So when someone does not share your political ideology, they are "totally ignorant on politics?"
And what part of
"Or be a true American and vote Libertarian"
is radical?
However, I do agree with the intent of your post. David Ponce, posting political entries on a non-political blog is bad form. I appreciate the sentiment behind your post. But 100% of the political posts I have seen on non-political blogs have run similar to this one. Best to stick with the blog's theme. That is what unites your readership. Introducing anything else is likely to spotlight our differences.

tintin Well put skeptic.

And David, don't presume you speak on behalf of everyone in Canada, not to mention the rest of the world. There are just as many people outside the US that are disappointed to see either McCain or Obama elected as the next US president, as those that are happy with the election results.

I've always liked that Ohgizmo seems impartial when it comes to gadgets, just presenting the facts and not claiming some piece of technology is more awesome than another. Let's keep it that way when it comes to politics too.

So we've stepped away from fascism and toward socialism. Meh, pick your poison and drink up. Or be a true American and vote Libertarian.

First, no one is meddling in our politics.
Second, that is an extremely hypocritical statement coming from an American. Are you completely ignorant of all the governments and elections the CIA has corrupted?

Yes, and I am certain that African Americans all over the world are proud as well.

That's a joke.
Laugh.

in The Return Of The Zeppelin(No, Not The Band) on OhGizmo!
Bah! It is not the hydrogen that caused the Hindenburg's fateful notoriety. But it IS the resulting stigma spread by an ill-informed populace/media that caused the hibernation of these great beasts of the sky.
Every day there are fiery car crashes. But people have not abandon gasoline as unacceptably dangerous. Kitchens explode from natural gas leaks from stoves. But no one is banning natural gas to the home.
Hydrogen has superior lifting power over helium and until Airship Ventures moves zeppelins back to hydrogen, they will never be more than a toy company.

in Science Thursday: Smallest Possible Letters Written With Atomic Pen on OhGizmo!
“it’s not possible to write any smaller than this.”

That is an incredibly naive statement. Firstly, "atoms are the absolute smallest things stable enough to let us push them around" that we know of right now.
Secondly, these are silicon atoms. If you use carbon atoms (one less electron shell) wouldn't it be smaller? Or helium (two less electron shells)?

Bah!

in Put That eSATA Port To Good Use With A Dual-Interface Flash Drive on OhGizmo!
I call bullshit. The bottleneck on flash drives is the memory itself, not the USB2.0 throughput. USB2.0 throughput is 60MB/s. But you are lucky to find a flash drive that can read at better than 35MB/s. Using a connection with faster throughput does not improve the speed of the memory chips.

Scott_T Ditto to what skeptic says.
Rimka If you read the article it states that this isn't flash memory, it's a Solid State Drive (SSD), which can reach significantly higher speeds (Samsung just released one that does 200 MB/s). So while this won't FULLY utilize my poor SATA port it will certainly go much further then a flash drive
