30- there was contact, not much, but at ronaldo's speed, i would go down.

28- he tripped himself because he was off balance because of the first hit, he wasnt diving. there is a difference.
27-caught his foot fom behind, exaggerated, but still a foul
26- a dive, no excuse
25- too far to see, could have been a dive, maybe not.
24- hip check, couldve knocked him offa little bit, so a little exaggerated

22- looked like he got hit iin the face by an elbow, but that could be a dive
21- looked like a dive, but there was no close up to be decisive
20- hit from behind in midstep, that can easily knock someone over. looked like he got hit in the back of the knee or foot maybe.
19- he was right to get out of the way, cause it was a cheap shot, but the falling over was a dive.
18- i dont think thats a dive, late tackle.
17- he didnt go down, he was getting out of the way of the challenge, if he went down it would be a dive, he tripped.
16- too far to see clearly, but looked like he got tripped. thats an opinion one
15- are you kidding? the picture was so bad ronaldo is a blur, how can you definitively say he dived?

13- its a dive, but if he hadnt dived it would have been a foul for a late tackle. maybe if people could actually get near the ball when they tackle he wouldnt dive. most of his dives are exaggerated falls from real fouls

this is pointless

i just scrolled down this whole board, and not a single poster made sense. everyone shouted out a scoreline and a string of curses. this goes both ways. please, whoever comes next, whether a united or arsenal fan, please put some GOOD reasons, not just ____ are terrible, etc.

I'm going to say united 3-2, and whoever comes next, disagree, but please dont just say im wrong and *&^% me, etc... make a point.

Why 3-2 united?

REASONS:
1. Rooney and Tevez are on form, with 9 goals in the last 5 games, they are deadly and effective.

2. Ronaldo has hit a good scoring run, correct me if im wrong but 6 in the last 6.

3. Rio, Vidic centerbacks, with Evra and Brown on the sides, and Van Der Sar in goal kept a huge # of clean sheats in early season. Now that all are back from injury, and Vidic and Van Der Sar have 2 decent games under their belts again, they will probably continue their form. United have conceded 4 goals in the EPL so far, so to say that they will concede 2 more to Arsenal's awe-inspiring offense is generous in Arsenal's favor.

4. Hargreaves is back from injury. This guy hasn't played many games in a row, but the few games he has have been consistently high quality. He has already had 4 or so Man of the Match performances, out of maybe 6-7 appearances. Many said that until Liverpool's defensive midfielder got injured, Fabregas, the engine behind Arsenal, was contained very well. Hargreaves should be able to match this remarkable feat.

5. Anderson is playing spectacular. This wonderkid has stepped it up, and maybe United's long term answer to Fabregas. While the latter has more EPL experience, Anderson has adapted astoundingly fast. He has shown the potential to match the Spanish wizard's achievements, except for goalscoring. However, this trait was not associated with with Fabregas till this season, and Anderson has a year to magically improve in similar fashion to the young Gunner. Since Anderson has been starting, United have scored 4 goals in 4 consecutive games... which might not be coincidence.

However, Fabregas has been spectacular. Both in playmaking and in scoring. I believe Hargreaves can shut down most of his game. This doesn't take him out of the picture, and I think he will pitch in a goal.

So, I believe that United will win 3-2.

I think Rooney will put in a goal around 25 minutes, after an intense first bit with chances at both ends.

At around 40 minutes, Arsenal will push to equalize before the break, but they will overcommit and conced again on a break with rooney ronaldo and tevez sprinting upfield 3 v 2.

half time

Arsenal will make another push to get even, and this wil be dangerous and they risk conceding another, but alumnia or whatever will come up with a big save.

Around 55 min, fabregas will score a brilliant goal, beating hargreaves who lacks complete match fitness. Probably coming from about 25 yards out.

This gives Arsenal confidence, who pick up the passing and dominate for 10 minutes, till a quick breakaway gives Rooney his second goal against the tide of play.

From the 65th minute onward, United hold the upper hand, playing a little bit defensive, they try to hold on for a win.

At around around 85 minutes, a defensive lapse (probably ferdinand, lol) gifts a goal to abedayor.

An intense five minutes follows, where Arsenal pester Van Der Sar with a lot of shots. He comes up with two big saves to deny a late equalizer.

In injury time, Rooney makes a last attempt for a hat trick, narrowly firing over the bar from 18 yards.

its weird, there are a proportionally huge number of arsenal videos compared to other teams. i think that you guys are rallying because you are up in the league. well, congrats for now, but its too close to think youve won it yet.

and it ticks me off how injuries have fallen this year. youve only had van persie. United's had rooney, saha, scholes, van der sar, neville, vidic, evra, and more. its stupid.

it is a fact, now that you guys are up, the # of vids has increased tremendously. its not an insult, but a fact

and it is too early to say youve won it, which is another neutral fact.

im not blaming injuries for anything. we are actually doing very well. with the exception of bolton, which we were trash, and we know it.

please read next time: "for now, youve earned it."

did i say anything about prices? no. dont be a hater. and dont say im being a hater. there isnt a single anti-arsenal comment in here.

fyi: most of the money spent is on english talent. not all, there are some expensive foreigners. but most. we overpay, yes, but does that matter? no.

we will know who is better at the end of the season.

wenger and fergie are about as good, i wouldnt say one is much better. fergie has had a bit more success though, but hes been around a bit longer i think.

but i do agree that some fans are obnoxious, however that goes for all teams. you have obnoxious fans, so do we. and dont think that the rude guys are a majority. its way different on talking reds, the united forum.

and about obnoxious fans, you are the one who started making insults, not the other way around.

no excuses. that was a terrible performance. we have legitimate excuses in the ref, injuries, etc. but regardless, im not making excuses, that was terrible. especially the first half. 2nd was better, but 1 was bad.

i love how all the hater just have to come on and have their say. really, grow up. everyone has a bad day.

not a bad compilation. very good actually, but it only proves my opint that as soon as the gunners went top of the league the proportionally huge number of videos about them come out.

rejoice in your position, because it is highly contested. after newcastle, you no longer have an extra game, and you are only up by 4 points. we have more than half a season left. but congrats anyway.

peace- gotta disagree. he has been great already. there really was nothing between kaka and ronaldo. kaka was better in CL, but no one came close to Ronaldo in domestic leagues. and ronaldo has been fantastic internationally too. kaka really never did much to prove he was better than ronaldo. there was the United v AC milan game. but thats one game. doesnt prove anything. ronaldo and kaka were both fantastic, id give FIFAPotY to ronaldo, cause he was almost as good in CL, but way better in domestic league, and easily as good internationally.

ronaldo has dived 1 time this entire season, hes cut a lot of it out of his game. instead of giving him @#$% about what he used to do, how about congratulating him for getting rid of a lot of it, which is hard to do, esp if youre born in a system where diving is encouraged and youve played that way all your life. portugese are terrible about diving, so the fact that hes gotten over it almost completely should be something hes commended for, not criticized about.

gerrard-liverpool didnt really 'dominate'

united played defense, didnt let them through. you may have been attacking more, but you wrent really getting anywhere. i dont consider that dominating.

El Nino- United played great defense. the only mistakes were VDS, other than that, we were fantastic defensively.

as for leaving the left side unmarked... they left the entire area outside the box unmarked. its just no one picked up rooney when he ran in.

i love how ferdinand made torres look like a baby. just knocked him over, told the fans to shut the ^%$# up and adn when torres tried to be cool and stand up, ferdinand just pushed him away like 'your not worth the effort'

.look at the differences in these 2 teams rosters….arsenal: young, evenly paid, unselfish, no superstars needed- fabregas. van persie. sounds like few stars. adebayor, hleb... and lehmann is sooo unselfish it hurts. as for young: heres a stat. excluding keepers, who were late 30's for both, the average ages for players on each team during United vs arsenal was approx 24:23. The average was about a year apart. United are just as young as arsenal.

and im not blaming wenger for englands failures. im saying hes not making any english players. arent there only like 2 on arsenal. walcott and someone else? and neither are starters.

as for arsenal being the best: thats an opinion.

its a different strategy for youth: arsenal gets them cheaper and earlier, but in bulk. United waits, picks a select few that appear best at a later age, and pays more. arsenal get many good players and a few great ones. United get as many great players, with a higher buy:star ratio. its 2 different systems that are EQUALLY effective at producing young talent for United.

You talk about your amazing youngsters, but you dont give credit to United's youth. Why? cause they are on the first team, and they are so well known they arent necessarily thought of as youth. Ex: ronaldo, rooney, tevez, anderson, nani... these are all young players. 23 and under. these players are the same age and just as good as arsenal's. they are so good, that you forget that nromal playes of their age are just breaking into the 1st team. united's youth have played 1st team ball for years.

the reason arsenal's reserves are good is because they buy bulk. United mostly make due with local players. they have a few youngsters from other places, but 75% are british. its evidence of the different strategies.

