in Twitter Client War: Twhirl vs. TweetDeck on Scobleizer
TweetDeck. In addition to the river, I'm able to sort out the @replies (@rockmanac in my case, btw.), the DMs, and groups for local people, friends, and local/national/breaking news.

Which Canon? I don't really have an opinion, since I don't have a DSLR.

I'm currently holding the Nikon D90 on the left and the Canon EOS 40D on the right. :)

in The 10 Users You’ll Meet on Twitter on Mashable - The Social Media Guide
Interesting article. I would say Scoble should almost be a default follow to all
new users without question. Other than that, I'd recommend that you find some
local people from your city and follow them. There are tools out there that'll
help you find them. (I'm drawing a blank at the moment, but I know I messed with
one recently that was ranking people from Madison by follower count.)
Anyway... Another of the twitterati that you should follow is Dave Weiner. He's
an interesting fellow, and of course, Mr. Leo Laporte.
Oh and while you're at it, feel free to follow me :) @rockmanac over there.

in Why blogging comments suck on Scobleizer
Are you running on a ".com" or ".org" Wordpress? I'm on a ".org" and have disqus running my comment system and it works a TON better than using Wordpress' built-in comment system.
I'm sure you've used it before, but feel free to drop on by and check it out. Link should be attached to the comment.

in 10 Reasons why Twitter is for you and FriendFeed is not on Scobleizer
I never really got into FriendFeed. It just seems like too much info for me. Actually, sometimes I get overwhelmed by my twitter stream, too, but at least Tweet Deck lets me make categories for my friends.
Btw... You forgot "newscast director in small, midwestern city"

I hate DMs. I get DMs from people and then I end up forgetting where information is because it's not in my e-mail!!

in Why I love the US auto industry on Scobleizer
I used to own an American car, a Saturn... My previous cars to that were American (and Oldsmobile and a Plymouth). When my Saturn got totaled (not my fault), I looked at the American cars and guess what, I couldn't find one (this was 2006) that either wasn't an SUV because they were well out of my price range, or one in my price range that didn't suck and wasn't horribly small. Oh and none, and I mean NONE, were fuel efficient.
I went over to Toyota and was able to find a compact, but with space, fuel efficient Yaris for a good 5k less than what the cheapest Chevy was priced at!! I'd be tempted to buy another American made car in the future, especially something like the Dodge Caliber. It's a cool looking car, and everyone I know who drives them loves them, but when I needed a car, they were nowhere to be found!

in Tech Bloggers WTF is Wrong With You? on LiveCrunch Technology Blog
"Same thing with media, they rather roll 24/7 videos how Paris Hilton is going to Jail than what is actually happening in World."
Ugh. Once again, someone who is telling us that the media would rather talk about Paris than something happening in Paris. You know what, it's just not true. I work in TV and not everything is "OMFG What did Paris do today." There's a time and place for stuff like that, like a 4 hour long morning show which needs stuff like that to act as filler material, but I challenge you, sit down and watch an evening newscast on one of your local stations... As long as you're not sitting in LA, you'll probably see real news for 99% of the show.

in 2008/10/30/why-is-video-laying-off/ on Mashable - The Social Media Guide
It's not just the online video world, the TV News industry is seeing a lot of it's own downsizing and cutting back. Watch your local news and I'll bet you'll notice a lot more station promotional spots and PSAs in the commercial breaks.

in This is a Test on PHP-Princess.net
In IL when they install a new one of those signs, it says "SIGN TESTING" on it. I think it'd be totally funny if one of them used "Hello World" to test a sign.

Bummer... Not on the list. Oh well... Maybe I'll have to work on things so I can be on it on the next run.
Not that anyone would want to read my blog at chernow.org/blog (oh God I sound like Dvorak) 'cause I don't write much interesting stuff.

Interesting... The software I use, and that which has long been recommended by most people I know, NOD32 is not on the list.

I would think so. On my hosting, I have a drop-down box that lets me select PHP4 or PHP5.

Nelson,
I did some checking... It looks like it is PHP that's the issue. I tried activating it on a WP install with PHP4 and it failed, but it activates fine with the same install when I tell the domain to use PHP5.
If I have some time this weekend I'll check into seeing if there's an easy way to make the plugin PHP4 compatible.
Sorry 'bout the PHP issue!

Nelson,
I'm not entirely sure what would cause that error. I'll admit not very many people have tried things and it seems to work on my setup.
Where are you hosted? Does your host have CURL enabled? Did you set execute permissions on all of the php files? Did you upload all of the included php files?
Unfortunately, I don't have internet right now due to AT&T;, so there might be a delay in replying.

Nice app... Why, though, do links in the app open in IE when I have Firefox configured as my default browser?
