So the good thing about all this is that you can step in here in the middle and totally deactivate it as well. You can then use your old account on any other phone you decide to install ShoZu onto, and all of your old settings will sync up with that device.

Hope you manage to recover the phone but I fear it might have become a permanent part of the Paris tarmac by now!

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Best,
Jambo

mark.jambas@shozu.com
http://shozu.vox.com

Re: Losing A Phone - A Social Media Security Breach?

hehe we have separate teams who look after email support and to the ones who look after blogs, and we both saw this one about the same time :-) Thought you and your readers might appreciate an answer on your blog rather than email in case others have the same question.

ShoZu will now be completely deactivated and if anybody tries to do an upload it will just throw an error and tell them it's not activated. We totally agree that our sign-up procedure on certain phones could be a little less confusing, and we are working on that as we speak. ShoZu has traditionally been used by the techy early adopter crowd, but as we move into more mainstream partnerships like Adobe we are setting about making everything a lot more consumer friendly :-) ShoZu is also pre-loaded on many millions of phones out-of-the-box, and Apples iTunes store certainly makes life easier too.

In regards to the connection issues you had, I've checked back on the date you posted this review and we did indeed have an extended maintenance window so I have to apologize for that, it is also why our website was extremely slow. We haven't officially launched our Adobe service just yet so there are many upgrades underway before we announce the official integration, stay tuned and hope to see you back soon!

Any other questions, feel free to get in touch.

Best,
Mark

Consumer Experience, ShoZu
mark.jambas@shozu.com

Re: Shozu to Flickr to Wordpress - an experiment with Robin Hamman

Hey there,
Looks like it worked perfectly :-) Welcome to the ShoZu community.

Happy snapping.

Best,
Jambo (ShoZu)

Re: How To: Upload Your Videos and Photos To Multiple Sites From Your Nokia Cameraphone

Hey Mark
Thanks for the awesome review of ShoZu and our CC feature! Good to see you highlighting some features that many people may not know about. We're busy adding Flickr video too, but the email workaround you have pointed out works just great in the meantime.

Stay tuned for a ton of new partner/upload sites coming real soon...

Happy snapping!

Best,
Jambo (ShoZu)

http://shozu.vox.com

Re: Comparison: Who Wins In The Nokia N78 vs Nokia N82 Battle?

nice comparo :-) i have to say after playing around with the n78 i still prefer the n82. it's all about that flash and camera for me since i use it as my main camera these days. it's always disappointing heading back home to the US from europe and losing the rocketship data speeds, but i'm happy enough to wait for wifi if i really need it. also dont need the mp3 transmitter, so n82 is still my favorite and the nokia phone i recommend the most to our pro customers at ShoZu

Best,
Jambo

Re: YouTubing from the N95

Hi there
Thanks for your comments on ShoZu. I'd just like to respond to the question on battery life as we've seen it come up in other blogs before. There's a great post on our forum from our Client Architect which I hope sheds a bit more light on this:
http://forum.shozu.com/showthread.php?tid=545

We are working on an official version for the N95 which addresses a couple of issues and will also wake the GPS in the background automatically so you can tag your pics. The problem with the N95 is that the GPS antenna takes quite a long time to get signal lock so we are working around that (in the meantime you can simply have the Nokia Maps or Sportstracker app running in the background and we'll detect your coordinates).

Hope this helps and happy to see you having fun with our app!

Best,

Mark
ShoZu

Re: Comparing N95 to iPhone

Hi there,
Interesting discussion on this blog as always. I'd just like to jump in and add a few things about ShoZu. We've actually released an updated version 3.20.51 for s60v3 (ie. the N95) a couple of weeks ago which you can download from our site and addresses a few of the memory concerns with this phone. All ShoZu 3.20 versions use a new replication engine so we've also upped the limit to 10MB file sizes and are hoping to increase this again in future, dependent on phone memory constraints and some intense testing.

We're also big fans of the iPhone and will be announcing a service soon for iPhone users to simplify the file sharing experience.

Best,
Mark (ShoZu)

Re: Manage social networking media with ShoZu

Hey there everyone,

I'd just like to clarify that the BlackBerry version of ShoZu is coming soon and you can put your name down to be the first to know when it's ready over at www.shozu.com/blackberry

We've spent this week on the RIM booth over at CTIA Wireless in Las Vegas demoing the upcoming release to a completely captive audience! It was awesome and we can't wait to announce the full release version soon which we are working hard to cram even more features into than the one we have been showing.

Thanks for your interest and stay tuned :-)

Best,
Jambo

http://shozu.vox.com

Re: Live from the L.A. It totally transforms the images from this phone.

It's a shame you were one of the few who had trouble with the original N95, but it is actually our number 1 S60 device in regards to user numbers. Sorry you couldn't really join in! I know you love the auto-upload feature but you could always use our new MMS/email gateway if you don't mind a few extra clicks. You won't need the client installed, just add your email or phone number on the ShoZu site and it'll use all your current settings. More info here:
http://shozu.vox.com/library/post/shozu-now-sup...

The newer versions like N95 US and N95 8GB (and N82 of course) are pretty flawless with third party apps thanks to double the RAM.

In regards to the 10MB limit, well we have to keep that in place on the free service to keep our commercial paying customers happy so their service is always running smoothly. The bigger problem you'd have with uploading huge clips is actually flattening the battery with all that data transfer. But now that we've raised it from 4MB to 10MB we are definitely looking to the future and hoping to do something similar again further down the line.

Look forward to your full N82 review :-)

Best,
Jambo (ShoZu)

Re: I’m Off To Nokia World 2007!

Cool, It's great you're doing some live coverage because I can't make it either. One thing I just wanted to clarify about ShoZu is that the latest version lets you stop ShoZu from running in the background and starting automatically. And thanks for highlighting that we've been doing it for a year too ;-)

Haha and I see you found one of our phone theft stories -- ShoZu to the rescue! The first ShoZu phone theft story to go public was actually back in August 06 and received over 270,000 hits on some of the Flickr pics. The World; More Than Just Video Streaming

Hey there,
Interesting read. Kyte certainly offers a great widget and is doing a good job of making their presence known. I just want to touch on the comparison made with ShoZu and point out that we really do offer a very different service and experience.

The comparison made in this interview is more akin to the very first incarnation of ShoZu about 7 years ago (called 'Cognima Demonstrator') which offered upload of photos and videos to our server where you'd have your gallery and friends. It was nice but things have come a long way since then.

Nowdays, people have their friends and communities all over the place on multiple social networking sites and as soon as we launched our open gateway product, ShoZu, it was so successful we re-branded the entire company to carry its name. Not just 1-click and zero-click uploads with smart background auto-resume, but subscribing to your friends content/status feeds, changing your online status, geotagging, two way messaging, etc - but most importantly, none of this is focussed around our own site, it's all about our full integration to 30+ other sites (as well as FTP and email) and growing every couple of weeks. Of course, as most companies do, we have a widget too called ShoZu Slideshow which is brandable and can catch all your uploads so you can just plonk it anywhere on the web for all to see. But our flagship service is so much more popular we mostly concentrate on expanding its possibilities.

It's interesting to see both products side by side, but i have to say that the quote of "we do mobile uploads like Shozu" is not very accurate. Nobody does mobile data transfers like ShoZu which is why we hold so many patents on our technology.

Thanks for the great read! See you at SxSW.

Best,
Jambo

mark.jambas@shozu.com