--and to your first post: united arent a 2 man team many players on united are matchwinners. they are just overshadowed because rooney and ronaldo are SO good. even without them, United are still deadly and filled with many matchwinning players. Giggs, Nani, tevez, Scholes, Saha...

You could say arsenal are essentially a 2-3 man team too.

fabregas, hleb, and van persie were gone and they dropped 5 points in a hurry.

Fact: Arsenal are winning, by 1 point, halfway into the season.
Arsenal Fan Interpretation-Arsenal have won the league by miles.

Fact: Arsenal have adopted a policy of buying young foreign talents in bulk and gambling to get a few stars. United wait a little longer and buy with hgher success rate for higher prices.
AFI: Arsene Wenger is God, he can find every great young player in the world and buy them cheap. Also, Arsenal have th best academy in the world.

Fact: Arsenal have a good defense, 15 goals conceded (ESPN). United have the best defense, 9 goals conceded (ESPN)
AFI: Arsenal have the greatest defense in the world.

I don't see how you can rate Eduardo and Sagna above Hargo, Tevez, Anderson, and Nani.

Hargreaves has been fantastic defensively, contributing enormously to shutting down crucika players like cesc and gerrard.

Tevez is a good goalscoring threat, 7 goals so far, and has been influential in creating many goals. He has been half of one of the best and most exciting strike partnerships in the modern game. All this despite being tagged as 'too similar' to play with Rooney.

Anderson has been a great playmaking force. Comparable in potential to Arsenal's Fabregas. A year younger, one of few traits that the spaniard has that Anderson doesnt is goalscoring prowess, which Fabregas didn't have till this year. Anderson has deputized surprisingly successfully for talisman Paul Scholes, especially considering he just moved into a new country and started learning the language less than 6 months ago. At 19, hes already a leader on the pitch, vocally giving orders and dictating play.

Nani, who in a recent poll was least favored of the new signings, has 2 competitve goals. Both were wonderstrikes from amazing distance. He also has 6 assists. Impressive stats for any 20 year old. But that a 20 year old with those stats is the least impressive signing is what really is impressive.

ussoccer- how are vidic, scholes, and giggs overrated. giggs and scholes are 2 of the most underrated players in the world, and have been for a long time. Vidic is top class, and you would be hard pressed to find 2 CB in the world better.

manutd since 1985- youre wrong about that one. arsenal have lost 2 this season. 1 in CL, 1 in EPL.

yeah, kaka was and is brilliant. my only thing is that he wasnt as good in the domestic league as ronaldo last year. this year, ronaldo has been the top player. Hes got like, uhh, 15-16 goals i think. im too lazy to check the stat sites.

good point about the stars thing. they never talk about how good cesc is, just how bad ronaldo is. they never say van persie is amazing, they say rooney is garbage.

Arsenal cant win now that they arent at full speed. United havent been winning even though they werent at full speed. We just put 4 past them w/o trying. United at ful strength can play possess and pass better than Arsenal, and prob better than any other team right now. United are on the rise and in the lead.

My Take:

Carrick and Fletcher play well together. Did a great job today and vs Roma.

Park was brilliant. Injected pace, skill, and energy into the game.

Rooney's finally getting into form. Thats a plus for the goal department.

Saha is finally in form, thats a plus for the goal department.

Ronaldo is staking his claim as the world's top player. I'm not sure, but im pretty sure hes the EPL's top scorer... as a WINGER!!!

Kuszie showed hes a class keeper, with 1 glaring weakness, which is clearing balls.

all in all, a very good day to be a united fan

we defnately have the strongest squad in the EPL, maybe in europe.

have you noticed not a single arsenal fan has showed up to complain about something: Nani dived maybe? Rooney offside? Saha's goal a handball? Ronaldo cheated on the free kick? Yeah, maybe a United scum pulled down on the wall so the players moved down a few inches so Ronaldos shot could get to the goal! Or maybe the foul was a dive. And of course Vidic played dirty so there shoulda been 5 sunderland PKs that wouldve made them win.

And Portsmouth cheated. They invoked ancient illegal voodoo causing Arsenal to miss every shot. Their keeper was using steriods, and they drugged the players' pre-game meals so everyone was drowsy and nauseous. That would explain why Arsenal were so bad in the 1st half.

Rooney has all the potential to be the next cantona or law.

dont know how much of it he will achieve, but hes top class. Hes very well rounded. I think he needs to be more consistent, like before his injury. If he can net regularly he'll be one of the best or the best striker in the world.

A ronaldo vid would be cool, but there are a lot of them.

rossonero- gotta disagree. Ronaldo is better now. this season hes been untouchable. Hes got 17 goals! Hes got 5 CL goals in the group stage, which i think is as many as kaka had all of the CL last season. hes leading goal scorer in the premiership by 2 goals as a WINGER. Hes scored 8 in euro qualifying.

Hes doing less useless moves, his freekick consistency is improving tremendously, he dives less than 95% of other players. Cesc, Drogba, Gerrard, most of the spain-italian players all dive EASILY as much as he does. probably more. Does anyone else in the world have that behind them?

And please dont refer to the milan vs united game. thats 1 game, and you cant compare based on that. Also, consider the circumstances. United didnt have a DM, so kaka could run free. Ronaldo was man marked by a world class DM who has a shout for best DM in world. Kaka was also going against an injury raveged defense. they had had 7 defensive injuries. Rio or vidic needed to play that day, and vidic, who was terrible that day, was chosen because in training HE COULD AT LEAST RUN. thats certainly a tough defense to beat. not to mention the fact that United had to push for the EPL title and needed to play a full side the previous weekend. Milan rested, what, 9 players?? something around that.

If kaka didnt dominate Ronaldo, it would be a pathetic showing from kaka.

but as to Rooney. hes great.

im not saying that United have won it, but it looks like we will. Consider:

1. Historically, the team on top over New Years is the team that wins.

2. Arsenal were in tip top form at the start of the season. But that has begun to falter. After losing a few key players, and fabregas starting to fall out of amazing form, your momentum is dropping. You have a series of tough games including Everton ahead. You may not lose much, but your getting a lot of draws.

3. United is gaining steam. I'll admit we haven't played well this 1st half of the season. Our play has been primarily scrappy. Here was a little streak of gold in there, the 16 in 4 run, but our best still hasnt come. Sunderland is the next step forward for us. Even play half our second string we put 4 past them in 1st maybe second gear. When United are on, we are top in the world.

4. Defense wins chamionships. Arsenal has conceded WAY more than United this year. Even if our offense starts to falter like Arsenal late in the year we still have the D for a clean sheet. That means we just have to nag a lucky goal, which United can always do because of our counterattacking prowess.

5. Depth. United's 2nd team can drop into the 1st without making a ripple. Arsenal's reserve team or whatever that beat Blackburn may be good, but if they had to replace fabregas with a youth team player the whole thing falls apart. They could switch out teams maybe, but if you remove certain arsenal players the system fails. So sure, they have depth, but if using it results in a system failure then whats the use of that?

the first arsenal goal was the defenders being stupid. they left eduardo wide open, but a great finish nevertheless.

the second was a little better. great turn again, gotta appluad eduardo this game.

3rd was stupid. im not sure if i blame the defender or the keeper. that shouldnt have happened. that was luck.

4th was a good shot.

2 of your goals were pure luck. presonally, i felt everton were playing the better game in the 1st half. second half was about equal, but arsenal got some lucky breaks and everton werent clinical. 2 goals the 2nd and 4th... they were good.

as for united... wow. im was shocked at how bad we were. i think they are like an achillies heel or something for us.

there were a couple moments that were united quality, but i was shaking my head most of the game. we played like chelsea... UHG!!! Ronaldo's goal was BEAUTIFUL!!! whoever says giggs doesnt have it needs to die.

hes not overrated. my only complaint about rooney is that hes been out of form since his second injury this season. thats natural if you think about it.

but Rooney isn't a flashy player. hes very basic, passing, moving, crossing, shooting. hes the inverse of ronaldo who is a flash player. both are good, 2 different styles.

id say rooney is even underrated. how many 22 year olds have been scoring about an average of 15 goals a year for 4 or 5 years in a row? and doing it in the premiership, which is a top league.

(not getting into the old 'which league is best' arguement, but EPL is one of the top ones.)

a lot of people don't appreciate that he can score and create. hes a solid, well-rounded player. the only missing part is heading, which is coming along.

Saha- supposedly the target man, but ive watched him play, and he never gets any long balls. We can't cross because hes never in the right position and he never outjumps the opponents. He IS something different, but right now, hes only showing what he can't do, which is just about everything. As much as i appreciate him, he just isn't performing. Should we sell? Not if we dont buy. If it were possible, I would get Campbell back from loan, and loan Saha out till he can get his rythem back. Easier opposition and a few goals would work wonders imo.

