I thought it was really interesting and a lot more accessible and up to date how they reported this story. It's definitely an appealing way to report on a developing story. More news services should put their trust in blog-style reporting. :)

Obviously the Olympics won't make Chicago a 'better' city. Anyone who has any common sense in Chicago really isn't rooting for placement of the Olympics here.
But really, I can't blame the Mayor or the people who are rooting for it; any mayor in The United States sees the Olympics as an opportunity and the people on the South Side (where the stadium would be built) see it as job openings, but aren't realizing the detrimental effects it will have.
I just REALLY hope the Olympics don't come here in 2016 or I might be having to move to what I see as the 2nd city as a Chicagoan - NYC. ;)

FYI-
This is a livejournal of a VT student who was presumed to be the shooter (looked alike, LOTS of pictures of guns, sappy breakup entries, etc.). Then he took it upon himself, when his hits got up to over 30,000 in one day, to sort of lead the public on, eventually confessing that it wasn't him, and it wasn't even really a hoax. Very confusing. What do you think about it?

I really feel that Anderson Cooper could have done a lot better job by including a definition of the 'subculture of violence' and explaining the pretense on which the trust and respect complex works within that community. I think Cam was right to call him out and straight up tell him that he has no idea how it works. If Anderson has an idea, he could at least attempt to explain it to the "60 Minutes" audience, who are most likely not considering it.

Not becuase of the team, but how emotionally involved you get! It's exhausting watching you watch the games.

This place definitely makes up for the lack of seating with its amazing sandwiches. Although I live pretty far from this establishment, I will definitely take time out of my day to get there early enough in order to snatch up a tuna salad sub before it is gone. Vinnie's is worth the trek!

Do you honestly think they will actually increase it to that? From living in Chicago my whole life, I can attest to the fact they always propose a larger increase, then it ends up being a nickel or so. That's what has been happening since I was younger, from what I remember. Hopefully the $7.00 is a shockvalue thing it and it will lower if it actually has to happen.

I'm glad that woman was fired. I mean, there has to be something wrong if a huge successful store like Macy's can't even promote itself to the many Chicago shoppers. When it comes down to it, a store is a store - albeit no Fields - but if Macy's charmed Chicagoans from the beginning, it would never have lost this many sales.

Not to mention Macy's would have been able to welcome the 'abandoned children' of Fields (including myself) into its new foster home.

I agree with Todd. Macy's doesn't carry nearly as much high-fashion as Fields use to. They tried to salvage the image of the '28 shop' by redesigning the actual shop, but what's the point if the only real high-end fashion that's left is Missoni?

I wouldn't say Nordstrom is getting sloppy seconds, they just have always had a younger generation of customers. Now instead my grandmother being loyal to Fields, she tags along with my mother who is in her 40's and a frequent Nordstrom shopper.
