I can't lie. That picture always bothered me, because it looked like he was trying to make her submit, trying to control her. And then come to find out they started 'dating' when she was 11 and he was 19. Those were the times but jesus. What was up?


HOWEVER, they stayed together, and he must have had something to him to stick in a marriage where he would be destroyed, too, in the eyes of his fellow whites, for choosing not to keep her as his 'second family' and instead choosing to make him and her legal and official and public. As for the black woman who notices black people staring, the thing about that is that sometimes people bring it on themselves. They expect to be stared at, so they subconsciously do things to be stared at.

PTcruiser, to me doesn't matter if it was expected or not. It matters whether it was done or not. If the NAACP would have intervened but chose not to in order to punish him for switching political parties that's wrong. Justice is justice, and should be decried when it's denied to one's friends or one's enemies.


What did DuBois do, though? I haven't heard this, but I'm not up on my NAACP history. The only thing I know about is the struggle between blacks and Jews for leadership, and I only know that faintly.