-Carrick- where have you gone, and what did you do with our Carrick?! Your obviously not him, your not the well rounded mid that he was. You can't pass, you have no vision, you don't do anything productive! really, who are you? The only time carrick plays good anymore is with fletcher. The 2 work well together. the reason is it was an insult made by city and liverpool fans to tick us off after munich 50 years ago. on most historically knowledgeable boards, that term is taboo. some songs went something like Man United (without nited) Never Intended Coming Home. The words spell out Munich, and it is disrepectful to the players and families who died that tragic day.

personally, i think we are fine defensively:

LB: Evra, Oshea, Silvestre (ish)
CB: Ferdinand, Vidic, Brown, Pique, Evans
RB: Neville, Brown, Pique, Simpson, Evans

weve got plenty of back up. Our academy has many good defenders.

We also have 2 young (18) brazillian twins that are RB/LB respectively. they are supposed to be REALLY good. The left back was like captain of brazil u18, and as a LB was TOP SCORER in an international tournament!!!

Theyve been pre-signed. theyll be arriving soon now, or theyre here. I think they were supposed to have come over this winter, maybe in febuary.

something like that. but weve got defense cover.

i might say a striker, but thats not really required.

Rooney, Tevez, Saha, Manucho (soon)

Giggs, Ronaldo, and young brandy, welbeck, and Dong are also available. brandy and welbeck are especially exciting. we have a young signing, (16-ish) macheda from lazio. hes promising.

On paper, it seems okay... but saha is struggling. id rather not take giggs or ronaldo off the wings. manucho isnt here yet, hes an unknown. id like to see benzema, or huntelaar signed. not a requirement at all though.If we sell saha, which seems more and more like a possibility, the nit would be good to sign someone.

-Ronaldo got his hat trick. Freaking finally!!! about took him long enough. top scorer with... 16 prem goals i believe. hes got 20 goals this season now i believe. its only january!!!! WOW!! anyone who says hes not top in world is fooling themself.
-Tevez brace.
-Rooney tried SOOOO hard. just didnt work out. Got an assist, though. also helped in ronaldo's second. Almost got youngster simpson a goal.
-CARRICK!!!!!! hes back!! gone is that imposter who couldnt pass for his life. great job!!
-Simpson impresses. Many are worried that if brown leaves than we are left without another RB. Nev is injured a lot. WE DONT NEED TO HIT THE MARKET FOR ANOTHER RB!!! not with simpson and pique around. Simpson almost got 2 goals!! great job.
-Anderson had a strong showing as well.
-Ferdinand had a SPECTACULAR goal!! wow, what a strike!
- Solid defensive display from the whole back line. VDS incuded. The attacking display was so great that we forget our defense did grea to get ANOTHER clean sheat.

WE ARE TOP OF THE TABLE!!! and deservedly so. We've battled out results when we've been playing bad. Now, we are here. Lets keep it this time. All the way in! What a way to take it too.

we really are the kings of pretty footy. arsenal are the pretenders. before wenger, they were a 1-0 team.

United have a history of beautiful football.

Great goals, all of them.

1. Ronaldo's learned how to mix up the FKs. Clever goal.
2. Great composure for the cross from giggs. calm finish from tevez.
3. Great job. This was my favorite goal. Carrick to rooney to tevez to ronaldo then pure net.
4. Beautiful ball from Rooney, amazing volley from ferdinand.
5. Smart from Tevez to leave, Ronaldo makes a great move, deflected in. It mightve gone in anyway.
6. Great volley by Tevez. The camera was indecisive in my opinion. The side camera is iffy. The back camera made it look like a clear goal.

We couldve had many more. 3 PKs not given. We were Robbed by Styles.

Owen could had a goal though, maybe 2. But in the hypothetical world, United woudve had 10+ goals.

Ronaldo wouldve had at least 1 more. plus 3 pks.
rooney wouldve had a brace at least, maybe a hat.

but thats a hypothetical thing. just saying to any fans who wanna spoil the fun, if we give the ones to newcastle, united would have like 10 goals.

as to a new trinity, this topic has been discussed a bunch on a forum im on, its an offshoot of the old official board, which got wrecked when the club switched host companies.

The thing about the old trinity is that all 3 were euro player of the year. these days, there is a lot more competition for that prize (players like messi, krkic, ribery, benzema, iniesta, fabregas, drogba, torres, etc). Plus they have to overcome the whole anti-epl bias that is present in those awards.

I can see Ronaldo winning it this year, and maybe Tevez getting it. Rooney will deserve one, but he is too underrated by many. No one appreaciates the team play that he has. They are more likely to give to to Messi who can score 'wondergoals' than Rooney, who can only take the ball out of the air going across his body from 35 yards out and put it in the top corner. Thats not good enough for them.

In terms of goals, the trinity scored liike 650 as i recall. I did a mathematical calculation, and it is quite possible for this current trio to match, or even exceed that amount.

Nani wasnt spectacular though.

About Rooney, hes got 10 goals in half a season, and half or more of that half a season has been injury plagued. Not a doubt if he goes w/o injuries next season he can hit the 30, maybe even 35-40 goal mark. He also averages 17 ish assists a season, and im not sure how he is on that this season. Hes doing a great job.

even as a united fan, Torres is good. We wanted him a while back, but at the time althletico werent selling, so SAF lost interest after a couple tries.

The words of some expert, i think it was one of the guys on fox football fone-in, "liverpool-torres=mid table team."

Hes been their savior this year.

Torres is probably the prem's best out and out striker. Rooney and Tevez aren't true strikers, they are second strikers. Its a different style when you have 2 second strikers, on the ground and pass-focused. United always play terrible when we start to cross a lot.

Torres has a tendency to get marked out of games, like when Ferdinand and Vidic shut him down (that was a fun day). Similar to Ronaldo, i guess. (Ronaldo / Torres have a lot in common: fan favorites, pretty boys, goal scorers, disappear a lot in big games, absolutely vital to their teams.) Rooney and Tevez are harder to mark, cause their passing is like psychic, and their work rate is almost unmatched.

Torres is as good a finisher as those two are as well. On the ground, all 3 are about equal. Torres excels compared to them on the header.

However, Roovez are better buildup players, and are excellent at working in combinatin and bringing players into the attack. Better at this than Torres.

So, my conclusion is that all 3 are abou equal as players. Torres is the best classic striker, while Roovez excel in a different, and as the stats show, effective, style.

not trying to start a riot here, just giving an honest appraisel.

we've never needed to buy a replacement for RB. If brown goes, i would be overjoyed t osee pique, simpson, and evans to get to play in the squad. WHY ARE OUR HOMEGROWN TALENTS NEVER GOOD ENOUGH FOR MANY OF OUR FANS?????

Simpson and Pique have perfromed admirably, as good as any of the players people have suggested buying. Simmo played vs Newcastle, nearly scored twice. Also played vs Roma away i think. Pique played in a few other games, including Roma away. He scored our only goal of the match. AND, he was a centerpiece of the defense that held international stars like Totti to just 1 goal!! Both of them are young, academy products, and good enough to be on United's first team. Instead of pay 10-20 million on ANOTHER (we would have 7, Neville, Brown, Hargreaves, Oshea, Pique, Simpson, and Evans) right back, lets spend it on something BETTER!

With the money used to KILL the chances of 2-3 more exciting youth players with talent to make it here, we could actually help the team by:
1. paying off some of that debt.
2. buying another some more promising youngsters.
3. Buying another striker.
4. Saving money towards another stadium expansion. (rumored)
5. Improving our scouting.
6. Upgrading our academy system.

SEE!! Look at all the better things we could do instead of buying another defender to sit on the bench, or cause our great talents to sit on the bench.

-not directed at anyone in particular, its just everyone talks about getting a new RB, but we really dont need one.

newgunner- we have lost rooney x 3, scholes, Neville, VDS, and like 15 squad players and starters. Its not like youve had the worst injuries this year, not even close.

I have to say, after a brilliant start, Fabregas has died. Really, all his momentum is gone, and now Arsenal have been struggling. Now we are top of table. Arsenal have been unable to regain significant form during or after injuries. Arsenal have some depth, but not in a few key positions. fabregas, hleb, and adebayor. they have been the vital players for arsenal, and if they are gone the performance drops.

The team that has really battled through injuries is Chelsea. Theyve lost Lamps, Drogba, and Terry. All 3 talisman players, and more than enough squad members. Yet they are what, like 4 points back now? thats amazing, im impressed with what theyve done post-mourinho.

