in You’ve got to fight, for your right to die in the woods on The Colorado Independent
I climbed Quandary Peak this weekend. I can't count how may people I saw wearing shorts, trail runners, and carrying only a water bottle.
Oddly, at the summit, I met a gentleman who is a Sherpa on Mt. Everest, here in CO for a visit. He and I were dressed similarly (long pants, long sleeves, hat, proper hiking boots, pack with basic essentials, etc.). Granted, Quandary is not an exceptionally difficult fourteener and the route is fairly well marked, but the laws of nature still apply.
I absolutely encourage people to get out and enjoy the wilderness and back country. But they should also do it sensibly and responsibly.

in Denver Post OP-ED: Transgender Case on The Colorado Independent
Extra-constitutional protection?? The constitution provides equal protection based on "sex," as does federal employment discrimination law. To say that discrimination because one is transgendered is not "because of sex," is akin to stating that discrimination against a Christian convert is not "because of religion."
Both are absurd conslusions to draw in regard to how to apply the law. If we want to add "height" as a protected class, then so be it--let the legislature act. But don't conclude that transgendered people aren't discriminated because of sex (or because of their lack of conformity to sexual stereotypes) is an unconstitutional interpretation of the law.

Wait a sec Isn't Beauprez the one who showed up at a campaign event in a flight suit -- the same guy who never served in the military?

Coulter? As long as Beauprez keeps schlepping Ann Coulter up here for fundraisers, he's guaranteed to lose.
But seriously, I'm just an independent who is tired of GOP chickenhawks and bigots ruining everything possible. I'm ignorant of Beauprez and the state of the GOP/Dem conflict in this state (at least for now).
