in Woman hit by car and seriously injured on Nashua Telegraph
I know this woman and she is one of nicest most wonderful people you can imagine. The police need to do something about this area. There is a crosswalk and knowing this person I say with confidence that she was in that crosswalk. I just thank God that she didn't have any of her three kids with her. Please pray for her because I know that is what she would want more than anything.

in Nashuatelegraph.com: Dog owners encouraged to clean up after pets on Nashua Telegraph
Karin Gevasco, You are correct. You have every right to be upset. The dog owners (who do not clean up after their dogs) run rampant in Nashua. I cannot walk down the street in my neighborhood (which does not have sidewalks) without dodging around piles of poop. Who in the world lets their dog poop in the road and not clean it up. Take a walk around my neighborhood and find out. I have had people let their dogs poop at the end of my driveway! Do you have any idea how hard it is to get dog poop out of tires (you have to when you park your car in the garage) WoodSix8 my question to you is WHY? If you do not even live in this area why are you making negative comments. If you are lonely get another dog (but to remember to clean up after it) I have NEVER seen dog owner put dog poop in their backpack. That does not even sound logical. I have seen them tie it to the leach. I think you might be telling stories. Marliyn are you serious or did I misunderstand you. You expect Karin to pick up someone elses dog poop and trash while she is on a walk with her 1 year old. When I want my son to pick up his room. I teach him how to pick it up himself. I don't do it for him. Most of the time he just needs a reminder (which is what Karin was trying to do. . Alex F, can I spin something. It is the parent (adult) that should be teaching THEIR children by example to pick up their trash. It is the ADULTS that make the mess anyway you look at it. Joey's Mom --- Stray DOGS are you serious. I have NEVER seen a stray dog at Mines Falls. I love all these pet owners that are getting so upset. Can you guess why they are upset? Because THEY ARE GUILTY. They don't like being reprimanded. I doubt any person that responded to this letter (that has a dog) picks up after that dog EVERY TIME. Your angry because you are busted. The worst part of this entire situation is to take a walk around ANY school in Nashua. YES DOG OWNERS where our kids play. You will find so much poop it is amazing. What kind of person takes their dog to a school to walk them. Dog Sitter are you saying that people cannot tell the difference between dog poop and bear, skunk, or any "wild animal". You are in denial. There is not doubt. Dog poop is dog poop and MOST dog owners are irresponsible. They only pick up the poop if someone is looking. Otherwise they are just praying their dog hurries up before someone comes!

I take offense to you saying that most dog owner's are irresponsible. I am the proud owner of two dogs and am very responsible. I always pick up after my dogs when we are in a public place. I am an animal lover and as a result have many animal lover friends and family who are all responsible for their pets. Saying that most dog owners are irresponsible is like saying most parents are irresponsible. This is not the case, but unfortunately one bad apple spoils th bunch. Dogs and animals in genreral provide us with many positive things and as with anything else, it takes certain people to bring a negative aspect to a positive thing.

Very, very funny! I think you are correct with most of your comments!
These comments were not to those who pick up the poop. And if you are mad at what was written by lukie.. he's probably right... you're mad cause you're guilty too!

Lukie and Amused, I spend at least 3 weeks in Nashua every summer. I walk the trails of Mines Falls, Greeley Park and other trail systems in the area. I do think Karin targeted ALL dog owners "I'm sure you already know that Nashua has laws that require you to clean up after your pets. Not once have I seen a dog owner walk out of the park with a bag of dog waste." I am an avid hiker and I carry my trash out of the woods I do not carry it on the leash for several miles. I place it in a ziplock alongside empty water bottles and food wrappers. People who do not pick up after their pet along the trail irritate me also... but then again people who throw litter, cig butts etc irritate me even more. At least the poop is biodegradable and there are other animals pooping in the woods.... I come across plenty of deer poop whenever I visit Mines Falls. So Karin, why don't you worry about the guy or girl driving 50 through your neighborhood vice Dog owners of which the majority pick up after their dogs. Oh and Lukie.... I room with a friend who has a St. Bernard and a Doberman..... tell me we don't ever pick up after them.

I'm sorry you live in such a neighborhood that dogs run loose all the time and do whatever dogs do. However, I find that unreasonable, as I live in a neighborhood and on a 9 house street that has at least 5 dogs, and NEVER have I seen a dog dropping anything.
No, I did NOT say that the letter writer should pick up others dogs poop. I said that I swept it aside when I (rarely) found it on the path so that children such as her 1 yr old would not step in it.
And yes, I did pick up bagged poop that I found thrown into the woods along with the misc. trash I was collecting.
Lady, you seemed to have hit all comers with your letter. To me, it sounded as if you have some issues of your own concerning dogs that, perhaps, you should find some way of dealing with it.

Gotta love those firefighters. I agree I have seen them around our neighborhood too. Thing is that should also be the responsibility of the home owners and neighbors. If the hydrant is on your property it is your responsibility. I know we try to keep our hydrant clear (our neighbor usually beats us too it - it is on his property.) It is only common sense.

in Nashuatelegraph.com: Keep 'Pledge' and God in our schools on Nashua Telegraph
FED UP. We teach our kids that the majority rules but that is so far from the truth. We cater to the minority so much in this country that it is not funny. The MAJORITY of Americans do believe in JESUS but that doesn't matter. All that matters is the minority that we might offend. The only people that have had their religious rights stomped into the ground are Christians.

We have been tricked into thinking that other religions are our "enemies" when in fact these people are not the ones that are attacking our religious rights it is the good ole American ATHEIST! Home grown terrorists.

It should not be the city's responsibilty to clear the sidewalks in front of homes. Maybe the city works would have more time to spend on "their" property if they were not trying to clear everything. I know they plow the sidewalks for the entire street of Bicentennial Drive. These homeowners should be clearing their own sidewalks. The should be ticketed if they do not.

I agree... but don't be overzealous with the tickets. A kindly tap at the door would be nice before issue of a ticket. Some folks are elderly and/or incapable of taking care of their residence. Make sure sonny boy isn't showing up in a couple of hours to take care of Grandma and Grandpa.