After the 5-1 killing this week vs tottenham, arsenal really cant say their youngsters are perfect. 5-1 is terrible. and i never thought arsenal had a great academy, great reserves maybe, but not really a great academy. i looked it up, no local lads on the starting XI, just as few in the squad. you never develop talent that you find, you just buy great talents for other countries. but whatever works i guess.

all wenger had to do was buy some good scouts. it isnt hard to tell which are great. to be honest, wenger is good manager. However, SAF has achieved more, and assembled better teams. Regardless of the way in which the teams were put together (arsenal buy mostly at age 18-20, united at 19-26) both have played exciting attacking football, but SAF has won more. Hes pulled some great players out of the air too: Ronaldo, Keane, Schmeichel, Scholes, Giggs, Neville, Becks, Evra, Vidic, Solskjaer... and some known players like Rooney, Van Der Sar, Ferdinand, Tevez...

SAF has done better with United than wenger has done with arsenal. sorry to break it to ya eduard(o) -9.

2. anderson is class, dont be stupid. that kid is 19, and hes joined new team and in a new country, and hes already adjusted and become one of the best mids in the league, outperforming players like fabregas and gerrard in head-to-head situations. Hes taken a spot equal or above established stars like carrick, too.
3. Torres isnt really better than Rooney. Hes WAY too easily marked out of a game, ex: vs manutd. People say ronaldo doesnt show against big teams? please! Torres is worse than that. And they are 2 different types of strikers. Torres is an out-and-out striker, Rooney is more of a second striker. When working with tevez, hes occupying a different role. Anyone can score, Rooney can score and create. thats more than you can really say about torres.

anyways- this was a great video, great job. Maybe you could focus on each league, go into a bit more depth. like do the EPL and get Rooney, Ronaldo, Cesc, Anderson, Richards, etc...

More in depth, or maybe get some smaller talents like Pique, Simpson, Welbeck, and others. Less known but just as promising.

Yes, there are a lot of players, and to say one is the best is quite a statement. But to be honest, hes got to be the one. His dribbling, scoring, passing, movement, heading, pace, and strength are magnificent. And hes been the best performer this year anywhere. Hes consistent. What else do you want? Magic? Should he literally fly inverted down the field while juggling the ball on the soles of his feet and then nutmeg the keeper to score with his head from 20 yards out? Would that be amazing enough for you? Sheesh.

FIFA has a world player of the year every year, so obviously it isnt impossible to pick 1 player out of all them. This year, right now, it has got to be Ronaldo.

No anderson??? really, now I disagree with that. Anderson has been brilliant, did a grea job today when he subbed on vs tottenham. He outplayed Gerrard and Fabregas when he played directly against them. He holds the ball well under pressure, makes good attacking runs, passes well, has good skill, and while not being a big goalscorer, he has scored with Porto, and hes still 19. Oh, wait, sorry, he plays for United. I guess that automatically makes him not good enough, ehh?

But you have Nani? Oh, thats interesting. everyone agrees who watches United that Anderson is more promising than Nani.

You have Rooney, Ronaldo, Nani, Tevez??? Okay, isnt that the same as what the video maker has? I just thought there might be a few more in existance. okay, we played a decent game, but we shouldve done better.

1. Hargo+Carrick=bad idea. they just dont combine well. one or the other
2. Anderson is a freakin beast- when he came in, did an excellent job. Hes really quick and he holds the ball relly well under pressure, better than anyone else I can think of.
3. Rooney had a bad day
4. Ronaldo can have a bad day and still score twice. Thtas ridiculous.
5. Scholes returns!! He came back and looked promising, with his first passes being a beautiful cross field pass to Ronaldo, and then a great through ball to Tevez, but then he gave the ball away a few times. His vision seemed to exceed his teammates, so they failed to catch onto the end of a few passes. This could be good, I noticed that we've been reacting to situations, instead of creating them. Scholes should fix that up.

about nani- hes good, but giggs is still better and more consistent. Nani will get games, he just needs to be patient. he wasnt supposed to get so many games early in the season, he just did cause of injuries.

Rooney got 23 goals last season. And he got I believe more than 20 the season before that. Just thought you might want to know that. Despite being a smaller second striker, he still hits the 20 goal mark. However, Im concerned he may not get there this season. Hes got 10, which is amazing considering hes had 2 major injuries and a 'virus' that held him out for a decent spell. It is hard to get the form that Ronaldo, Torres, Tevez, and Adebayor have achieved this season when you are getting hit by injuries. But I think hes going to get a late season burst, we still have half way to go, and Rooney typically scores more in the 2nd half of the season, against the big teams. So, I guess, he'll get there. I'm thinking 25 for Rooney/Tevez each. Ronaldo for 35+.

Rooney is a team player, and isnt the typical flashy striker. Torres is the king of flashy strikers right now. But he doesnt get close to Roovez in buildup ability. It is the difference between Ruud and umm, say Ronaldinho. (In terms of goal poaching vs dropping back to build up.) As a result, Torres gets marked out of games, while Rooney doesnt.

Robbie keane and lennon were doing quite good actually. Lennon had evra BEAT. every time he dribbled down that wing, evra just couldnt stop him. id have to say, good job to the tottenham team, first team to score on us in the new year. however, id like to see them try it when we have vidic back. Rio/Vidic have been absolutely superb, and the loss of the Serb has hurt our defense.

We are in good form. ronaldo cant stop scoring. Tevez has been magnificent. Rio-Vidic havent conceded all year. (our only goal was v tottenham, which was rio-brown) Scholes is back. Hargo and Anderson have shown they can shut down fabregas. its still in the middle of the ACoN, which hurts arsenal but not us. Adebayor will be shut down by Rio-vidic just like torres was.

My prediction: 3-1 United win

Rooney, Ronaldo, Tevez- Adebayor.

great performance. Ronaldo had an amazing goal, well, two actually. Great performance by the team, the possesssion was 65 to 35. After the goals, we just sat back and passed it around them, creating a bunch of chances that shouldve been finished. Rooney has been in terrible scoring form as of late. He'll get there eventually, but he needs a few goals to get him back on track. I dont know how this wasn't at least 4-0.

Great job ronaldo, that was a contender for goal of the year.

micojoia- i disagree. The fact that Rooney isnt scoring has nothing to do with competition from his own team. That makes absolutely no sense. His teammates are scoring, but thats not going to affect his form. The reason Rooney isnt scoring is because he lost his momentum when he got injured twice and then the virus, and so he doesnt have confidence. Confidence is everything as a striker, or really for any attacking player. Ronaldo has soo much confidence right now, and it shows in everything he does. That is the reason why hes playing so well. Conversely, Rooney has lost his form (due to injuries) and his confidence (due to not scoring cause of 1st reason) so he isnt playing well. Its all in his head. Hes a great scorer, and a great finisher. Right now, he just doesnt fell like it. psychology is big in sports, thinking like a winner makes you that much closer to being one. Rooney needs to get the 'bad luck' out of his head, cause thats the only thing stopping him from scoring. Not his teammates.

If anything, the fact that his teammates are on fire would boost Rooney, not hold him back. its team momentum.

2. He does flash, but thats his style and you cant blaim him. He has found an appropriate balance of entertainment and product. He satisfies the team and the fans.

4. His dribbling is amazing, his passing is good, his control is spectacular, his touch is astounding, his aerial ability is impressive, his shooting is superb. What else can you ask for?
5. Hes got loads of pace.
6. He finds open space to get into.
7. His free kicks are (now) consistent, and deadly.

vidic is the only serb we have, but the problem for him would be that we've already got a lot of talent for his position. (hes a winger/striker right?)

Hes not breaking Roovez, and Ronaldo and Giggs are the wingers. Neither are going to be taken out for jovetic. Nani is the long term replacement for giggs, so that place is held.

Really, we are looking for a ub striker. So, juve would be okay for him to go to.

manutd, germany- yes, sometimes people do overdo it. I think this one was a little over the top, but really not too much. special effects are good on the intro, but the football should be left pretty much alone. I think he applied these rules well enough. but yes, you have a point.

samrit- i dont really know anything about this mohd zidane, and i didnt know if they were related (there are brothers in football) or not, or whatever. I had never heard of him, except some commentator had mentioned him offhand. So, thats all i knew.

When Anderson played in the liverpool and arsenal games, gerrard and fabregas were shut down. Both can be very dangerous, and are the big creative forces for their respective teams. Anderson played in those games, and when he did, he shut them down, and they werent playing and creating like they normally do. Anderson subbed out vs arsenal, and then fabregas suddenly hda a bigger influence. Logically, theres an explanation: Anderson was shutting down Fabregas and Gerrard. Thats what I was saying. Anderson is almost a DMF, except that hes ridiculously good at going forward, like a AMF. Hes got the engine in him to play both positions at once. His DMF skills took Gerrard and Fabregas out of their games. Thats what I was talking about.

