in MN first state to ban ex-con job profiling!!! on The Liberator Magazine Blog
This is a step in the right direction.

On the other hand, does anyone know what's behind the new (2007) racial categories on job applications that separates Hispanics/Latinos together and everyone else is broken down under Not Hispanic or Latino. I know what the official explanation is. Is it simply a matter of the continuing effort to separate people and have them perceive themselves to be different?

Our elders and parents must remain aware of the changes called modernization, be it in thought or technique. Likewise the younger generation must be able to do the same in reverse. When both can appreciate each other's place of reference, then we can communicate and create legacies.

in "Bolivia is the Saudi Arabia of lithium." on The Liberator Magazine Blog
Good for Bolivia. I hope it maintains its socialist concern for the people. I think they are going to far when demanding the electric cars are manufactured there but reinvestment of foreign corporate profits and the manufacture of the batteries in Bolivia seem reasonable.

Thanks for this perspective. Most things that occur, when seen in complete context, are exposed for the double standards applied.

I agree. If only we could agree on a few important points and work on those goals and leave our religious and other beliefs elsewhere.

Yep. The more socially acceptable these things become the more scrutiny they should receive by each person before signing on.

Funny like scary. It has been this way since their conception. All about them so we should divest ourselves from their influence by turning them off and turning to our media providers.

The notion that poor means having nothing is exposed for its foolishness when I consider my upbringing where making the most of what you have and making it despite what you didn’t have served as incubators for creativity.

in Your Space in my Blog: 3rd of April 2009 on Paulo Coelho's Blog
During Loss, Don't Lose Spirituality!

Know that despite your circumstances, you can be a tree in the bayou rising out of water, transforming and reestablishing yourself because as you grow you continue to see the expansiveness of the spirit. While you grow towards the light and allow others to reach heights, alligators swim at your feet but are limited because their growth depends on predatory behavior. Consider them with a dispassionate view when they do what they do because just the other day, I saw a simple woman eating alligator. Its albino heart she tossed back into the bayou and it settled near the roots of the cypress.

in Your opinion on: Signs on Paulo Coelho's Blog
Just as Paulo mentions there are signs for each of us to receive individually. I find this true when trying to understand the meaning of poetry. Poetry whispers something different to each person. Some poetry will urge you to take a step towards your own personal next level. Its purpose is to not leave you where it found you. There's really no cause to be intimidated when it comes to understanding poetry. Poetry is like a child seeking friends to get to know. Welcome it and soon enough you will learn that poetry understands you.

in Askia Muhammad: Nation Of Islam is Black Power on The Liberator Magazine Blog
I agree that the Nation of Islam and most things Muslim are feared by many Americans and many Blacks, be they Christian or not. We bought into the hype.

For my dollars worth, the Nation has done more good for Blacks than bad and it is up to us to correct its inadequacies just like the Catholics must correct the bad parts of its church.

in Fear Culture and Fear Itself. on The Liberator Magazine Blog
I agree with the following two quotes that are absolutely scarily funny:

Oliver’s conclusion? “There’s no red America, no blue America. There’s just one scared shitless America.”

If you aren’t afraid of germs, you haven’t been watching enough TV.

Now for the following quote from the article above:
"For Obama to make good on the politics of hope, though, the American public must continue to demonstrate the resistance to fear they showed by electing him."

Yes there was a resistance to fear but a lot more of an embracing of change and hope and a resistance to be driven wrecklessly but Bush who was intoxicated with power, had a stolen license, did not have the capacity to operate a vehicle and had a disregard for the rules of the road.

Those who elected Obama must make sure Obama adheres to the reasons he was elected. If his electors do not, there will be a tendency to play it safe (fear disguised as caution and prudence) and continue status quo behavior in areas where fear needs to be resisted most. Haven't we seen some of this already? His campaign is no longer keeping me informed with all those emails I used to get. I fear they have lost my email address.

Fear is what I've been talking about. Fear can fool you:

achali "fear disguised as caution and prudence"

a very very very key point.

"His campaign is no longer keeping me informed with all those emails I used to get. I fear they have lost my email address."

LOL... it's like they broke up with millions of people... cause they got the cow and the milk... no more late night phone calls asking u to bring a neighbor out to the neighborhood obama meeting? no more text messages? :)

that said... the new episode of South Park does an excellent job of putting this "scared into hope" phenomenon in a perfect metaphor...i'll try and post the episode if i find it...

in How Wall Street is like a corrupt police department on The Liberator Magazine Blog
Where there is money to be made there is madness to be money makers. The police can't help but be corrupt since they are the main "peace time" eforcers of the corruptness in government. Knowing this, the only one to police them would be the military if the government wanted to get rid of their own thugs.

in The specifics on just how evil Wall Street is. on The Liberator Magazine Blog
The saying, " you can catch more bees with honey" applies here. The bees are the workers. They are the people whose money is being used in every conceivable way by Wall Street. IT is being used by pension plans, 401k's, banks using our deposits, etc. The honey makes us believe the sh*t they tell us. We believe them because they honey is used to disguise and sweeten the sh*t. The honey is mainly used to make sh*t stick that wouldn't otherwise on its own.

achali excellent analogy. so simple. but i often the simple things are harder to understand for some reason... or maybe they are just harder to admit...
