in Do you remember your first? on Twittermaven
First off, thanks for the shout out.

And the number is 3200: That's the last tweet you can get (page 160), anything over that isn't accessible by UI or API unfortunately at the moment.

warrenss Noah, thanks for checking in. You've got a fun tool. Hopefully, Twitter will fix the db so that we can get beyond 3200.

Alan Wolk (The Toad Stool) Excellent article Noah. Good companion to the WIzbang post for all those asking "Who are these people.?"

Thanks for the tip.

Dude, that was a stressful read. Glad you've got it back. Can I suggest adding "set a master password" to your list of things to do?

in Open Data on JG Etc.
The idea makes sense, but I guess my question is why is that good for users? I mean it's great for the sites/ad world, but why does it make anyone's life better for them to share their behavior data (even if it's anonymous)?

jamesgross the idea would be that you would have a certain amount of control over your data that you could do what you want with. I could even see the day when an ad comes with a little statement, "why you are seeing this ad" that when clicked could give you your activity stream for why that ad is being served to you.

in Sitemeter Has Problems But Who’s Darren Paul? on WinExtra Comments
I'm guessing it's not the Night Agency Darren Paul, since the email (which I also received) had an 818 number ... Also odd was that his email address wasn't his name ... It's mysterious.

in The Tyranny of Search on The Toad Stool
I'm not sure I agree/understand ... Basic SEO is fairly straightforward and there's a hand full of tips everyone could take to heart to help them rank higher (simple stuff like optimizing your title tags so the searchable stuff comes first and using semantic markup). However, the single most important aspect of SEO is the quality of your content: The more people that like it, the more people that link to you, the higher you show up in the results. I mean I get what you mean about Flash/AJAX and the issues it presents, but I think there are larger issues at hand (like brands tend to make useless websites that nobody want to visit).

in Welcome, Unknowns on sarahintampa
Thanks for the add Sarah, hope you enjoy (and the randomness doesn't overwhelm).

As for folder schemes in Reader, I prefer a tiered system: I have my friends (which I read first), followed by tier 1, tier 2 and (you guessed it) tier 3. To be honest, though, I hardly ever get to tier 2 or 3 . . .

Good points Paul, you articulated a bunch of things I've been trying to say . . . The value is almost entirely short-term, which in reality, was the big question I was asking with my post to begin with: Will Facebook survive for long, or will it be supplanted by yet another social network?

in Ideas and Execution on The New PR
Half-ideas aren't a problem on their own. But if you've got no plans to iterate and turn it into a full idea you could be in trouble. I think a lot of these ideas come to life when people refuse to share their ideas with others out of fear. They try to get their idea out there as quickly as possible and miss out on the great feedback you get when you share ideas.

That's fantastic Paul, thanks for sharing. And I totally agree, Adam, it does seem like out of any nationality the odds for the person to be Irish seem best . . . why is that? Are they just friendlier?

Not as much as Amit likes Campaign Monitor, though.