Well, not our best performance. We were bead for the first hour. The last half hour we were the better team, and especially in the last 10 minutes, we had the spurs on the ropes. Great job Tevez, you touched the ball like 5 times the whole game and managed a goal. It wasnt a dawson own goal. Tottenham, subtracting the beginning of the season, are as good as liverpool, maybe better. they are more deserving of a big four spot.

Darth Maul- I disagree, we had them at some points in the game. A draw was a fair result.

arsene who- lol. you need to get a life. Most of those cards were stupid. He gave our players cards for some stupid things. Yes, we shouldnt have argued so much, BUT, there was a handball for the goal, so im pretty sure you would be complaining as well. Tevez got a card for taking his shirt off, which is a stupid rule. Rooney got called for a dive, which was realy he tripped, and then jenas dives on the other side, and the ref acknowledges it, and doesnt give a card... which would have been a 2nd yellow. this coming from a ref who is an admitted liverpool fan. Yeah, like he isnt biased at all. And you want us to be like arsenal, who earn their pretty goals (like against united where they got rebound and goalmouth scramble goals... which of course were very pretty and were 'earned' in your mind of course), have good manners (like when fabregas got his supposed friend kicked out of the game while rolling around for 5 minutes after being 'elbowed' in the face) and have great team spirit (like when adebayor assaulted his teammate). Thats how 'champions' (who havent won anything in a while) play. Arsenal may get beaten 5-1 (lol, owned) but they can score 6 against newcastle in 2 games (united scored that many in a single half). Exactly, we should all be like arsenal. United fans should shut up once in for all, because of course we dont know what we are talking about.

gerrard- lol, with that name, i think you are a liverpool fan. You have no right to say anything about draws. Foolish liverpool got 5 draws in a row and then a loss. They drew Luton, and went down twice to havant and waterlooville, the nonleaguers. In that same time period (january) United won 6 games, scoring like 19 ish goals, conceding once, and beating ALL premier league opposition in the fa cup.

pratik- the ref is a liverpool fan, what do you expect?

manutdasia- it was both ways. both team crowded for evrey decision. its just that the ref called more garbage against us, and he liked giving us more cards, even though spurs were doing the same thing.

arsenal fan- you deserved to lose 1-0 to us, so that would mean we'd be ahead of you by a point now. So the only thing arsenal deserves is to be behind united.

shon- jealousy is a pain in the butt isnt it?

gary- agreed, hes almost as good as cesc.

bboy- not that it matters, i just want to point out that today there may very well be team that wins every game in a season. the patriots in the superbowl. but thats american football (lame) so its way different than real football.

cesc- that title should go to cesc. Ronaldo doesnt hold his face and flop about for 5 minutes after being 'elbowed.' Ronaldo has actually been hit in the face this season and on two occasions theyve had to stop the game because of th blood pouring down onto his jersey. He still didnt flop about like cesc did.

cantona-there was a tackle on ronaldo that should have been a red. i dont remember it, but SAF thinks it should have been a red, so thats 10-10. And if Rooney got a card for diving, then so should jenas. that would be 2 yellows, another red for spurs. so it would have been 9 v 10 in uniteds favor. With that much space, do you think Ronaldo, Tevez, Anderson, Nani, and Rooney would have scored? yes. Too much room for ronaldo to dribble, so if all major calls had been right, you could say that united would have one. but its all moot now, and im not complaining.

i honestly think the draw was fair. tottenham had the upper hand for 60 minutes, but we had them for 30. their goal camer from a handball, which is lame, but still, they probably deserved one anyway. we really put on the pressure late on, and we deserved the goal we got. and, our goal wasnt from a handball, nor was it a dawson own goal. so i think it was a fair result.

defenders are more patient in other countries. its not that the defending is better/worse, just different style. English players would murder some foreigners. thats why many have a hard time adapting. They are more physical, and make a lot more hard tackles. thats what i see. where as an italian would try to channel, and block, maybe snag the ball, and enlglish defender would just slide in and get everything: ball, player, dirt, and whatever else he can hit. This would through many players out of their game.

danielbeee- rooney hasnt been the same since his second injury. he usually scores in bursts, but he just hasnt found the net often since returning. its a matter of confidence. he is pulling his weight though, just not in goals. hes got 7 assists, 10 goals... not so bad, esp considering his age. its just been hard, because hes had the 2 injuries, then that bad virus, and now the ban. once he starts thinking like a w inner again, he'l bang them in there. im guessing he'll still manage 20 goals this season.

lol. ronaldo didnt do bad. he played pretty well actually. just cause he didnt score, everyone assumes he had a bad game.

ronaldo scores plenty against mig teams. de destroyed roma. he beat lisbon, who are a pretty good team. he scores against arsenal, but they are a small team. he scored against tottenham, who now with the new defenders and under ramos' leadership are better than liverpool imo. he played great in euros, was one of portugal's best in WC06.

*** else do you want? against italy, or chelsea, or madrid, milan, inter, whoever: he could run around and beat every player on the pitch by himself, run to the center circle, do a bicycle kick from there, score into the top corner 5 times in a row and i swear all of you would think he doesnt perform in big games!

but have you watched anderson? consider that hes in a new country, new league, completely new style of play, new language, new team. many players have taken years to reach the level he reached in a month. hes been remarkable consistent, and after his 1st 2 games hes been arguable united's most consistent player. hes shown up vs big teams, vs little teams, starting, as a sub, as an AMF, and as a DMF. Hes a year younger that fabregas, been in the league WAY less time, and he still plays very well. He shut down fabregas when arsenal played manchester. fabregas was not the god-like individual that the media/fans hype him to be in that game. he was average. and anderson the reason. I know fabregas is class, but his OMG!fabregas=FIFAWPotY stage was form.

im not saying that he definatively is the better player. hes just shown the potential to surpass fabregas. looking at his achivements and the hurdles hes had to overcome. hes going to surpass fabregas, thats my opinion.

i never said anderson was better, just that he shut fabregas down when they played against each other, which is true.

fabregas has done more over the years, and is definately more established, but anderson has reached an unbelievable calibre in his first season here in england. if he improves at half the rate he has been for a few more years, he'll be the best mid in the league by miles.

but i still think fabregas is a little overrated. hes great, definately top class. but hes not the god that people made him out to be, and he doesnt have a flawless character either.

that kid really impressed me. I havent watched much of him, but from the news and heighlights, hes VERY good at creating opportunities. from the # of easy chances hes missed, he isnt very clinical. but, hes 18. he can miss 4 easy ones, cause hes gunna make a 5th and score that one. if he stays this good at getting into danger areas, and learns to finish at least 50% of the easy ones, i swear he'll be worth 2 goals a game.

dont go into a selling frenzy cause of 1 game.

saha... maybe. Giggs? who else should we play? nani? hes even worse. every game, he cant decide if hes gunna be world class or league 1 quality. brown has been part of a defense that has been ridiculously good ALL SEASON. one bad game does not make a player. Oshea is a utility man. we know he isnt actually that great of a player, but his versatility is an asset to the team nonetheless.

brown is going to be vital next season, and for a few years to come. gary is fading out and simpson is too young still to play every game. and we dont want to buy a RB, we have simmo, who is definately good enough to make it. along with pique as well. and rafael da silva, the brazilian twin.

this worries me. there have been a few games this season where we have been completely unconvincing. bolton, tottenham, city...

we need to step it up. we are too reliant now on ronaldo, tevez, and rooney. last year, we got goals from everywhere. this season, its been those 3 all the way.

our mids need to score more. they need to push into the box. like carricks goal, the striker makes a run, and a mid pushes into the gap, the other mids slides the ball through... finish... goal. simple. we need more of that. we are reliant now on some class from WR, CT, and CR to score. theyve had plenty for 95% of games. however, when they have a bad day, which is inevitable, we are stuck.

i hate to say it, but we really now rely on them. we didnt, now we do.

Fletcher for MotM. He does it again. he has been involved in 7 our of the 9 games this season where we have scored 4+ goals.

Anderson outclassed Fabregas by miles. Cesc was walking around the pitch like a zombie, and his passing matched that. Anderson was stealing balls, passing well, beating players, holding the ball well, moving, creating, assisting (rooney), and shooting.

eboue, toure, bendtner, and adebayor were acting like children. eboue went cuck norris on evra. toure kicked nani out of frusteration after the play, cause he was angry at being owned so thoroughly. bendtner was diving. Adebayor was diving (dont make excuses), and then he gave vidic a little 'nudge' after vidic had knocked tha ball out.

