Hey James.... glad ye liked it. It was funny that I couldn't find much on SEO and Analytics when researching the post; a virgin query space for the most part (weeeee).

I figure I might take a stab at using the new segmentation on some SMM stuff as well.

..and stop being a slacker!! 3 weeeks??? Yer killing yer peeps ...lol

in Reflections Of A Dedicated Plurk Fan on SU Comments
To be honest... since thread segmentation was one of my fav parts (over Twitter) losing the private Plurks has caused me to have even less interest. It's become little more than a scrolling Twitter lately... sigh...

Ultimately I feel the Karma back fired as many peeps I know have been frustrated with it. If you think a day off is painful, try taking 3-5 days off.... it is mildly insulting really.

If you ask me we've gone backwards lately... losing features not gaining... grumble mumble....

in Poll: Do Advertisers Add to the Reputation of Your Blog? on Left the Box
Well, I had to go with neutral.... while ads won't cheapen a great blog, I certainly respect those that don't have CRAP on their blog. I'd rather see AdSense than some real crap.

Hiya Barry.... nice stuff and tnx for the luv - nothing I like more than a link text with 'rant' in it...lol... gotta love it!

I certainly am never afraid to nuke a comment that smells of a dive by link drop that's for sure - BUT I also won't nofollow them... to be honest I only use them when linking out to a potential 'bad nieghbourhood'.

I don't sell links, thus I feel that is the ONLY use I need it for. I thought that was what it is for? Not to 'play it safe'? If legitimate webmasters start to use it... then there will actually be more networked linkspam links out there in comparison to legitimate links since the good peeps are afraid to show ANY link love.... it could be troubling.

Google may have started it, but who perpetuates it? We do.... sigh....

oh well... back to work tnx for the post and mention - U forgot to mention that I didn't in ANY WAY pay you for it.... bwaa ha ha ha ha

Not a problem, get in touch should you feel like chatting about the topic as I know few that have broached it in my cirlces.

I started the journey last year with a book I read on the basics of qual research - I do advise it as it is about the larger sociological approach which I find qual marketing researchers tend to miss the subtle areas..

Once again, great topic (care to do some guest posting? he he)

Great post and an interesting dicussion. I was musing awhile back about qualitative research and social media/networking... there are a whack of links at the end of the post if it helps your journey....

Thanks for that one Andy - I saw a post on Mashable earlier but hand't really checked it out. It certainly sounded like a good idea; seems there are a few liscencing and delivery issues. Too Bad - tnx for digging in.

in Site Structure – SEOs Going Fishing Without Any Bait on Andy Beard - Internet Business Systems Discussion
Hey Andy, I do agree and we’ve been careful with PR Sculpting/Sioling (whatever) for years. It is interesting how the nofollow have started this as a hot topic again lately. For me it is merely one more tool for attempting to show Google which pages we consider to be more important than others. It has always been on a site by site basis and nothing has changed that much IMO – this is merely another tool to be used when appropriate….

in 2008 will be the year of the personalized social business network on Duct Tape Marketing
To be honest, there is every reason to believe small business (SMBs really) to now be looking at it. It is still an unknown entity. Actually, recent reports show that only 26% of B2B respondents expect to raise SMM budgets next year (compared to Search at 62%).

As with many branding exercises, there is no readily available measurements that show it as a viable short term marketing investment. That is the crux of the issue, ROI. Larger companies have such branding activity budgets, SMBs do not.

SMM marketers still need to establish value. This was (and is to a certain extent) the problems faced by SEO people... so I have to say adoption of SMM will still be slow in 2008....

Yuppers.... I was thinking out of court settlement when I first read it yesterday. Man, I simply GOTTA find a way to sue Google... anyone... hmmmmmmm.... How about the 'little green bar' demotions as defamation of character? I guess that takes us back to KinderStart again huh? I will have to try harder... :0)
