I am so very sorry to hear about your grandmother and I'm terribly sorry AA didn't take the opportunity to be a 'people company'. That really sucks.

We had a family emergency in 1990, five of my family members were in an auto accident in Seattle on vacation, one of whom died. My cousin, who was around eight, was in a cast from his feet to his chest. We desperately needed to get him home to Dallas, in time for his father's funeral. The airlines were SO uncooperative with us - my dad was on the phone all day making magic happen - and that he did! John was home in time for the funeral.

Darn those airlines!

I totally agree with you on the video production - I was so impressed! I haven't had a chance to watch the whole thing yet, but, I thought it was just so exciting to have a show of that quality about internet marketing!

Hey Jim - completely love the new theme! It looks great and it fits better in my screen!

I use the Firefox plugin, Twitbin, so I can just pull up the tweets in the side of the screen and I normally just read what's going on right then. I will occasionally look further back in the history - if I feel I've missed something. But keeping up with everything everyone has said? No way.

Web 2.0 activities eat up too much of my time already!

I love Revenue magazine! I get so excited when the new issue comes - I take the laptop and my new magazine and hide out in my bedroom, absorbing as much of it as I can, until I inevitably doze off. Hmm...maybe I should read in the living room and not in bed, huh?

Ok, that's great, I totally get that, I'm learning to look at all of this with 'branding glasses' on, instead of the hyper-crazed, "I need links! I need links!" kind of way! (Hoping the Niche Widget is the same...) If I were, however, to hook up with, say - a cool personalized book company - and along with the video, I wrote a short post to go with it, in which would be a link to them. Would I need to discuss with them, that the link would be no-follow? (Sorry this is so simplistic, I'm just venturing back into the world of marketing and branding again, after being distracted for over a year, and completely engrossed in the 'buy links/sell links' world which was not really building a long-term business for me.)

I love the idea of your mixing it up, Jim - because, I really like both formats. I enjoyed this one today, very much! With the short formats, like James said, they are short and sweet and we still get our nuggets. With the long one, we get to listen to you ramble and as we follow you on your mental path, we see your 'lightbulb' go off and you give us multiple nuggets - kind of like a voyeuristic brainstorming - since we're not helping out! So both ways rock!

It was interesting that you brought up the lighting, because, I had recently noticed that light of yours in the corner and had meant to ask you about it. I'd love to get a better look at it, and know where you bought it, too.

I would love to win a Flip camera! Most definitely!

I've slowly been building up my community there over the years, mostly for 'personal' social reasons, but, the audience I have there now (when I stay active there) is good, you know? People think, 'Myspace? What can Myspace do for your biz?' But I think it is a great tool. Not to mention a great place to hook up with cousins, school friends, etc.

And Ustream shows, they are so great, even the minimally-attended ones!

Oh Maria, my heart is just breaking for you. What a horribly difficult thing to go through. I have a 110lb 'beast' who is just my baby! Last year he had an ear infection and that made him act differently to outsiders - not his sweet, loving self. To think of him turning on me. Oh. I'm just so sorry. I'm sorry you've been hurt so badly and I'm so sorry you've lost a dear friend, a darling member of your family who really would never want to hurt you. (Man this post turned me to MUSH! John - As far as the name goes, we have, in fact, adopted a 'newer' meaning of the term 'pimp'. And I have accepted it and haven't even cringed (too much) when hearing my kids use it, referring to TV shows or myspace themes, etc.

There was one lady that gave me pause, though, and she is an ex-hooker on MySpace. And so I am on the fence again, about the term. Read some of her stuff and you can get a feel for where she's coming from, as well. I love this saying - I'm glad you've collected it, so that I may now, too! It's really made me stop and THINK about the moms, etc., who buy my letters for their children. I can't really even quite put it into words, but, since the first time I heard you say it - it has been an 'A-ha!' for me, too.

Maybe the best way to explain is just to say that my brain has switched from thinking, 'How many letters did I sell this month? How can I sell more? I need to sell more...' to... 'Oh, these moms, PEOPLE, that are interested in my product, what is it they hope to get from me? And how is it they want their child to benefit from their package?' etc

Something like that. You know, sometimes 'a-ha' moments are so much like spiritual experiences - when you attempt to put them into words, it just doesn't cut it.

I definitely try to do the Flylady 'put on my tie shoes' thing! Just that one little thing makes SUCH a big difference for me! But the funny thing is, I just rearranged my office two days ago - and even though it is a big mess in here - the arrangement of the desk has made me feel more professional. And it has gotten me in a more productive frame of mind.

I've also decided - No More Piles! Not on Mom's desk. I don't care if I have to bring a separate little table in here for 'the pile' that always accumulates in here - the desk is now off-limits. I really cannot function when I'm being swallowed by the mess on my desk.

This was a great, and definitely timely, post! Thanks! :)

What a great idea! I'll have to try this out! Though with all of the different things I often do in the shower - different face soap, different armpit soap, shaving...etc....it could be tricky.

But if I get it to work out, it could sure streamline the whole process! That would be a relief!