Arsenal, you may think you do, but you really have no depth. And if anyone actually marks you in the midfield, as opposed to letting fabregas have a few minutes to make a pass, then the whole game falls apart. and dont say lehman had a bad game and that was the reason... if he hadnt had such a good game, it would have been doubled.

gunner- are you serious? are you seriously complaining that you lost due to tactics??? isnt that kinda the point? and why dont you get some more wingbacks. again, NO DEPTH! Excuses as to why you lost, and excuses as to why adebayor fell. he dived!!! shut up and go cry about it why dont you!

hi-agreed. This just cements the point that Anderson is going to be better than fabregas, if he isnt already. Hes better in big games. His passing is as good, his vision is as good. His shooting is good, hes just been unlucky. His dribbling is definately better than fabregas. Hes faster than fabregas. hes stronger, imo, but he definately defends better. he holds possession when taking the ball, and when he gets past people. Rarely so you see anderson lose the ball. He doesnt get marked out of games. hes more versatile. In basically all categories hes better.

1. If you are being gracious in defeat, cheers to ya. Stop reading now, thats all i have to say to you.

2. If you say you don't care about the FA Cup, that BS. You do. And dont say it gives you more time to rest. Its only 2 more games till the end of the EPL, and then a final after the season has ended.

3. Don't say it was cause your squad was injured. Your lineup was mostly normal starters. To say that you were forced to play bad wingbacks only emphasizes the point that you have no depth. Obviously your academy isn't as good as you say cause the backups they produced were not good enough, not nearly good enough.

4. We played a weakened squad too if you didn't notice. No Ronaldo, who we supposedly can't play without. No Tevez, no Hargreaves, no Giggs. Park is a fringe player, Fletcher is 5th choice CM, Nani is still 2nd to Giggs. We didn't bring on Scholes till the second half.

Ronaldo isnt the only diver, and he sure as heck isnt the worst. Maybe if the defenders were good enough to keep up with him and stop him in ways other than hacking him, he may be less fouled. Im not trying to say all international fans are clueless, I'm American, but many are very misinformed. We aren't being so gracious in victory, but if you go read this, most Arsenal fans aren't being so gracious in defeat. the united motm would be hard to pick. nani had the defense whipped, and thats being modest. he really dominted. fletcher was just about perfect, scoring 2 and providing so many opportunites. as well, great crosses etc... Rooney was everyone, and owning pretty much the whole world, except the back of the net. He did great, but shouldve had like 5 goals instead of 1. Anderson was everywhere. He provided assist to Rooney, and should have had like 3 more assists to rooney but someone still doesnt have his shooting boots on. He won the ball back a lot and shut down arsenal's midfield.

So nani, fletcher, rooney, and anderson all have a say for motm. The official united poll was rooney, the poll on my forum says fletcher, my gut reaction was anderson, but then again nani was a beast...

Pato and kaka are back, which is bad news for arsenal. Pato is ridiculously good, i think he'll score a goal. Kaka is always dangerous. Milan are so deadly, I think arsenal are in serious trouble, Unless they can fix that defense they are doomed. Even so, Kaka can tear them apart no matter how good they are. Hes a specialist on injured defenses, just watch him @ home to united last season. Ferdinand and neville out, vidic barely able to play and carrying injures into the game, ronaldo on a bad ankle, and no solid DM at the time on top of it. If arsenal's defense isnt solid, they are doomed. As for offensively, all that it takes to shut down arsenal are 2 players. 1 with a good engine to shut down fabregas.. just close him down quick and he cant play. Then a big guy to mark adebayor, keep him from winning the headers. Milan should be able to do both things. I predict 1-3 Milan win, cause arsenal dont have the depth. Arsenal require their first team, and dont really have too much quality in certain areas to back up injuries. The midfield NEEDS fabregas, and no decent FB cover is available. Persie is a nonfactor, more like a frequent short term loanee than a squad player.

PS: Eduardo and Gallas really deserved red for their actions. And Hoyte shoulda gotten one too.

If Ronaldo gets a straight red for getting in the face of a player after being provoked and DOESNT even touch him... then Gallas and Hoyte should have straigh reds and suspension for actually kicking nani. thats BS. then eduardo tackled nani and came closer to hitting him in the groin than the ankles. plus it was 2 footed. knee high + 2 footed challenge should = red, but again its BS.

united had the upper hand for the majority of the game. We held possession, but were unable to make any chances, Lyon did a great job defensively. Our own back 4 did very well. Lyon were never able to get in behind with a good chance. Benzema did a great job on that strike, found a little space and fired home, but even then the defense still never let him in behind. Great job. If Rooney could find his boots from before the 2nd injury and wear that pair, then we would have won this game with the early goal. But no such luck. Not many opportunities for goals on both sides. We were lucky to score that goal, but regardless we deserved it. 1-1 was a fiar result, and we have the advantage coming into the home leg. United haven't lost at home in europe for like 3 years. I was disappointed with the performance, but the result is decent and all looks set to advance. A home win will take us through, or even a 0-0 draw. We've outscored at home this season 7-1 or 9-1 or something like that in europe, so its our spot to lose, and we have the motivation this year.

Of all the English teams, United are probably in the best position, maybe tied with Pool.

Arsenal are screwed, they need an advantage, no way they beat Milan at home.

Chelsea may get upset if they draw 1-1 at home, but they probably have the advantage.

Pool have an advantage, but with their consistency, or lack of it, I wouldnt be surprised if Inter knocks them out with a home thrashing.

Its terrible that this had to happen. Again, I wish Eduardo a full recovery, and I hope that he doesn't end his career here. A tragedy... It wasn't malicious, just a bad tackle, and it could have been anyone. I'm really sorry for him and for Arsenal.

its was a good game. the scoreline shows we were dominant, and we were. But at times we were pretty lucky to scrap the clean sheet away. a good win, esp considering that we were playing some backups like oshea and park. all in all, 7/10. we never got out of second gear.

like i said before, fabregas is good, but his superman run at the beginning of the season wasnt going to last.

walcott is playing well and i wouldnt be surprised if capello gives him a run in england.

meanwhile arsenal are showing an inablility to win games. not good. with this form they are going out of CL. the defense is wide open, and i would not be surprised if kaka tears them apart. theat would leave them with only the epl to compete for, and i honestly think that the confidence hit will knock them out. they seem to have no rallying spirit, and they have been unable to produce results under injuries. United produced wins during the march crisis last year, and those results kept the title out of chelsea's reach. this year, arsenal are faltering, and now united are pouncing.

dinho- arsenal acored a pretty fluke goal with fabregas. i watch it over and over and i have no idea how the keeper failed to get there. that was more of a keeper own goal than a fabregas goal. and then both against us were flukes, and one against chelsea were fluke. arsenal won cause madrid are terrible thi year. everyone is getting too old. no drive, unlike last season.

arrrr- are you kidding me? wenger makes excuses like ronaldo scores goals. There are a lot of them. do you even read the news or watch the interviews after bad games. Oh, the team was so shocked from losing eduardo that we couldnt beat 10 men at home. Oh, we are too injured. Oh, we are tired. Oh, we are on our freaking periods! dont give me that trash. Oh, we didnt care about that competition.

Aay- you struggled to get a goal at home, and you never did get one. over both legs we scored the same as arsenal. Ronaldo is a no show in big games cause he scores on you and scores on lyon... meanwhile fabregas was everpresent. he did a great job winning possession for us. what a big game player. And we definately cant win without him, like a 4-0 win isnt big at all. Cesc is soo mature. im sure. lol.

i dont blame the defense for giving up a goal. most teams give up a goal. our offense should have put at least 2 of those in.

unlucky, bad finishing and a **** ref. but it was our loss and our fault. no excuses for the result.

btw, there are NO big 4 teams in the competition.

I pick barnsley for the cup. They beat chelsea and liverpool. Only 2 prem sides left in i think, boro and portsmouth. this is going to be a fun one. imagine, cause its entirely plausible: an ALL CHAMPIONSHIP final for the FA Cup. This is great for the sport. it is year of the underdogs.

United arent a 1 man show at all. the fact is that practically every player on the starting line and even some subs is a star, and they are a star because of the performances they put out for the team. Ronaldo, Rooney, Evra, Ferdinand, Vidic, Anderson, Scholes, Giggs, Nani, even Foster are all star players, and became so playing for united.

arsenal also produce a lot of stars, but that doesnt change the fact that they arent producing trophies...

And there are really 2 major star players for all of the big teams

United: Rooney, Ronaldo
Arsenal: Fabregas, Adebayor
Chelsea: Lampard, Drogba
Liverpool: Gerrard, Torres

mulugeta- weve discussed this on a forum on for a while now. rooney is amazing at creating chances, but his finishing has been trash since december when he got back from injury 2. he needs to get back together, cause hes had like 15 different 1vK opportunities and he hasnt scored even 1 yet since january.

Ronaldo was perfect. 10/10 A goal and 3 assists. What more do you want? Some say hes not a playmaker, only a scorer. Well, he just proved that wrong. Amazing, so much class from him.

