in Dear Twitter, I’m the Type of User You Can Make Money From on Marketing Pilgrim
I actually believe that the monetization of Twitter will come less through ads and tiered-pay models, then from partnerships (which is one of the positions they've been recruiting for is about). Although, like Andy, I'd pay for an extended plan for over the 100API call limit.

I also think that there's something already in the works if there's this kind of valuation - we'll just have to wait and see. I believe the kind of positions and recruiting they're doing right now speaks to a business model that hasn't seen the light of day yet.

in Twitter User? Use Tweetdeck or Else on Chris Brogan
Tweetdeck is my Twitter tool of choice. The "groups" function is the one that makes this my must-use. It flows into my day - allowing me to work without distraction and then catch up on what conversations I want to and people I check in with daily.
What a great Holiday gift to get this upgraded version - the new features are great. but I'm already seeing a reduction in CPU usage, which was my one issue before.
Happy Holidays!

in What's In a Name? on Chris Brogan
Let other people spend time figuring out labels, job titles, etc. - that's a kind of validation, I guess. I'm just working, making and doing stuff. So are you (you just talk about it more ;) - Merlin Mann had one of the best posts of the year laying this out in Better.
We're so much more than boxes or titles.

in The best of 2008 as told by me on Colin Devroe
I love and agree with all of your picks (and actually feel the same way about Brightkite - why do I not count that as my Twitter app?), and many of my favorite posts of 2008 came from the blogs mentioned on this list. And while I also try all of the new iPhone Twitter apps (lately it's Tweetsville), I always come back to Hahlo. It just can't be matched.
One caveat - I'd pick Adium over iChat. That duck is my one-stop multi-chat client.

in To Tag or Not to Tag? on Setting Contexts
I have used the "Label" feature for tagging...especially if you have the GTD Devonthink script (http://www.devon-technologies.com/support/acade...).
Thanks for the kind words!

I like the same thing - and I'm using it more and more to grab the stuff I always have top look up. The Clippings feature is my new bff!
BTW - your GTD service looks very cool!

Thanks for sharing these Chris - I also love 37signals Backpack (I use Basecamp for project management) for throwing ideas, to dos, pictures, videos etc. to share or come back to later.

in Bloggers Need Errors and Omissions Insurance on Chris Brogan
I think that having disclaimers on your site as well as your emails might show the insurance people that you've protected yourself in the past. Also maybe sending some writing examples with citations, etc to show how well subjects are researched and accredited.
I agree that professional blog writers should have a clean presence (among any others). Even though it's a blog, there are different levels of expectation and a corporate presence must adhere to best practices, clear and concise grammar, spelling and language.

I think that probably happens more than you know...and it sucks each time. Karma will get things right in the end - maybe they'll acknowledge the debt to you in other ways.

in Growing Up with Social Networks on Social Days
@Steve Garfield - Thanks for stopping by. I love mimbots. AT SXSW I bought the 2nd series Star Wars and the 1st series R2D2. They made great gifts. Hope you're well!
@Jeff - Looking forward to seeing you at Podcamp NYC. I always talk to our clients about how the employees who have used social media are the ones that have just been promoted - they are the ones who will lead their companies in the next 3 to 5 years!
@Linda - Thanks for sharing the post and connecting on our various channels. It's great to meet you!

in Ads or No on Chris Brogan
I have no problem with ads - you and your content (2 separate things) add to much value to what I do that I'd like you to benefit in some way. Especially with the large amount of quality content across mediums you generate.

in Utterz- Board of Advisors on Chris Brogan
Chris - what a smart move on Utterz part. You bring so much to the table and can anticipate the space. I'm excited because you'll help bring me a better product (although I like what I have - and that sounds waaayyyy selfish!).

in Tend The Farm on Chris Brogan
I love the analogy - and my farm. And it needs tending in a big way. I think the challenges of different, diverse and expanding networks/services is that you start to lose sight of the people and the conversations that you want to keep track.

in Writing More Effective Email on Chris Brogan
This is great, Chris - I needed a boost to do exactly this. With my boss I've started to put the major point in the subject line when it's important - this system looks so much more professional and as Geoff commented, places value on peoples time.

in Participatory Culture and Human Search on Chris Brogan
I'm a huge Mahalo supporter (as you know) and what i like about people-powered search is how relevant the search results are. For many people Google and Yahoo results are overwhelming - social search feels like you get what you need - it's immediate - and that the results have been cherry-picked for you.

in Scaling Yourself on Chris Brogan
This is a great article - at the perfect time for me. Since my company was acquired, things have shifted into high-gear and a lot of things that mean so much to me (blogging, my social relationships online and off) have suffered. But I finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. It is about prioritizing, and knowing when and how to say no and how to balance your day.
One of my (Mac) applications that I love is Yojimbo - I put articles, documents, all the stuff I can revisit "someday" in a searchable database. I also love my OmniFocus and TextExpander.
I find that when I get frustrated and maybe overwhelmed during the day, I find an empty office and look at my "must-reads" in the gReader. It relaxes me.
Thanks for this - nice to know I'm not alone!

I've just started seriously Stumble'g - especially after Mahalo added SU support to their toolbar. Makes it easy to post with a shortcut!

in Yahoo Should Buy Twitter- Yes or No on Chris Brogan
I have to say - even with the current and ongoing infrastructure issues - I trust the Twitter team and it's VC's Union Square Ventures. I think that they are figuring it out and while it's extremely frustrating (and maybe naive), I'm keeping the faith.

in Twitter Packs Goes off the Rails Quick on Chris Brogan
I think this was a lovely idea. It was fun to look at while people collaborated and was looking forward to grabbing a few minutes to update a few things myself (it was great to see the Mac developers community included as they were they people I first followed over a year ago). And it was thoughtful of you to take time out of your day to set this up.
Sorry it went wrong and I think that people must have a ton of time on their hands.
Also - I love the wiki format. It allows people to share and interact. We have something similar for work (we have over 300 people around the globe) and it's really made us interact more - with smiles! I've started adding video to it with great results!

in Goodbye Marc Orchant on Chris Brogan
This is so incredibly sad - I didn't know Marc at all, but had read his blog. There's nothing to say at a time like this, but it sounded like he was surrounded by family and love when he left.
I'll light a candle tomorrow and think of Marc and his family.

in Dear Jeff Bezos (one-week Kindle review) on Scobleizer
Thanks for the informative review - when I held one, it seemed really big. I don't need something else to cram in my tote (girl problem). The (non) social aspects surprise me, it just seems that that and the eCommerce part would be a given.
