I am 49, with a kid @ college - another 3 years and I should be able to follow my passion...I hope :-) - show a middle finger to my boss- walk out of the door and decide whether its the sax I want to learn or a language or just write a free wheeling blog on nothing but something

Outlook - is ..for office ! that means everything from firewalls to office emails etcetc . Google reader is for all my RSS feeds . All else is folly

A lot of people tend to think that, but I think they're wrong. Not only do I not have to worry about syncing my email across devices, but I also get to use the richer interface of a native application rather than a web site. Also, I find that I use a lot of the additional Outlook/Exchange functionality here at home. For example, my wife and I use meeting requests to remind each other of appointments or social engagements. Geeky, yes; but, effective.

in 4 Great Sites For Finding Popular Content on SheGeeks
Dude - it gives me ( at this stage) nothing more than I already get at Friendfeed and Link River - both of which allow me to follow lot many more writers . Thumbs up or whatever rating systems are used are prevalent in Stumble in any case and I get access to much larger range of readable matter.

Hi viki. Just curious if there is anything specifically you don't like about BlogRize? Is it confusing or you just don't see it adding any value?

in The First FriendFeed Event: MSFT and YHOO on Scobleizer
Ok Dude - check it out ...am going to be as impartial and unbiased as I can possible be . I did a quick 90 secnd scan of both feeds. TO me the comparison is as follows - one of them is a like talkshow = Jay Leno , the other is like a mix between a talk show and a newscast = CNBC . No prizes for guessing .

in Life Before Twitter… on SheGeeks
I kind of agree with Phil's observation. It is a bit like TV ....when you just pop off the top of a cool one, flop on easy chair opp the telly and then proceed to mindlessly channel surf - from ESPN to Asian food to CNBC to History to MTV and so on. Thats what Twittering is all about . Mindless - aimless - a tweet here - a comment there - NOW on your day off, go back to your Reader, and read all the nice feeds hat you have marked for yourself - the operative word here is "Read" - not skim thru a zillion tweets !

I can't READ all of my feeds. Those will be skimmed too.

Totally hear you ....and I was beginning to wonder about the increasinglevels of noise from muliple channels and what was the point in following so many ....twitter, fb, ff, linkriver, tollu, linkedin....and of course then theres the email and the reader ...phew ! You are right .... I would rather come home and sprawl in front of the telly....rather than flip in and out of the comp AND the telly ! And I am just the "user" -not the provider like you guys