Tevez- Great job. Defensively hard working and got a goal. 8/10

Rooney- FINALLY!!!! 2 goals! great job. But you could have had 4 easily. 5 maybe. You hit the pole and missed another 1 v K, but still a great job. 9/10

Giggs- Solid game 7/10

Carrick- Great passing. 8/10

Scholes- the maestro had a hand in most things. 9/10

Anderson- Play brilliant after coming on. 9/10

Defense- Did give up too many chances. Kep the CS. nice job. 8/10

Well, it was a fair result. Some wastefulness on both ends.

We should have played better. And Giggs, I'm sorry, you shouldnt be starting. Park is becoming very good. The Koreans should be happy cause their man has been quite excellent, and deserves the spot above Giggs.

Rooney and Ronaldo scored. Again. Gotta love those guys.

Ferdinand's injury is a bad thing if hes out for a while. We need our Fantastic Defensive Duo.

Not the best result, but at least we got a point out of the ordeal. Time to fire up the reserve cylinders. The last bit is going to be tough. We always get the worst injuries at the worst times.

i agree. the thing most people dont give ronaldo credit for, is that he works really hard to make sure hes in good positions to finish. Hes got Van Nistelrooy-like poaching qualities. so, in a way, you are right barca fan. but hes consistent, which counts for a lot. and united isnt a 1 man team, because without the others, ronaldo wouldnt have so many goals. i can only remember 1 PK miss from roanldo. it was vs west ham. i think he have missed 1 other time ever, or thats what i was told.

seriously? the euros are a bigger tourney than the world championship.

for me, the world club championship should be a summer tournament. It should take top american, african, asian, and european teams. like, every 4 years or so. the teams who won the CL in the last 4 years could go, or if a team wins it 2 times in that then the runner up that year go. so, 4 teams from each major area. that means, 16 teams. Perfect. Top 2 from each qualifying group of 4 go through. then knockout for a winner. that would be the best way to make it a real tournament

Ronaldo plays with his own style, and it works for him and it works for the fans who love it. He isn't really different from Zidane. Ronaldo has cut out a lot of diving, and he grew up in a culture where diving is encouraged. So, to change takes a lot of maturity. And Zidane wasn't faultless. Remember hte World Cup? Headbutt? Sure, no one blames Zidane for that. However, if someone insulted Ronaldo's family or Ronaldo and he did a stunt like that he would be massacred by the press. He actually did less during the World Cup, and guess what? He was slaughtered by the press, worse than Zidane actually. You call on Ronaldo's dving as a major fault but he's getting rid of that but nobody is perfect and to say Ronaldo is so bad compared to Zidane is biased stupidity. Who else should get player of the year then? Who? No one comes close to Ronaldo in deserving that award.

tbh, we should have won this game. defender saved with his arm. friedel was inhuman. rooney was tackled in the box. nani was slide tackled from behind. ronaldo was slide tackled from behind, though the defender did get the ball on that one. at least 1 of them should have been a PK. we had 3 that should have been called. neverless, we didnt win but we did pick up a vital point. still have the PL in our hands. with our record against top sides this season, we wont lose to chelsea and then we'll basically have won the title.

yes, it was a boring match, but you peeps have to realize that United do know how to play ugly when they need to. Its what separates us from arsenal. other than the PK miss, this was a well executed away strategy. A great perormance from the lads. the only thing missing was an uncharacteristic inability to counterattack. regardless, it was still a solid display that got the required job done.

I have to agree that Ronaldo is not the greatest ever player. However, I think he can be. That title can only come after a full career of great performances. If Ronaldo continues to play the way he has this season and keeps improving for the rest of his career, he can have s hout at that title. For now, we cannot say he is or is not the best player ever. We can definitively say, however, that he is by far the best player right now. Ronaldo has led United to 1 EPL and a CL semi, and now this year he in all likelyhood will have another EPL and possibly a CL to that. Hes not won anything iwth Portugal yet, but his national team, which he captains at 23, is very promising. Ronaldo has a long ways to go in his career, and must do a lot to claim the title of worlds greatest player ever, but it is a goal he can achieve.

However, for ineffective tricks, I think that's a bit harsh. He is very good at beating players, and you must admit a few things about his development:

06/07 season:
-develops a consistent end product.
-develops a ruthless scoring touch.
-improves on diving
-develops emotional resillience

07/08 season:
-improves goalscoring touch
-produces consistent solid big game performances
-improves diving
-decreases useless showmanship by simplifying game while maintaining crowd-pleasing flair
-develops consistently deadly free kicks

08/09 season:
-who knows...

Ronaldo has really broken out of his shell and if he continues to improve the way he has these last two seasons then it must be said that his name can be put up against Zidane, Maradonna, Cruyff, Platini, Best...

I rewatched the game and took note of the things that Messi and Ronaldo did. wrote them down.

Discounting neutral things (simple passes), Good things are through balls that reach the target, good runs, great incisive passes, etc... Bad things are losing the ball needlessly, missing PKs, hitting the wall on FKs.

Im only going to count the ones when both players are on the field.

Messi did 5 good things, and 8 times he did bad things. Actually, whenever Messi tried to make a penetrative run, he lost the ball more often than not.

Ronaldo did 7 good things, and 6 bad things. 2 of those bad things were hitting the wall on a FK, and 1 was the PK. The majority of the time Ronaldo got the ball, he made something good happen. There were quite a few times hed break through the defense on his own before being fouled professionally to stop him from scoring.

I have to say after rewatching the game that Ronaldo did quite a lot. Messi really did not do much. I know Barca fans will say that Messi was getting off injury, but then again Ronaldo had no support 95% of the time, and his team had less possession and he had less service. Besides if Messi is supposedly the greatest player ever and his so far above Ronaldo then youd think hed be able to play well in this game at home with 90000 people behind him esp since hes such a great big game player as he showed on wednesday. And besides, everyone judged Ronaldo on his bad performance against Milan last year when he was playing tired and injured with a tired and injured team against a well rested team with few injuries and who were only really fighting in 1 competition.

That would be uncharacteristic. After losses United have been most dangerous. Like 8 straight wins after the city loss, 4 ish game win streak after bolton, after west ham we won everything in january, after city we beat arsenal 4-0, newcastle 5-1, fulham...

there have been a few rough patches this season for united, but after each of them the team has lost 1 game and then dominated for a while after that. With only 2 games left, United will dominate on those last 2 teams. Not to mention beat Barca and win the CL. United for the double.

In the first half, we were thrown off by Chelsea's pressuring play and Vidic's injury. We were bad, and the goal down was deserved. However, in the 2nd half we dominated the game more than chelsea and were lucky not to get 2 more goals in the last 5 minutes. Rooney's goal was very good, what we've been expecting him to deliver the whole season. The consistency will come over the next few seasons. He will have a breakout season like Ronaldo idid, and i back him for 30+ goals in an upcoming season. hes got the chances, the rest is coming.

The PK was unlucky, but what matters is that we still have put ourselves in a position where the title is still ours to lose. Chelsea did get very lucky, but luck has fallen in favor of us a few times, as well as in Arsenal's favor at times. everyone gets lucky/unlucky at times. but, like i said, we still have the title.

Im backing United to show that strength of spirit they've shown all season long and finish the season strongly. Manchester United more than any other team in europe right now has heart.

We just need to realize again that we are the best in the world, and that we can attack whoever the heck we want. We dont have to sit back an play defensively, because anywhere and at any time we are better and the other teams should defend against us. When we start playing with that confidence again, there is not another team that comes even close. Not barca, chelsea, liverpool, arsenal, roma, madrid, whoever...

Fergie was said he was disappointed with the ref, and id agree it was a lame pk, lamer by far than the one that knocked out arsenal from the CL. but really, saf is trying not to deflect pressure and criticism from his players. saf does not care what the press, or opposing fans or anyone thinks, so long as his players are protected. thats a good manager for ya, backing up that with the most trophy-laden career of any manager in england.

saf does miracles with players, and i believe he will rally the troops in a final charge to victory on 2 fronts.

I hope Rooney can make a full recovery. He is such a good big game player. I back him and Ronaldo to take up the mantle against barca and really dominate. trinity of RR+T is sooo deadly. We should go 442 and attack, because we are the better side and at home.

From the midfield, Anderson and Hargreaves should start. Hargreaves is simply a beast, and Anderson has consistently been the best big game midfield we have. Nani should take over for giggs, because he can produce good displays, while giggs form is so wretched that he just plays badly every time. sorry giggs, we love you, but you need to figure a way to get out of this slump. we believe you can do it. nani also plays much better when hes got his portugese buddy playing as well.

