Just listened in to the podcast, so heard about Gabriella ditching the teaching. I hope all went well, I know you had issues with the nasty old witch in charge, so I'm intrigued to know if you're leaving in a blaze of glory, or quietly slipping out the back door :-)

Hi Gabriella,
Nice write-up! I'm going to have to do a spot of background wine-beginners research in order to keep up though I think. I don't even know fully what a DO is, although it's fast becoming apparent through context alone that it's some kind of legal quality mark based on the producing region.
Leave that one to me to read about, but one thing that you can help me on, is this business of "double vintage". If the grapes are picked and used in a joven wine, how do they get re-used in a later wine? Maybe the answer is so obvious I can't see it, but it just confused me a smidge.
Also, can I slip in a possible mistake..? The Torres brothers were Jaime and Miguel, yes? But you say that "Julian" commisioned the big wine vat. Did you mean Jaime, or is there a third Torres brother with the same name as the author of the book? Not a big deal, as it's the wine we're interested in, not the brother's names, but figured I'd ask. :-)
Great to see you cracking on with the book, by the way! And I love your pic staring over the pile of books! Very "school ma'am"!! jejejeje

Hi Gabriella, Hope you're well!
I know nothing about wines except for the fact that I like the taste ;-) but I'm already enjoying reading the first steps of your journey through the 4 books you've chosen. I'll definitely stick around for the ride and hopefully learn a thing or two with you.
By the way, I'm sat in the office in work at the moment, and just noticed that your comment about Portugal not appearing on Spanish maps certainly rings true here. I've got a map on the wall directly in front of me, and I'm afraid to say that while every region of Spain is fully represented in glorious technicolour, poor old Portugal has been relegated to exactly the same colour as the Altantic ocean, rendering it completely invisible with nothing more than a mere shadowy outline to show that there "might" actually be a bit of land clinging onto the arse-end of Galicia with it's the last of it's fingernails! I can see this is going to be something I won't be able to avoid looking out for in future as I'm a bit obsessive about maps (Give me an Atlas of the world and you'll not hear a peep out of me for hours!) jeje.
