Twitter is easier to use for a beginner if you use a free download called Twirl or Tweetdeck. Although I prefer Twirl, Tweetdeck allow you to do a global search for any keyword, finding the followers that you have the most in common with!

Yes, keeping your goals visible and tracking them at all times helps. You can't hit a target that you can't see. That is why it's so important to see it everywhere. I have been known to not only put it by my desk, but on the refrigerator, in the bathroom, and on my car visor! Visualize your goal as already a done deal!