The defense should be the same as the rest of the year. if Vidic isnt fit, play Pique in the back. Keep brown wide.

and it also helps when trying to look good when your team has more possession, if fewer chances. more service= more time to show your stuff.

so, again, there really isnt much you can honestly take from this performance between ronaldo and messi.

you can however take that united are team who can shut down any offense, how long has it been in europe since we've been scored on? someone said 360 min. thats amazing. both barca games, roma, lyon at home, all the way back to lyon away was the last time anyone got a goal on us.

you need to learn that possession isnt worth anything if you cant make any good opportunities. you were shooting from distance the whole game. United had *0% or more of the good opportunites. ronaldo pass to park, park cross to nani, tevez cross to ronaldo, ronaldo 1-2 for tevez, ronaldo cut back for nani, etc...

its great to pass around but the penetration was minimal. thats why you had 60% of possession but were still beaten.

I never said Ronaldo had a 'better game' if you want to use that term. Ronaldo was much less involved, but that had a lot to do with the tactics of the game and the role Ronaldo played. Ronaldo had an advanced role, not his normal position, and he did very well fufuilling his role. He played as well as anyone could have asked him to. If you watch, Messi's most dangerous plays came from having 30 yards to dribble because Evra was upfield. When Ronaldo was up front, the barca defenders NEVER gave him that much room. That would be stupid. So, Messi had less pressure, and has a better game because of it. Barca had also the majority of possession because that is there style. That means messi got more of the ball. With that possession, they still created less major chances than United, which is United's style. but back to the 2 stars. With the possession style, it allows a lot of support to flood the box, so messi can pass the ball away before he gets in over his head in pressure. even still, messi lost the ball on his runs more often than he kept it. Ronaldo did not have half the support messi did, so he had no choice but to try and beat 4 world class defenders. that was a feat neither ronaldo or messi were able to do. On the times Ronaldo had support up with him, he made great runs, and was just as creative as messi with the passes. However, he did not have that support often. As a result of all this, messi had a 'better' game, but ronaldo did a great job playing out of position, without his favorite partner, and fufilling a role that really is not beneficial to his play style.

So, yes, messi had a 'better' game.

but that means absolutely nothing as to who is a better player.

i disagree with that Mo

in the first leg, ronaldo had no support and no service and he was playing as a lone striker. in that position, if your team cant get you the freakin ball, you are NOT supposed to drop back and get it. when he did get it, it was 1 v 4 and he had no teammates in the area to help. what was he supposed to do? not much.

at home, messi lost the ball more than ronaldo. And i actually counted it when i rewatched the game. ronaldo also made more great plays while at home. whenever ronaldo got the ball with support, he did easily as well as messi did. that was the key, barac always had players for messi to pass to, ronaldo had support half the time. it made it aappear like messi was having this amazing game, but really, messi lost the ball as often as he kept it when he tried to make something happen.

ummm, i disagree. on pretty much all accounts.

Ronaldo has played well in the big matches this year. He was good against Barca at home, despite the opinions of general fans. I actually counted the great and bad moments of both players, and Ronaldo was better on both accounts with less possession, less support, and while playing out of position with more marking. Messi really looked best only when Evra attacked and left his flank undefended, so Messi could get a simple ball and make this glorious looking run through all the space in the world. Then he reached the wall of defenders, where he relied on teammates to penetrate, because he was unable to go through on his own, despite trying multiple times before being dispossessed, which happened more frequently than some viewers seemed to notice. Ronaldo had no such help. Ronaldo had no such freedom. Purely on the styles of the two teams that day, Messi was made to look better, while not actually being so.

As to professional, Ronaldo is just as much a professional as Messi. He plays for the team, like against Barca, and sacrifices his showiness for the team when needed. Messi has never been asked to sacrifice his style of play for the team, and thats probably why Barca are in 3rd right now. Ronaldo hs worked on his diving issue, but its still a little bit there and he needs to work on playing through challenges when opponents grab his jersey. That is one challenge that particularily frusterates him. shirt pull = stop and glare at ref. Yes, its a foul, but he should keep going till the ref calls it. In all honesty, Ronaldo doesnt dive as much as it is presumed, his dives are just overhyped. Messi isnt really known for his diving, but that doesn't make Messi and angel. Hand of god anyone? Personally, thats worse than diving.

As for being younger, that doesnt always mean everything, while it still can mean something. The thing about Ronaldo is that he keeps improving every year. We thought he maxed out at 23 goals, so he goes and scores 43, im talking about the braces hes going to score on Chelsea. ;) That desire to grow is something that sets him apart from other stars. Ronaldo is portrayed as lazy, but hes one of the hardest workers in all of football. Messi is quite a savior for Barca, but the same can be said about Ronaldo. Ronaldo, much more than Messi, can change the course of any match in an instant. Thats another hallmark of legends, being able to play bad and then suddenly pulling something amazing out of the bag. Ronaldo is the king of that trait.

As for more talented, thats debateable as well. What do you define talent as? Potential? Achieved? End product? Developed skill? Natural skill?

Ronaldo has more potential than Messi. Hes always on the way up, and whenever hes challenged hes shown he can rise to the top. In terms of achieved potential, Ronaldo wins. Look at how far hes come. In terms of end product he also wins, look at his record. Yes, his assist column may be down, but it really shouldnt be. If youve followed him throughout the campaign, the only reason hes got a bad assist rate is cause Rooney was having a **** season finishing-wise. Developed skill would also have to go to Ronaldo at this point. Natural skill, as of now, is tha only one debateable. I may give it to Messi. But, of all of those, natural skill is one of the least important. Results matter.

To make an absolute judgement on all of those, we are going to have to wait another 15 years for them to retire. Then, we can look back. And it will still probably be a hot debate. Or, it might become very obvious over the next 5 yeras.

And, Messi is not already a legend. Well, he could be considered as one, but that really stretches the boundary of 'legend,' and that title will start to lose its value. Wait another 5 to give him that title.

fyi: if you guys didnt already know, both of the proof vids are done by the same guy, and i think hes going to do more. if you really like these, go to soccerpulse, join the forum, go to the compilations, and search for proof. hes got both available for download. use rapidshare or something like that, and when the page comes up use the 'free' option. its slower, but you can get this in wmv at home. on the first vid, the one i loaded first time just downloaded a web page link. if that happens, just follow the link. it takes you to another download, which will work exactly like the first, except it will actually have the wmv download.

i thought you might want to know. you can use the same process to to download most compilations. a lot of the best ones show up here on footytube in a streamable manner, which is good. however, having it downloaded is nice, you can put it on a flash drive and show friends, or whatever.

i thought there might be some people who would be interested on getting these downloaded.

I have to say that chelsea were very lucky to even make it to extra time.

Lampard's goal was lucky for 2 reasons: 1. deflections dropped it off Ferdinand's back (which isnt a mistake but really just luck)2 the finish would probably have been saved by VDS if he hadn't slipped on the pitch while coming out. It wasn't an unstopable strike by any means.

Ronaldo was the best player on the pitch. If you need reminding of what he did, there are a few youtube vids of all his touches during the game. basically everthing he did turned to gold. rooney had some freaking amazing passes. shouldve had an assist.

the luck was with chelsea, taking a shot from 30 yards at a standstill and bouncing it off a post is pretty lucky. lampard was in ET so that never should have occured. United should have been 3-0 up in the first half. 2 for tevez and ronaldo's. ballack was lucky not to get a call when he ran through ferdinand's back to create their one decent chance. lampards goal was **** lucky and you cant call it anything but. 3 deflection and VDS slips on the way out. a slip gave them a chance, and a slip took it away. chelsea had more shots, but they also had practically 0 penetration. everything was from 25 yards out. i dont call that domination.

the pks were a lottery, but the deserving side came out on top.

As a United fan, I have to say that Torres is brilliant.

He uses his speed, height, and leg length very effectively. He can get many touches across the width of his body as well as being able to wrap his foot around the ball even on long touches. It gives him a distinct advantage over most defenders. Hes a great finisher. He does have a thing for the flop. And, he lives in Ferdinand's back pocket, but regardless hes still quite a classy player.

Hes already a pool hero, and im pretty sure he'll be a legend in the next 5 years.

Now, if he had a decent team around him, he could easily be a 40 goal player consistently. Right now, hes just got Gerrard and Mash.

Perfect striker = Rooney + Torres

Rooney has a great creative side, good passing game, determination, strength, defensive work, and he creates a ridiculous amount of chances for himself.

Torres has the finishing ability. Hes got the hieght, speed, and quickness, combined with accuracy.

put them together and the player would make even derby a top 4 team.

but, most importantly, torres needs to cut his hair. it used to be short, ronaldo-ish, and it was pretty cool, like during the WC i think. now, he looks like a girl. wearing headband=lame.

it would be good to note that:
the majority of United's 1st teamers that played were returning from injury (ronaldo) or suspension (vida)

it is also a credit to saf that we could leave out so many players, and uninformed poeple can still think we are playing an A team. he does a great job building a strong squad and also rotating to keep everyone satisfied.

1. welbeck debut
2. possebon debut
3. rafael debut (i dont think he was involved in any comp matches yet)
4. ben amos debut
5. manucho debut and 1st game after injury
