in If you find any of those website elves, send them my way on The Evolving Newsroom
A very good point; I think the 'goodwill' element of newspaper websites is seriously underestimated by some media companies.
Staff may jump through hoops to deliver the best online coverage possible because they are professionals who feel passionate about what they do... but that doesn't make it right. Enthusiasm is not a bottomless pit.
I think the issue may be linked to the fact that many execs aren't really sure how their website works, unlike the production of the printed product, which they understand.

in Streaming from mobile phones on The (e)Grommet
Hey Grom! Until last week I would have said I preferred Qik to Bambuser but I'm starting to think they have different strengths. I like using the webcam on the laptop for Bambuser - good to talk to people while you think, if you like - and I find the comments box really useful. But Qik is good for instant rection and (at the moment) I pick up more UK users. It was also easy to embed the film on my blog and on the work website.
Final note, when I was streaming the TM editorial leaders lecture I had to go to Bambuser because Qik kept spitting me out. And if I'd been streaming a breaking news event when that happened I would NOT have been amused...
Loving your work! ;D

Only one way for them to find out... get stuck in and start using them!
