This time, I purposely went to a simple digital 3D theater (Pacific Culver) to see Beowulf, and it was much much better. Actually, the best part of the 3D experience was the teaser for Coraline in 3D - I can't wait to see that one next year...

Re: Email Marketing Company Plagiarized My Work!

Dugg!

Re: Apple Finally Emailed Me A Relevant iTunes Promotion

If only Apple was 10% as smart than anyone else! I received that "relevant" email too, although I am not a parent and never listened, downloaded or even searched any podcast about parenting. Maybe it's my age. Maybe it's the voice of my conscience, Apple giving me a life tip! Anyway, I am still desperate about how iTunes sucks at behavioral targeting. They know everything I hear, everything I buy from them, and still they send me those lame newsletter with country music, hip hop and other mainstream artists. Steve Jobs still needs to read the Long Tail.

Re: I Joined A Startup To Help Bring Some Simplicity To Our Complex World

Congratulations, and good luck with this new venture. A club with a lot of bankers maybe, but the network is about lifestyle, not work... Like most VIP areas, those who want to get in would do anything to get in, even if it's dull inside. Just being one of the happy few to get in is a reward in itself. I had many opportunities in the past to see that aSW is a real community, and that the exclusive selection process works. If you have never tried to get in an exclusive private party in NY, Paris, St Tropez or Hollywood, you will probably miss the point. The site is not very sophisticated, but who cares? Its users are not computer geeks, and the goal is not create new connections or flirt online... How to make money out of aSW is another question, though. Clubs charge cover charge and (more importantly) bottles, while everything is free on aSW. If aSW manages to find premium services for its members (and if you don't buy, you are not welcome), it will become a highly profitable community. If advertising remains the only revenue, I am not sure of the potential...

Re: 2006/07/26/sportsmates-launches-sports-themed-myspace/

Hi Peter,

Great blog. You should check Play Not Watch. It doesn't look web 2.0 at all, and actually it was probably launched more than a year ago, but it is working as a social network to meet people to join a soccer team or play tennis. I joined a year ago and receive invitations to join teams all the time (I am busy or too lazy to use the site to its full potential)

Re: 2006/08/01/look-out-dell-sutori-is-coming/

"I’d like to see something similar for the blogosphere - compare the mentions of “Dell sucks” to “Dell rocks” and aggregate all this data in a goodwill meter for brands"

I think that Opinmind has created what you are looking for:

Bloggers like:dell

Re: 2007/08/06/online-polling/

"Poll Me Now" is a lot of fun too: http://www.pollmenow.com

Re: 2007/12/03/internet-video-producers-have-a-plan/

With 2-3 million views per month (that's what? 500,000 viewers per episode for a five-minute episode), Ask a Ninja is getting an audience close to some of the small shows on cable TV, which benefit from the networks' massive advertising sales teams. I would be curious to compare the difference in advertising revenues per user between a small cable TV show and a major video podcast. Does anyone happen to have the data?

Re: 2008/03/28/google-earth-hour/

So, Mark, will Mashable turn off the lights tonight during MashMeetLA?

Re: RSS readers versus “Live” news website

I also use Newsgator. If you pay attention to how Alexa gets statistics, you will realize that their data is not that reliable. In market research terms, let's just say that Alexa's representativeness is at best questionable (personnaly, I believe that there is a lot of manipulation of Alexa statistics since panellists are self-selected). I hope that Hitwise, which has much more reliable data, will release some stats about MySpace in the near future.

That being said, MySpace may have reached its peak, at least in the US. Analysts should keep in mind though that International markets are just starting to be unsing social networks, which might change the game.

Re: Defining Tagging

Thanks for the great advice.
