from all of my profiles and communicate with all my friends, whether they're myspace friends or my FB friends.

in 2007/08/21/mylifebrand/ on Mashable - The Social Media Guide
Since I'm an addict to the social networks trend, I've tried MyLifeBrand, Tabber and 8hands.
Out of these three optional solutions to my social frenzy, the only one which came close to please me was 8hands.
I'll start by saying that it's the only desktop aggregator available, and for me, a desktop tool is better than another site added to my fully booked bookmarks bar.
The second thing that makes 8hands stand out is the fact that it calculates your friends from all networks and rank your overall top 8.
I think it's important to understand that there's a great requirement for one platform that will unify all social networks into a user's social activity.
I don't see the need in filtering my friends by their network- on the contrary!
Most of my Facebook friends also own a Myspace account, I would like to be able to aggregate my communication by friend, not by network.
Right now, 8hands, With their top 8 friends, seems to be the only one who get it.

Forgive them! It's just an outage.. Skype have supplied a great service from their very beginning!
I hope that the ones who've downloaded an alternative p2p will stick to skype and prove that human beings are more compassionate and forgiving than assumed.

kennethfcca Good one Tony!

These guys get right up my nose! The least setback and they are in like vultures.
But then they do say business is like a Brothel,
everyone is out to screw each other

Tony I totally agree. If microsoft of my cell phone provider made a similar mistake and it would be met with a shrug of acceptance because the alternatives aren't there.

Skype has alternatives, but I started using it because the product was just that good. If I did drop it, it wouldn't be because of a couple days of downtime. I'd drop it because it became just as bloated and insecure as MSN. It's still a good product and even good products have bad days. I see no reason to go shopping for something else.
