in Home Made Air Conditioning on BoxedTofu Comments
I live on the 9th floor in a building so I often put towels or old clothes in cold water and hang them around the house, especially by the open windows (It's easy to create a draught at this hight).
I also drink a lot.

in Takeru Kobayashi Loses Hot Dog Eating Contest again. Shouldn’t go swimming for at least 30 minutes on Tofugu Comments
I alwayd liked Tsunami, because in each and every show I watch starring him, he seems so... kind :). My fav so far was an MTV produced 2-hour show which was something like a video diary before one of the contests. It included what physical exercises he does, how he doesn't eat before the contest or how he eat increasingly more before his "diet".
With a giggle I'm recalling the part where he went into a restaurant (small, yes), and ate EVERYTHING that poor guy had in storage. XD

in What’s the difference between San, Sama, Kun, & Chan? on Tofugu Comments
Every time I write emails I use -san as a honorific.
Chama comes from "chan" and "sama" and it is used mostly around family members (when the younger one is referring to the older one: sis, bro, mum, dad, aunts, uncles, grandparents) not to sound they have NO repect, but also that they are not turning cold shoulders to each other. Pretty nifty.
Another trivia about sama is the fact, than when person working i the same place writes mail to each other they are in the same "uchi" but not too close - they write the honoryfics in katakana instead of kanji. As one of my Japanese teachers writing to some othe teacher stated "To show her that I respect her.... but not too much" (I find this adorable, and often noticed it in mails shown to me by various people).
And came across Santa-san and Santa-ojii-sama/=san , so that is probably it. ;)
Oh, and BTW, I think ou might hae added "sensei" to the overview (doctor, teachers, politians...) and senpai/kohai might also be useful.

in YouTube Always Featuring my Worst Vids on BoxedTofu Comments
Aw, c'mon, that video wasn't THAT BAD. It wasn't the perfect one from the technical point of view but it had a great idea!!
Either way, I was offered a work at the Uni and I'm starting in two weeks time. Gosh, shame I don't have all the papers neccessary to work as a teacher just yet and will work as an assistance, mainly helping in some scientific research of speech analysis. Keep your fingers crossed!

in Would You rather Eat a Cat, or a Dog? on BoxedTofu Comments
A cat. Because if a mother wants to gross a child here in Poland sometimes when it doesn't eat its veggies or something, then she comes up with "Chinese kids eat cats" line. In many articles when they mention weird stuff people eat outside the Europe they always mention cats for Chinese people. Just out of the sheer curiosity why do people here are so obsessed with Chinese eating cats (and rats, btw) I would like to go there and try that. You think that the guy with gun would sponsor a little trip to China?

in Japanese people aren’t actually impressed with your Japanese on Tofugu Comments
Well, I've read some books on Nihonjinron - with "The Japanese Brain" being the funniest so far. The fact is, those book prove by very scientific methods something completely ... wacky. I mean, the same experiments yield diffrent results in Japan and in the rest of the world. Yet sometimes I find myself thinking it's the Japanese who's right. And blame Buddha and Law of Karma I wasn't born Japanese again...

in Tofugu Poll: What do YOU want to see more of? on Tofugu Comments
Hi Koichi ^^
I really <3 your projects, especially those in which you attempt to teach us guys something - you have talent for creating teaching materials, and I would like to see more of that, maybe less of news (to be honest, I am so inspired by tofugu and koichiben, that I finally set up my own blog on Japanese).
Good idea would be to create some podcast / mp3 beside the videos, don't you think?
That's my ideas for now. because I don't see anything lacking really.
I'm looking forward to your thesis results ^3^!!

in Help Me Help You (plus extended nara mascot contest deadline) on Tofugu Comments
I filled mine in the morning, so I didn't have any time left for a comment. But here I am again:
I'd love to hear the results of your thesis because I'll be doing mine on Japanese glottodidactics (it's a hard word derived from Latin meaning teaching languages to non-native users) - my teachers of Japanese want me to write a draft of textbook of Japanese in my native language, but it takes YEARS.
I'm really willing to this but it'll be a hard project lasting for several years. But then, hey, I can teach Japanese as the best teacher around, mwahahahaha. ;)
Ganbatte ne ;)
PS. I took time to get use to your short hair. But you're not a mythical hero (just a person I look up to!), you don't lose your 3v1l-languages-speaking-powers just because you lost your hair... YOU STILL HAVE THE MAGICAL PANDA HAT, DO YOU?! :DDDD

in Japanese Textbook Review: Genki I on Tofugu Comments
I disagree! Not all of the books are boring in content!
In my opinion Genki is rather... childish, although I reuse some of the recordings on my lessons (but would never recommend the book itself).
Shokyuu Nihongo (The blue one) is waaay better and more interesting but, alas, that's no self-study book, can only be used with a teacher to get it right. Therefore I would give 10/10 for Shokyuu if used with sensei, but only 6/10 for self-study if it's preceded by some other book.
